Just when you with Ray Jones Send photos to: think you got numberonecoach@hotmail.com nature figured out or 731-694-8614 all you have to do is wait a while and find we are not in control of anything. I had a call from my neighbor to tell me that lighting had just struck a tree in my yard. I asked him was the tree still standing and he said yes so I felt relieved. However, when I got home I saw that the tree was split right down the middle and the tree was gonna have to come down. At first I thought “well no rush I can get to it some time this winter”. Wrong, the tree died, leaves started falling and the bark begin to come off and left the tree looking like a person standing there with no clothes on. Unless your insurance is different from mine the amount they paid for removal was not even close to the price for removal. Well here we go, after about a week long process the tree was removed and so was my check book. Unfortunately for me I had just had a huge tree removed a few months ago. So what’s the moral to this story? We are not in control of anything concerning Mother Nature. Mother Nature sends down the rain as well as the sunshine but when the lighting comes calling we all must be thankful that it was a tree and not us. I’m so Blessed that the tree took the hit and not me.

East Jackson neighbors concerned with “trash piles”
Neighbors in areas of East Jackson are concerned with “trash piles” not being removed or picked up in some instances over a month. Mr Charles Herron and two anonymous neighbors in the neighborhood have contacted staff at CSE sharing their concerns with trash pikes not being picked up. Staff at CSE toured the area this week and seen over 17 claw/trash piles in the areas of James, Ash, Hillcrest Circle, Barham and Holland Streets off or near East Chester. We’ve asked and encouraged residents to call the City of Jackson’s Health and Sanitation Departments for service, 731425-8545 or 311. Residents indicated they’ve reported these problems areas and some piles have remained not picked up for over a month now. CSE staff will reach out to the City of Jackson representatives for a reply. Residents also indicated they’ve contacted their city council representatives also for assistance. It is our understanding the City of Jackson now provides trash claw piles pick up with their claw trucks. Mr Herron (right) said “these trash piles are unhealthy and hazardous to children playing in the neighborhood, and i wish the city would please come and pick up this trash.”

Frankie said the large sticks are $50 and the smaller ones are $25 Lax is also the owner of Maxxguard Security Company in Jackson and a loyal fan of the legendary McNairy County Sheriff. Frankie said “I met Sheriff Buford Pusser at a WBBJ TV telethon as a little boy as my father (Frank Lax) shared many stories with me about Sheriff Pusser. My dad also played parts in the Walking Tall movies” I’ve followed the life of Buford Pusser all my life and also share the fascinating parts of his life and his tough approach on organized crime in Tennessee”. As a promoter of this area I wanted to make his “Walking Tall” movie sticks available to people” people are welcome to stop by anytime and see myself or staff at Maxxguard Security for your own “Sheriff Buford Pusser stick” It’s amazing how after the years, Buford Pusser like Elvis Presley still remains fond in our hearts and has a loyal following of people around the world”. And Your Point is . . .
Jabari Coxwas honored last week by Judah Ministries First Lady Pastor Valerie Mcelralth for his heroic actions at Pope Elementary School. Pope Principal:
“Your son is a hero, he’s so heroic. He’s our Pope Hero!”
On Monday September 13, 2021 I received a phone call from Pope Elementary school principal. I answered the phone & immediately she was so apologetic & sounded so nervous.. And I instantly began to think something horrible had happened to Jabari. She then told me she had Jabari (Cox) in the office with her. She said I am so sorry to have to tell you this “Jabari reported a student that brought a gun to school.” I said ‘JESUS’ and began to cry and tell God thank you. She said “your son is a hero, he’s so heroic. He’s our Pope Hero!” She went on to tell me how brave he is and bold. I was happy to hear this, but I was too thankful to God for covering my son and Pope Elementary.
This could’ve went another way but God already knew this would take place which is why he lead my Pastor & First Lady (Nelson and Valerie Mcelralth, Sr.) to cover & pray over all the Judah kids before returning to school. Pope honored Jabari with gifts on this week & thanks, & so did his church Judah Ministries. God is so faithful. I pray over my children & anoint them with oil every day & I’m always sure to do this before Jabari goes to school. Pray over your children, anoint them with oil. Pray for the schools & teachers, janitors, guidance counselors, bus drivers, cafeteria staff, cover everything when you pray! Trinity Cox

If We Must Die
BY CLAUDE MCKAY If we must die, let it not be like hogs Hunted and penned in an inglorious spot, While round us bark the mad and hungry dogs, Making their mock at our accursèd lot. If we must die, O let us nobly die, So that our precious blood may not be shed In vain; then even the monsters we defy Shall be constrained to honor us though dead! O kinsmen! we must meet the common foe! Though far outnumbered let us show us brave, And for their thousand blows deal one deathblow! What though before us lies the open grave? Like men we’ll face the murderous, cowardly pack, Pressed to the wall, dying, but fighting back! “If We Must Die” is a poem by Claude McKay published in the July 1919 issue of The Liberator. McKay wrote the poem in response to mob attacks by white Americans upon African-American communities during the Red Summer.

LATE PICK SEALS VICTORY FOR DRAGONS
by Joel Worthington FORT VALLEY, Ga. – Head football coach Vyron Brown and the Lane football team spent their second straight weekend in Georgia and like last week, the Dragons are returning home with a victory. Down 24-14 with under 10 minutes to play in the game, quarterback Michael Huntley led the Dragons on a 15 play, 79-yard drive capped by a 3-yard touchdown pass to defensive end Andrew Farmer who was in the game as a tight end. “We went with the hot hand late,” said Brown of going with Huntley at quarterback down the stretch. “Mike had his timing down well and we needed a spark, and he came in the game and led the offense well.” A bad snap foiled the extra point and made the score 24-20. Fort Valley picked up a first down on the following drive before an errant pass downfield from Tyrell Jackson found Lane defensive back Walter Tatum who picked it off and gave the visitors the ball with 7:17 to go at their own 25-yard line. Huntley found Anthony Evelyn on the first play and the senior took it 43 yards to the home 32-yard line. Five plays later, Huntley found O’Joshua Bunton for a 22-yard touchdown. The extra point from Noah Shalz gave Lane a 27-24. FVSU threatened on their last possession, moving the ball 46 yards on seven plays before Tatum again intercepted an errant pass from Jackson in the endzone to seal the victory for the Dragons. Brown was thankful after the game for the support his team had from the Lane family: “We are blessed and thankful for the support from the Lane community. We appreciate all the prayers and well wishes from the alums and supporters.” The Dragons will play Edward Waters next Saturday in Jacksonville, Fla. At 6:00 PM EST. -golcdragons.com

This has been my family home for 41 years. This summer I made the decision to sell it. I knew that I not only wanted an agent who could maneuver the market (especially with me being away) but also an agent who would protect me emotionally throughout this process. This house was where I always felt closest to my mother since her passing 8 years ago. Sandra Carter was my agent sent from above. She kept me focused throughout the process, while taking into consideration the emotions as they surfaced. Thank you , Sandra, for everything. To the West Tennessee area, you can’t go wrong with Sandra as your agent. Chrystal Pearson Benson
