ELIZABETH FRISK INTERVIEW

by Er ica Car n egie

Q: Congratulations on your new title! What's next? Do you compete in an International Pageant? A: We have the International Pageant coming up in July, and I am very excited because it will be my first time traveling somewhere other than the USA or Panama. I am very excited to explore Guatemalan history, tradition, and culture. Something about history and culture has always been very important to me! We also have interviews scheduled, and I am trying to be proactive in my community during the pandemic to show others that they matter. Q: What are you most excited about for the International Pageant? A: I am most excited to explore the gastronomy of Guatemala. For me food is a universal language. It's a way to connect everybody no matter which language you speak, your background, or where you come from. Q: A big part of pageantry is volunteer work and being active in your community. Tell us about your non-profit "Build Panama". A: Of course! My non-profit was founded in March 2020 and is called ?Build Panama?, and my goal is to be a resource for families and children who may not be as well off as others. I grew up in schools where most of the population did not come from the best background, but that doesn't negate the fact that we all deserve to have a bright future, to have the basic resources and opportunities that every child needs so they can grow, develop, and really look forward to tomorrow. Q: What advice would you give someone who is new to pageants? A: I say to never be afraid! Never be afraid to start something new. For example, I was someone who was a skeptic of pageants at first, but I am glad to have proven myself wrong by joining and exploring it first-hand. I don't think people should be afraid of criticism because at the end of the day it's a base to see where we can improve ourselves overall. So, my biggest advice would be to not be afraid!!
