The Crime SEEN Examiner Newspaper is joining efforts with Newly elected city councilman Mr Richard Donnell, along with the Sunday morning 96 KIX - 95.7 show “Community Feedback “ to encourage citizens of Jackson to please don’t “dump your trash” the City of Jackson health and sanitation department has a system where citizens can call 731-425-8545 and schedule a time to place your trash and debris to the curb for a scheduled pickup. The City claw trucks are doing the job of responding to these calls and with our help can soon have delinquent trash piles picked up. The photos represent trash and claw piles which have been placed to the street curb awaiting to be picked up and taken to the landfill.
Councilman Donnell also indicated he has spoken with city officials and he understands the health code officers are also in the patrol for “illegal dumping” by contractors and others dumping trash illegally into residential
And Julie Faulder Holt ran unapposed with 665 votes for district 9. Other members of the Jackson city council re-elected were Richard Donnell district 4, with 498 votes
Johnny Dodd, district 2 with 439 votes, Russ McKelvey district 8 with 866 votes and Marda Phelps Wallace district 7 with 993 votes. There were only 8,379 votes cast in this municipal city election which represents only 20.12% percent of 41,645 registered voters.
Early voting for the Jackson Mayors run off will begin May 24 and will continue through June 8, 2023 according to Lori Lott of the Madison County election commission.

There are crappie and then again there are CRAPPIE. Every now and then you have one of those catches that make you feel like you don’t have to catch anything else that day. That is what happened with Lovie Marable while fishing with his own line of crappie jigs to land a 3.2 pound crappie. FYI a 2 pound crappie is big and worthy of being proud of but when they get past 3 pounds it is extremely rare. It has to be extra special to catch a personal record with your own line of lures. Big fish don’t just bite anything and it has to be special to entice them. The Marable brand got the attention of a huge crappie that would otherwise still be lurking around waiting for something that looks delightful to him.

I recently attended the funeral of a 34year coach and teacher in West Tennessee. He was almost 80 years old with many physical limitations but mentally and socially very active. He spent time with former students by calling or visiting them at a local café. He had his life-long friends prepared to speak at his funeral. He was such a loving person who lived for others more than himself. Two men had no trouble speaking for 1½ hours about him. Wow! I thought. What will be said about me? Immediately I recalled a short but powerful poem. See how this affects the healthy way you choose to live your life.

I read of a man who stood to speak at the funeral of a friend.
He referred to the dates on her tombstone from the beginning…to the end. He noted that first came the date of her birth and spoke of the following date with tears
But he said what mattered most of all
was the dash between those years. For that date represents all the time that she spent alive on earth
And now only those who loved her know what that little line is worth. For it matters not, how much we own, the cars…the house…the cash. What matters is how we live and love and how we spend our dash. So think about this long and hard; are there things you’d like to change?
For you never know how much time is left that can still be rearranged. If we could just slow down enough to consider what’s true and real And always try to understand the way other people feel.
And be less quick to anger and show appreciation more And love the people in our lives like we’ve never loved before.

The City of Jackson along with the city council wants our neighborhoods to be free of trash and litter.
For me, most days begin with my morning ritual; today was no different. I first completed my gratitude list, which included a couple of pleasant surprises: invitations to share my gratitude message with a group of writers and on live-streamed radio. I then moved on to my inspirational reading, which began with this quote: “Behind every blade of grass, there is a special angel whispering, Grow, Grow.”
“Hmmm,” I thought, “Today, I feel like a blade of grass. I, too, have angels nudging me to grow, grow.” So I decided to add my guardian angels to my Gratitude list, and beside each name, I wrote a few sentences on how they had nudged me over the years, even when I wasn’t listening. It didn’t take me long to fill up a couple of pages in my journal. That’s how Gratitude journaling works. Something nudged me to reread the quote (perhaps one of my angels), and this time my “monkey mind” took me to the words “grow and glow.” For a second, I wondered where the word “glow” came from, but the answer came quickly, it was the radiant glow within me, the result of learning to live grateful. And it’s that glow that inspires me to keep sharing my small change blessons (lessons and blessings). Yeap, the universe was lining things up for this to be a great day!
But, before I could close my journal, my monkey mind leaped again, this time recalling a public health program that my department used to promote titled “Grow and Glow.” It was a WIC (Women, Infants and Children) Breastfeeding Peer Counseling Program that encouraged breastfeeding among WIC moms and provided support to those seeking to breastfeed. So, to satisfy my monkey mind’s curiosity, I decided to see if the program was still active and to get a feel of why it was titled “Grow and Glow.”
So I did a little research and learned that “Grow and Glow” consisted of 10 training modules, and I was shocked to discover that one module included a short session on journaling. Breastfeeding mothers were asked to journal how it felt to breastfeed and to share their barriers to breastfeeding. Imagine that - a government-sponsored program that recognized the health benefits of journaling. All I could do was smile. I didn’t take the time to research the success rate of the program but because it’s still being implemented, I hope young breastfeeding mothers and their babies are still “Growing and Glowing.”
So there, I had my answer. And as for my monkey
mind, it does what monkey minds do, 24-7, even when we are asleep; it shifted back to the quote: “Behind every blade of grass there is a special angel whispering, Grow, Grow.” Like grass, glowing and growing is a lifelong journey, one that requires support from others. Grass needs help from the sun, rain, and soil to grow; they are its angels. We humans need everything that grass needs and more. We need each other.
I’m grateful for today’s blessons:
-invitations to share my Gratitude story to two new contacts
-a reminder to never lose sight of the work that my guardian angels do behind the scenes
-you, my readers
-learning how to tame my “monkey mind” Listing your blessings each day is the beginning of learning to live grateful. Here are a few more benefits of Gratitude Journaling:
-It slows the “monkey mind” and satisfies the soul’s curiosity
-It helps you focus on what is important
-It fosters a positive mindset and the ability to bounce back from difficult situations
-It reduces anxiety and enables you to manage stress
-It improves self-confidence and self-esteem, making you feel better about yourself
-It teaches you to appreciate the simple things in life
-It helps you become the best version of yourself
-It is transformative; it changes you on the inside
-It makes you “Grow and Glow”
-It prepares you to put wings on your dreams If you’re already journaling, for the next seven days, take some time each day to list one person, place, or thing that helps you grow and glow, and beside each name, write a few sentences about how they help you grow and glow. Want to make someone on the list glow? Send them a thank you letter. It’s a small change that over time, yields big results.

Without competition one grows lazy and sloppy, especially those bureaucracies that manage to always draw from other’s taxes even in spite of their obvious failure! Fear paralyzes people and fogs their decisions. Let’s not let fear of failure keep us from competing and do the right thing for the majority of students in Madison County. Many of our Level 5 schools are failing miserably so let’s be completely transparent about the state of Madison County Schools. Hitler, one of the most modern propagandists ultimately was exposed as the greatest failure! Madison County Schools desperately need God, Country and respect for teachers in their curriculum. Kelvin Streeter,Chairman of the event, was instrumental in pulling the successful event together.

Things are changing very quickly in our American culture and I suppose we won’t understand the full causes and effects of these changes until 50-100 years from now. I did recently run across a study published in 1934 that I found interesting. I’ll throw it against the wall and you can tell me if you think it sticks. In 1934 Joseph Unwin, a Oxford and Cambridge trained social anthropologist published the results of a massive seven volume study that he had spent over 20 years researching. The study title was “Sex and Culture” and in it he had thoroughly examined 112 societys and cultures going back 5000 years. The study included mighty cultures such as Roman, Egyption and Greek and also Amazon tribes, Pacific Islanders, Far Eastern empires, Native American tribes and all in between. He was looking to find common factors that initiated and lead to either the flourishing of a society or to it’s decay and decline. What he found in every instance and without exception was that the operant factor across all lines was the tightening or loosening of sexual conventions. When a civilization becomes prosperous they became increasingly sexually liberal and that lead to accelerated social energy and diminished “creative” and “expansive” energy.. Agriculture. art, architecture, military power, and economic conditions rapidly declined. A summary of his findings:
(1) Effects of sexual restraint - Increased sexual restraint either before or after marriage always lead to a flourishing of culture while conversely an increased sexual freedom always lead to a collapse of a society 3 generations later. (2) The single most influencial factor - Wheather pre-marrage chastity was required. It had a big effect either way (3) Highest flourishing of culturePre-nuptial chastity combined with absolue monogamy. (4) Effect of abandoning pre-nuptial chastity - When pre-nuptial chastity was no longer the norm the absolute monogamy, religion and rational thinking disappeared within 3 generations , or about 100 years.
If you would like to guess where our society falls on this spectrum my guess would be that we are probably
moving at this time from the second to the third generation in the time line of decline. Pre-nuptial chastity and absolute monogamy ceased to be the norm during the sexual revolution of the 1960’s and has lead to all the varients we see today with no end in sight and if you have lived over the last 50 years you can see the noticeable decline in the economy, agriculture, architecture, arts and military readiness during that time. When did you last see a beautiful building or meaningful piece of art created? We are actively killing the effectiveness of our farms and military and the economy is just a house of cards at this point. Another observation of the Unwin study is that these situations seem to be irreverseably one put into motion and in all cases a declining culture was either taked over by another culture that was not in a state of decline or simply ceased to continue to exist from a basic lack of will and motivation.It’s worth noting that Joseph Unwin was not a religious person so his findings should not be viewed as slanted due to personal bias. If his assumptions about history continue to hold true I won’t be around to view the result but I suppose I will have been along for part of the ride to get there.

Sheriff Wiser and the employees of the Madison County Sheriff’s Office Tennessee were hard at work today cleaning up our county as part of the Trashercise Trash Bash event this week!
Sheriff Wiser is grateful for employee’s dedication to volunteer to keep our county clean.
The Sheriff’s Office is asking that Madison Countians come together in each neighborhood to make a difference in our community.
Tennessee data indicates that it costs taxpayers $11 million each year to pick up the trash Tennesseans throw on the ground. That’s not even counting what individual cities spend on litter pickup in their areas. It takes 12 million miles of driving to pick up litter in our state. What’s more, 18% of all littered items end up in our streams and waterways as pollution. We must all do our part to keep our communities clean.

Last Saturday our Miss Juneteeth Jackson Queens completed their community service project by gifting the Mothers at Aspell Manor. They were able to take in a lil history about Gil Scott-Heron and Trunetta Atwater shared the history of the Train Depot. Tru let them have fun in her Selfie Museum.
