PORT FOLIO DESIGN
ABOUT ME My name is Cristina Cånovas, I studied interior design at the EASD of Valencia (Spain), however, I decided to finish the last two years of course in Madrid´s ESD. I consider myself a proactive person who enjoys projecting a different vision of the world through my work using plenty of sources related to architecture-and other disciplines. I have also been involved in some photography, video editing and product design projects. In order to improve my professional skills, I enrolled in the Master of Design and Product Development at EASD of Valencia. This has given me the opportunity to work directly with design companies in the development of projects and real prototypes. My everyday routine helps me to learn and discover new ways of understanding the world . During this process build the easiest and simplest way to offer my particular vision of what surrounds me. When I work I aim to the improve everyday life through design, in fact, my main objective is to offer people attractive, useful and simple design products.

PRODUCT DESIGN
“Tale & Gest” The lamp is designed to shine the light on the central axis. The LEDS are situated on the different floors and the cables should be introduced inside the structure, nevertheless, the prototype was made with halogen, because It was smaller than the original design and for this reason we couldn’t introduce all the necessary cables. This project was presented in the valencia design week (VDW) and exposed during the whole event
INTERIOR DESIGN
“DVINOS Is a chain restaurant opened in 2009, Dvinos offers to its guests a large amount of gourmet tapas prepared instantly. This project emerged from the intention of relate the image of the company DVINOS with the traditional culture of Cordoba city. We used mosaic tiles on the walls and the floor to represent the typical interiors.
URBAN INTERVENTION
“Cuatro Islas” It is an intervention project in the garden of the “Escuela Superior de Diseño” of Madrid. It was an urgent project, mainly because the students needed a living-room where they can study, relax or spend time with other members of the school. Trying to find a short-term solution for our problem We decided to carry on with this project even though there was a shortage in time and budget for the realization of permanent installation.
“Fábrica de Hielo” This was presented as “Final Degree Project” in the ESD of Madrid. Focused on a community and cultural space of Valencia. It can be considered as a rehabilitation project which aims to recover the old ice factory, once used by fishermen from the Malvarosa beach (Valencia), and convert it into a point of cultural expression for the neighborhood of Cabanyal. This neighbourhood hosts many events related to the promotion of Valencian traditional culture and promotes art as an expression of the vitality which characterizes “El barrio del Cabañal”. Nowadays it is considered Cultural Heritage (BIC), and it should be respected and promoted. Nevertheless Cabanyal is waiting for the annulment of controversial PEPRI, which is a plan that pretends to “facilitate” access to the beach from the city center, being necessary to demolish part of the neighbourhood for its realization.
Thanks to the high score obtained by the project, was selected to expose the PĂşblico Design Fest held at Matadero Madrid.

VISUAL PROJECTS
“Des-conecta” This video was set up as a presentation of “Disconnect” . The project is focused on the creation of three modules for different activities, placing them in public areas used by business executives to avoid stress. Our project try to offer ephemeral places where they can connect with other executives and reciprocally encourage socialization and relaxation

“Proposed intervention” The video expresses an intervention propose at the Principe Pio station. The project is mainly inspired in the movie “Pi, faith in chaos” and It tries to induce the metro users to feel like the main character in the movie who suffers anguish. Therefore, I have reinforced the content of the video with the electronic Poem which was exhibited in Brussels 1958, and made by the architects Le Corbusier and lannis Xenakis. In addition, the video includes scenes of “Holly mountain”, directed by Alejandro Jodorowsky, being this a surrealistic and psychotropic film which express and show the madness of the human.
