The Billy Moore Saga Continues to Unfold
By Bill Marable csenewsnow.com Continued from October 7, 2021
Almost three years later, Billy Wayne Moore stands at the intersection of First Street and Middle Ave. as he recalls the shooting that occurred . . . At that point, Billy stopped talking near there on November 16, 2018. Marable -csenews

and pulled a hand-towel from his pants pocket and began to blow his nose. I was a little taken aback by his actions, especially given his public stance against taking the COVID-19 vaccination. In fact, he’d made quite a fuss about being in contact with someone who might have had the deadly virus, just a week or so prior to our meeting. So as he folded the towel and returned it to his pocket, I reminded myself to continue to maintain my social distance and maybe add another foot or two of space between us. When we left off in Part 1, Billy Wayne Moore, 54, was rehashing the events of Friday, November 16, 2018, which lead to his incarceration and subsequent exoneration.

“. . . You’ll see on the video where Corrion (Greer) pull over in front of Mary Long and I say ‘he ain’t over here.’ Corrion say ‘he right there.’ I say ‘he probably down the street there hanging out with his family.’ We pull up and gunshots ring out!
When gunshots ring out, and the car get hit and I get hit, I reach into his seat and tell Corrion to go! Corrion done almost blacked out in the car. You see this something these kids ain’t used to. And so, when he started shaking I felt around in the car and grabbed his leg and there was a gun. I grabbed the gun, you know what I mean, and put it out the window and get to firing it. And when he pulled off, my hand was so full of blood, the gun fell out. And so, after that I went down to my house, got in the car with Corrion and I’m like “Got Damn what the fuck I done got into!” You know what I mean?! So I can’t get into my house because my house is locked up, but I got a first aid kit right there on the back. And so I grab the first aid kit and grab a rag and walk through this ditch right here, -he motions towards a creek that’s runs adjacent to the park - I put my hands in some water and I walked all the way around until I came up on the other side. I came up out the ditch -man - and I came out on the Main Street bridge and I caught a ride right there on Main from one of my partners man and went to a little spot and got myself wrapped up. And when I found out that I was ’a person of interest’ I went and turned myself in. I went and turned myself in - what was that- Sunday morning? I called the radio station and I said ‘what they saying happened, Hell Naw! It didn’t happen like that!’ This is the thing about it Mr. Marable, all through the trial, I gave them (police) an interview and they never used that interview at the trial. Corrion gave them an interview and they never used his interview at the trial. Investigator Groves said he knew - he saw everything that went on. He said the only thing he didn’t know was the narrative. He said, ‘Billy Moore told us his side of it, but we don’t know anything else.’ So he said he did an investigation. How can you do an investigation, how can you investigate something, if the people that you said are involved never talked to you? You only got one side of it. If you only got one side of it, how can you proceed with a prosecution against me? You only interviewed me, Corrion, Greg Goff and Michela Fowler. You found out (that) Pamela Bates lied, you found out Jaqui lied, you found out what Michela Fowler said was lying.
Who was shooting from the front porch!? They said that nobody was shooting in that yard but Billy Moore.
You got three shoots. As a matter of fact, four shoots came from the front porch. The lawyer proved it in court. Before I started shooting out that car, four shots came from that front porch. Michela Fowler said I didn’t start shooting until the car stopped. Well, who the hell was shooting Michela Fowler while you and Jaquez Russell was on that front porch? So they’re (JPD and the Prosecutor) are not looking for the killer, they’re trying to blame Billy Moore! Cont’d page 7 10-21-21 CSENEWS P.3

The Billy Moore Saga
Cont’d from page 3
So now, where I see the City coming in at, when Investigator Robert Groves found out a month later that Tavoris Bates was shot in the back by someone else, they should have released me then.
Marable: According to Billy Moore, it was around this time that the ‘Infamous Greg Goff Tape’ came out. And Moore say Goff was telling them exactly what happened.
Moore Continued, Greg Gulf was saying exactly what I told Investigator Groves. Exactly what happened except that he was shooting. He said he was shooting, but he ain’t going to tell the police who was doing it, but he said he know he was trying to kill Billy Moore. So it was a setup. Erica Turner said ‘Greg you called him back down there’ and he said ‘yeah I called him back because he stuck his hand in my pocket talking bout ‘do I got Corrion’s money?’ He said ‘ain’t no nigger going to stick his hand in my pocket and that’s why I did what I did. I called that nigger back down there and I was trying to kill him.’ That’s on record! That’s in evidence! And so, once I got that information that’s when I hired (The Law Firm) Attorney Bede Anyanwu.
Marable: You sat in jail behind this matter for more that 18 months? Moore: It was from November 2018 to October 2020.
Road To Reentry Host Workshops
So the 1st week of Road To Reentry we brought out local community partners such as the American job center; D.A.T Staffing; Children Services; Free Hearts; Eagles Nest; Health Markets Insurance Agency; CCSR; West Tennessee Legal Services; Phase II Adult Reentry Training Camp and G Gary G Billa Bills with the live remote from Thomas Media (Big Thank you) The Biker Boyz Lamon Moore (thank you for showing up super deep. 2nd week we brought you the same resources In Humboldt, Tennessee along with information for the local health department and thank you to free will Home and the safe house for bringing out the community for free services. Carol Brown with “The Taste of Dee’s” of Memphis, Tennessee. We had so many people signing up for the services we all provide and some signed up for Phase II Adult Reentry Training Camp. Super excited about the 1st day of orientation.
Billy Moore (l) and Corrion Greer (r) were charged with first-degree murder in the death of Tavoris Bates outside a Middle Avenue home on November 16, 2018. www.wbbjtv.com
Marable: How many attorneys did you have appointed or hired on your own?
Moore: Let’s see. There was Anna Cash, Russell Larson took my money, they appointed me Bill Milam, then I hired Bede Anyanwu - fired Bede Anyanwu, and they gave me Alex Camp. Five lawyers. And they kept saying that I was being hard to work with. He won’t let the lawyer do his job. But I was not going to let them railroad me. Bede Anyanwu asked me if I would accept a plea bargain? I told him, ‘man I didn’t hire you for no plea bargain.’ That was the first
thing out of Bede Anyanwu’s mouth. And so, after that, I hadn’t even been indicted yet and he came to see me and he charged me $300. He charged me $300 consultation fee to come to the jail and I paid it to him. He came to the jail and sat there and talked to me. I said, ‘look here man it’s a tape’. I told Barbara to take the tape from Rasheed (96 Kix radio personality Jerald Skinner) and let Bede Anyanwu hear it. Bede Anyanwu heard the tape. Uh, it’s alleged that he went down to the DA’s office and raised a little hell about it. That was before I got indicted. It was said that he went
down there and said ‘If y’all don’t release Billy Moore, here’s a tape exonerating him.’ He said that Al Earls told him that ‘we’ll give it to the investigator.’ And so, they had the information.
Marable: How soon was it after the shooting that you think they had the information on the tape?
-That’s the reason I paid Bede Anyanwu $10,000. -I gave him that tape and I said ‘look here man, here’s something that exonerates me. The same tape they used in trial that the jury hears.
Moore says he was not released at the time and requested that Attorney Bede Anyanwu get him the Discovery Material.
Moore: Within a month. I found out Moore: I said, ‘all about it - that it was on I want to do man, if a hard-drive -maybe they going to keep me within a week. Tasha in jail is for you to Greer was in a interget me my Discovery view with Investigator Groves playing the tape Material. Cont’d page 16 for him and another investigator. So they had the tape. 10-21-21 CSENEWS P.7

And Your Point is . . .
LET’S MAKE OUR WORKPLACE SAFER!
Workplace violence is a problem, which has reached epidemic proportions in our society in recent years. Hardly a day goes by when we do not read or hear about a disgruntled co-worker, former employee, estranged spouse or someone else, entering a work environment and killing or causing serious bodily harm to someone in the area. We must realize we live in a violent society, and no matter how many precautions we take, there will always be a possibility we may be involved in a violent situation.
What can we do to be safer?
Two widely accepted principles are “If a risk is foreseeable there is a duty to act” and everything should be done “that can reasonably be expected” to maintain a safe working environment. In order to accomplish this level of protection threat assessment and risk analysis studies must be effectively performed to determine the level of risk involved and where threats to safety may come from. The author, Jim Leach, a career law enforcement person, recently published “Not In OUR HOUSE! Defeating Workplace Violence”. The book is available at Amazon.com in paperback and Kindle versions.
* Pay ATTENTION to what is going on in our work environment. Only by realizing there may be a problem can we attempt to intervene and defuse a potentially violent event before it occurs.
* Increase AWARENESS of the problem and contributing factors.
One of the first things to do is become educated so we can recognize patterns of behavior which may indicate a co-worker is heading in a dangerous direction.

Cont’d from page 1 Ms. Warrington entered the healthcare industry in the late 1980s where she established a trail-blazing global management career working for companies including Bristol Myers Squibb and GlaxoSmithKline for over 30 years. Her reputation as a proven change agent led her to launch a successful healthcare consulting business with clients worldwide. During her professional healthcare career, Ms. Warrington is proud to have established one of the largest women’s healthcare nonprofits, Women In Bio, whose mission is to promote careers, leadership, and entrepreneurship for women in the life sciences. She spearheaded the organization’s largest expansion and launched its first global chapters outside the United States, in Mumbai, India, and Montreal, Canada. A 1977 graduate of Humboldt High School, Ms. Warrington was the first in her family to attend college, earning degrees from UT Knoxville in education and speech pathology. She is a Past President of the North Carolina Alumni Chapter of UTK, as well as Marketing and Communication Committee representative for UTK Alumni. Ms. Warrington is also a member of the UT Alliance of Women Philanthropists, whose mission is to educate, empower, and inspire women to be philanthropic leaders. In 2015 Ms. Warrington followed her heart and returned home to West Tennessee to be near her family, most of whom reside in the local area. She bought a horse farm in her hometown of Humboldt, and opened her first Airbnb, which is the world’s premier online short-term lodging service. Ms. Warrington and Lincoln, her Black Lab rescue, quickly became Five-Star Superhosts, the highest rating based on guest reviews. Her Serenity Country Cottage Horse Farm has become the most-booked property between Memphis and Nashville, hosting over 1000 guests from all over the world. When the entire farm became an Airbnb business in 2019, she moved in town and serves as an Ambassador for the organization developing new active properties in the area. A woman of many talents, Ms. Warrington is also a licensed auctioneer. After serving as president of her class at the Nashville Auction School, she established a successful consulting role for nonprofits, specializing in high-end fundraisers and still consults with local groups today to help with their fundraising needs. She received certifications through the National Auctioneers Association as an Auction Technology Specialist and Benefit Auction Specialist. Ms. Warrington has been active on the boards of several local nonprofits since her return home, including CrimeStoppers, Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Tennessee and the TLC Riding Academy, a therapeutic horseback riding program for persons with disabilities. Ms. Warrington has served as Vice President of Madison County’s Master Gardeners, President of Future Farmers of America (FFA) Alumni for Humboldt High School, and is a member of the National Rifle Association (NRA). She is also a member of the Humboldt Chamber of Commerce and the Humboldt Historical Society. Ms. Warrington is a Past President of the Rotary Club of Humboldt, which received Club of the Year honors under her leadership. She has served as Assistant District Governor and Coordinator, for Rotary District 6760, encompassing 61 Rotary clubs and over 3500 Rotarians across Middle and West Tennessee. Ms. Warrington has been honored as a Paul Harris Fellow for her support of The Rotary Foundation, and was presented the District Service Award in 2019. Still an active member today, she works diligently on recruiting new leaders into this distinguished club. Ms. Warrington is a graduate of both the Leadership Gibson County and WestStar leadership programs, each with a mission of equipping community-minded individuals with the knowledge to assume dynamic leadership roles in West Tennessee. Ms. Warrington is very gratified to have worked with her 2017 WestStar class to launch “WestTeach,” a leadership development program which equips West Tennessee teachers with insight into area economic needs and opportunities, builds links with industry and community leaders, and provides an out-of-the-classroom view of students’ lives from child resource agents. Ms. Warrington attended The Church At Sugar Creek but enjoyed streaming the services of many churches in Humboldt during the challenging times of the pandemic. She is a proud mother and grandmother. Her daughter and son-in-law, Rachel and Matthew Braswell, reside in Raleigh, North Carolina, with her precious three-year old grandson Lee. Her daughter followed in her mom’s footsteps as an educator and is a High School Spanish Teacher in N.C. Ms. Warrington has made clear her intentions in seeking public office: “In 2016, I began sharing my desire to enter the political arena, most specifically in the Humboldt mayoral race. Humboldt is going through a transformational time with one of the biggest opportunities for positive change it’s seen in many years. Fast paced changes, that require proactive not reactive leadership and solid education that can successfully facilitate and lead the real-world experiences our town will go through. We need new leaders who will provide transparency in every decision made and take decisive action that will positively impact all the citizens of Humboldt. All 5 alderman seats, three school board seats and the mayoral seat are up for election November 2, 2021. Christine Warrington looks forward to running a strong race for the mayoral seat and will continue to serve the community she loves and grew up in since her return. Poetic Expressions “Have you ever been punched?”
Have you ever been punched So hard that you felt winded? The day we found out Was a punch so deep That I felt constantly winded from that day on But it was almost like I’d been waiting for this day We’re all bound to get bad news one day So mine was finally here “My dad has cancer” It sounded so foreign every time I said it out loud Were we lucky to know? To have a warning? A reminder about the one fact that we all know is guaranteed That we can’t all be here forever. So now we know that death is maybe on his doorstep Sooner than we expected I’m still numb, still winded But strangely, I feel grateful That we’ve had a warning, a reminder. So thank you Whoever you are For that deep deep punch...............

FOOTBALL DROPS A NAIL-BITER TO MILES
by Joel Worthington godragons.com JACKSON, Tenn. – The Lane College football team hosted Miles College on Saturday for Senior Day. The Golden Bears took an early lead when Kingston Davis broke free for a 56-yard touchdown run. The hosts then went three and out but benefited from a muffed punt that pinned Miles deep in their own territory. On their first play from scrimmage following the punt, the visitors tried to gain a little breathing room with a run up that middle that was stuffed by Andrew Farmer for a safety. Lane took the ensuing free kick and drove 50 yards in 10 plays capped by a 1-yard touchdown run by Ike Brown. The Dragons defense earned another stop and struck quickly with a 60-yard touchdown pass from Michael Huntley to Anthony Evelyn for a 15-7 lead. Miles would earn the next four scores to build a 31-15 lead with under 10 minutes to play in the game. The Lane offense then caught fire, putting together and nine play, 75-yard drive capped by a 4-yard touchdown run from Huntley. A two-point conversion from Joseph Logan made it a one possession game with 8:45 remaining. A short drive followed for the Golden Bears, moving 47 yards in 2:46 that resulted in a 33-yard field goal for the visitors. The Dragons immediately struck back, scoring on the second play of the next drive when Huntley connected with Evelyn for a 65-yard touchdown. Huntley then punched it in for another two points to make it a field goal game. On the following drive, Jeffrey Johnson had a huge tackle for loss on a second down play to force a third and long for Miles, but Davis broke through the line for an 11-yard gain and first down as the two-time defending SIAC champions escaped Jackson with a win. Third down was the Achilles heel for Lane as they converted zero out of 11 chances while allowing 8-of-14 conversions on defense. Huntley finished with 248 yards passing while Evelyn had 176 yards receiving. Johnson led the defense with 11 total tackles while Farmer finished with 10. Mackenzie Howard was in on nine tackles and had a fumble recovery. The Dragons will travel to Alabama for a showdown with Tuskegee next Saturday, October 23rd. Kickoff is set for 1:00 PM and the game will be aired on ESPN+.

Cont’d from page 7 The Discovery Material is something -like I’ve been showing on my Facebook page. If you got videos, you got recordings, you got statements, the state must give that to you. You can have that yourself. Even if your lawyer gets it, you are entitled to have a copy for yourself so that you can look at and examine the information for yourself. See you might be at home and can’t get to the lawyer’s office. You want to read and study so that you can help your attorney. That’s what it’s for. And so, when I asked him for that, he talking bout “ ‘you don’t need that. I got it.’ I said ‘Naw! I do need mine!’ He said ‘what you need it for?’ And I said ‘because I’ma read my case.’ I said ‘I don’t sit up in this jail and play cards and dominoes. I got a case and my whole thing is trying to get out of jail.’ And so we had a little back and forth about that. He said that ‘that information cost money’ and I said ‘well I paid you $10,000 Mr. Anyanwu. You mean to tell me out of $10,000 you can’t make copies of my records and send them to me in this jail?’ And so what he did he said he made a copy of MY RECORD. He gave me a copy of all the old charges and sent that to me. I said, ‘Naw Man! That ain’t what I want!’ I said ‘I want my Discovery. I want this murder case. . . the evidence in this murder case!’ ‘You can’t get the video,’ is what I was told by Bede Anyanwu. I said, ‘but I can get the reports, I can get all the statements.’ And we had this back and forth for a long time and so I’m saying I don’t know what’s going on with this man. So at this time, Corrion wasn’t locked up yet. They hadn’t found him yet. I think when Corrion came in, that’s when we had the preliminary hearing. Daniel Taylor was there and giving Corrion paperwork. And so, I would get Corrion’s paperwork and look at it because ours was the same Discovery. And so, I look at his and as I’m studying the case, I said ‘man they got all this stuff right here? What the hell is my lawyer talking about?’ So Corrion, he don’t really know what to look for. But as I’m seeing it, it shows that we don’t have no business being here!
And so, we go back to court and Bede Anyanwu don’t show up! Daniel Taylor don’t show up.

And so, I tell the judge -Judge (Roy) Morgan,- I say, ‘look here Judge, Mr. Morgan, we got a Motion Date coming up. Mr. Anyanwu won’t come talk to me. We got to file - You see the Motion Date means you got to get all your motions in before you go to court. It’s called “Preserving the Record.” Say I want to file a motion for a suppression of evidence, or what they call “the fruit of the poisonous tree document”. That means if you’ve obtained evidence illegally, you can’t use it. If you can show the court that it was obtained illegally, they can’t use it against you in court. And so it was a lot of motions that I was trying to file on my behalf because of the First Degree Murder Charge. Who ever hear of a person with a first degree murder charge -if you didn’t plea to it- there’d be no motion filed? I’m pleading ‘Not Guilty’ in this case and I got multiple issues about my case that this attorney refuses to file. He says he doesn’t file ‘frivolous motions.’ Every motion I put in front of Alex Camp, the Judge said I had merit for them. And I got awarded that. So when Mr. Anyanwu refused to file motions and refused to come and see me, Judge Morgan -It’s on public record now and that’s why I’m asking now for the records and the City and County audio tape. I don’t need it to be transcribed for me, I want the audio tape because on the audio tape you will hear the Judge admonishing Bede Anyanwu for not being there and it’s going to show that the arguments I made to the Judge about Bede Anyanwu not being there for my case. My trial is over with now and they should have no problem releasing it. I’ve been going down there for the last week trying to get Mrs. Kathy Blount to release it and they keep giving me kickback, kickback. It’s not stopping here, Mr. Marable. I think the City, the DA’s Office and the Police Department all played a part in conspiring to have me locked up and I think I can prove maliciousness on their behalf.
