Half Term I've lost mi scissors!! Been with me man and boy. Can't cut cloth with anything else. Only one pair I hear you say, well not really but they had grown used to my hand, attached you might say. A bit like a wart or a rheumatic thumb. I shall not rest------------. We have some new cloths as well as others you haven't yet bought. So do your best. We have accumulated a large amount of 1/4mtr to 1/2mtr bits of dozens of cloths, ideal for starters for a class. Give us a shout if you are interested. They won't be free but they will be cheap. Happy sewing
NV1 A Furnishing Off white/cream 60in wide polyester/dupion fabric which has been used in the making of blinds. It might make a shower curtain, but then it would need to be waterproof so perhaps we should rule that out. It has an inbuilt slight stiffness and I am sure it will make great conservatory blinds. £2.50 per mtr. NV2 A Little Less for Your Money This is a 45in wide, and therefore not newly made, nice chunky 6 wale corduroy, 100% cotton. It comes in a delicious shade of pale lavender/ blue and is £3.50 per mtr.
NV6 Aphrodite Caroline went on a Hen do to Benaldmadena, this modern trend for stag and hen parties abroad seems daft to me. However not only did they travel far but also they had to have pop star fancy dress for one of the nights. Caroline chose Kylie Minogue and the white outfit she made reminds me of Aphrodite. It is a very pure white 60in wide nylon lycra fabric, not see through except perhaps when wet but I'm not allowed to even think about things like that. We only have a few metres so if you fancy yourself as a Greek goddess, do buy some. £6.00 per mtr. NV7 A Little Something for the Weekend
NV3 Always Look on the Bright Side A couple of sample rolls of a poly/wool bold check fabric. I don't want to use the word tartan but it is that sort of check. a) Red, yellow and black. b) Turquoise, navy, red. Each of the coloured yarns crisscrosses and they are then overlaid by a big white square over check. They are bold. They will make wonderful blankets for your trips out in the horseless carriage in the coming winter or failing that something to wrap up in when the power goes off. You don't need to restrict yourself, make a cape, skirt or trousers. All to be admired. £6.00 per mtr. NV4 A cloth for all seasons 60in wide, polyester, lightweight suiting in a grey marl, the overall effect being pale grey with surface interest which is part of the weave. A good weight, it drapes well and because it's polyester, can be chucked in the washing machine, tumbled dried and whatever else. I personally wouldn't put it in a tumble dryer but what do I know? £3.50 per mtr.
54in wide cotton/lycra shirting in a stripe design, indeed it is quite a bold stripe incorporating the colours pink, turquoise, green, purple and other shades of greens and pinks thrown in. The weave is an intricate rope stitch design, there is a lot going on in the fabric and in addition it stretches. Something I'm sure you will want to get your teeth into. Caroline does not like it particularly, she thinks I'm mad but you have been in touch with my mad side before haven't you. Super cloth beautifully made. £4.25 per mtr.
NV8 A Suiting 60in wide poly/wool suiting, originally made for a famous high street store The cloth did at one time have a contrasting cloth to go with it but not any more. A fine half inch sort of herringbone weave, without actually having the herringbone. It has different patterns which look herringbone-ish from afar but not close to. It comes in a colour that might be described as pale mauve. It's on its own and needs a new home. A very nice cloth beautifully woven. £4.00 per mtr.
NV9 A Fit of Pique 60 inch wide white poly/cotton NV5 A bit one sided 20cm wide self- adhesive Velcro, but only the hook side. Why this should be left when all the looped side has gone heaven only knows. Anyway there you go. If you can find a use for it let me know. 100mtrs white, there is also a small amount of black and beige. 25p per mtr.
woven pique, not used a great deal these days it has to be said, but nonetheless a lovely fabric to wear, it has a beautiful hand is very light and very wearable. £3.00 per mtr.
