‘Bout Further Ado’ During my whistle stop tour of the far flung capitals of the world as a man of cloth, not as a man of the cloth but as a man of fabric, I have seen I suppose as much as I want to see. We can innovate as much as we like but we don't seem to be able to do better than cotton and wool in however many forms we can disguise it. Which brings me to the story of the boll weevil. In fact I think there is a song about the boo weevil, and how it does and always will, eat the cotton plant. As of late it has apparently eaten most of it and as a result the price has rocketed, somebody no doubt will blame that on BP as well. Has our special relationship with America gone down the pan? Send in Prescott I say. We hope you have all summered well, no doubt those of you towards the south east corner of the country have summered in a warmer fashion than the rest of us and possibly in a drier fashion too. We have a hosepipe ban in our region and as they announced it the heavens opened and they have been doing it pretty much ever since, and we are now half way through August. Our new offices now have a well-worn look and are festooned with photographs of cloth, samples of cloth, lists of fabrics, computers, printers and a board for holidays, from which I am markedly absent. Caroline appears to have me absent on days I am sure I was here. Eart be, bout further ado lets get to cloth.

FA1 A cloth for all seasons 60in wide, polyester, light weight suiting in a grey marl, the overall effect being pale grey with surface interest which is part of the weave. A good weight, it drapes well and because it's polyester, can be chucked in the washing machine, tumbled dried and whatever else. I personally wouldn't put it in a tumble dryer but what do I know? £3.50 per mtr.

FA2 A bit one Sided 20cm wide self- adhesive Velcro, but only the hook side. Why this should be left when all the looped side has gone heaven only knows. Anyway there you go. If you can find a use for it let me know. 100mtrs white, there is also a small amount of black and beige. 25p per mtr.

to wear, it has a beautiful hand is very light and very wearable. £3.00 per mtr

FA5 Aquarius a)

60in wide, cotton lycra stretch, baby towelling in the palest green imaginable. £5.00 per mtr. b) 60in wide polyester polar fleece in pale green. £6.00 per mtr. These go together, they don't match in colour exactly but they are as near as damn it.

FA6 Arts for Art's Sake - Linen This is a 56in wide 100% percent linen in off white/cream with a big leafy pattern in dark grey, not too dark but dark enough. Very nice! £6.50 per mtr.

FA3 Aphrodite A little while ago Caroline went on a Hen do to Benaldmadena, this modern trend for stag and hen parties abroad seems daft to me. However not only did they travel far but also they had to have Pop star fancy dress for one of the nights. Caroline chose Kylie Minogue and the White outfit she made reminds me of Aphrodite. It is a very pure white 60in wide nylon lycra fabric, not see through except perhaps when wet but I'm not allowed to even think about things like that. We only have about 20mtrs so if you fancy yourself as a Greek goddess, do buy some. £6.00 per mtr.

FA7 Ahoy There 60in wide navy blue or emerald green and white striped twill on identical cloth to that in item 'Chef'. They are both very striking fabrics and are £4.50 per mtr.

FA8 Big Boy 60in wide, 98% cotton 2% lycra heavy denim with a traditional twill weave made up of dyed blue yarn and natural coloured yarns, which is how denim ought to made. £4.75 per mtr.

FA9 Bargain Bales FA4 A Fit of Pique 60 inch wide white poly/cotton woven pique, not used a great deal these days it has to be said, but nonetheless a lovely fabric

We have bales that consist of approximately 10mtrs of a varying range of fabrics we cannot say which. All fabrics are good, there is no rubbish and the pieces vary in width from 45in
