learn how to be better scout leaders and exchange our best practices from our countries in a natural environment wich will remind us to return back to the basic scout values Baden Powell established more than 100 years ago. 4 As our great founder said, we have great power to do good or to do harm to the Scouts placed under our charge. It largely depends on our character and our example to them which way they go.
For the second time, the Eurotransit Network meeting will take place in Romania. We are pleased to welcome you in Cioclovina, the first scout centre in Hunedoara. Cioclovina Scout Centre is located in the Grădiștea Muncelului - Cioclovina Natural Park. The Natural park’s goal is to protect and conserve the natural habitat with respect to fauna, flora, forestry, hydrology, geology, speology, paleontology and pedology. For whoever wanders for the first time through Grădiștea Muncelului - Cioclovina Natural Park the landscape becomes strikingly charming through the variety of reliefs, through the combination of ancient Dacian history, and through the ethnographic diversity so specific to the villages from here. This zone reveals
the obvious touristic attraction for all; among the various mountains, valleys, rivers, and breath-taking scenery spotted with ancient ruins, one encounters a natural landscape of unsurpassed beauty. The Park helds a lot of historical monuments of national and international value (included in the UNESCO Patrimony): “the heart of the Dacian civilization” – Sarmizegetusa Regia – the citadel of the seat of the Dacian kings, in conjunction with the following citadels: Costeşti, Blidaru, Feţele Albe, Vârful lui Hulpe, Piatra Roșie, and Bănița. Also, a lot of costums and traditions are still taking place in Cioclovina, so you will feel like you returned back in time. All the villagers are very open and kind and will do their best to make you feel like you are home.
HOW TO GET TO US? Cioclovina Scout Centre is situated at the end of the road Haţeg – Boşorod – Cioclovina (asphalt until a few kilometres after Boşorod, then backroad accessible for any vehicle, in normal conditions). How about a common project in 2016? Eurotransit Network is connecting scouts for 25 years. We can now think bigger and build a common project for all the countries who have joined our network. Sure, it would be a challenge, but as scouts, we love challenges, don’t we?
