You make sure you are wearing your student ID card around your neck at all times when you are in College. Your ID card has many purposes – it functions as your access card to enter and leave the college, as a library card for access to the Learning Resource Centre, to pay for college meals, and as an entry to exams. Most importantly, to keep our Colleges safe, all staff, students and visitors are required to wear ID badges at all times when they are onsite. You will be stopped by College staff if your ID card is not visible, and will need to purchase a replacement if you lose it. to wear your ID badge at all times who are exempt from the ‘No Hats’ policy will be given a badge to identify this.

This is your online Individual Learning Plan. You will use this with your tutors to record and monitor your study programme progress, your attendance, your support needs, and your future goals. As a live system it will provide up-to-date information about your progress for you, your tutor, and other key people to access. This might include your parents or carers if you are under 18, or your employer if you are an apprentice.

English and mathematics
Navigate
Navigate supports you to manage and keep track of your non-academic activities such as work experience, enrichment and work-related activities. These will support your transition from education to the workplace. Moodle Moodle is the College’s Virtual Learning Environment used by staff and students to access course information and resources. You can access Moodle via the college website if you are working remotely and need to access lesson notes, handouts, enter discussion forums, and communicate with your tutors. Moodle is also used for assignment submission, keeping your work secure and evidencing that you have submitted assignments on time, allowing you to view feedback and results once your tutor has marked your work. Your study programme is unique to you, and is designed with your end goals in mind. Each part of the programme is important and we will work to support you with each element so that you get the most out of your time at College.
If you haven’t already gained a GCSE grade 4 or above in English or mathematics, you will continue with these subjects as part of your study programme. So whether you are looking to move on to further training, university or employment you will have the opportunity to achieve the qualifications you need to progress.
Tutorial Each week you will meet with your tutor for a tutorial. This will include a programme of group sessions around themes including keeping safe, health and wellbeing, money management, careers and employability support. There will also be time for you to set and review your learning and progression targets. Your tutor will be monitoring your progress to make sure you are on track, and will be a point of contact for you if you need extra help or have a concern that could be preventing you from attending college or progressing with your studies.

On the first floor of the LRC you will find the Careers Hub, where you access drop-in advice sessions with a Careers Advisor and access a whole range of resources to support you with your career planning. At our Coulsdon campus, the LRC is found on the ground floor. In both of our centres, our team of friendly Study Support Assistants are always on hand to answer queries and provide advice and support. Also keep an eye on Moodle for library news and resources to help you with your studies. To maintain a clean and pleasant study environment for all users, please eat in the allocated areas outside the LRCs, as food and drinks are not permitted in our centres, with the exception of bottled water. Places to eat You will find refectories at both campuses that provide fantastic variety and great value for money, regularly featuring speciality cuisines such as Indian, Thai and Spanish. Our refectories are open 8:30am–2pm in Coulsdon and 8:30am–4pm in Croydon. Should you have any dietary requirements, please speak to a member of the catering team who will be happy to help. Vending machines are also available throughout our campuses, offering a range of drinks, snacks and confectionery.
Learning Resource Centres
Our Learning Resource Centres (LRC) are at the heart of learning for students, helping students to fulfil their potential and access the knowledge and resources they need. At our Croydon campus, the LRC is situated over three floors with staff available on each floor. There is a Welcome Desk on the 2nd floor and an Academic Help Desk for in-depth queries. Staff are always available to help with referencing, Athens databases and finding appropriate resources should you need it, or you can book a 1:1 session with a Subject Librarian to focus in depth on any of these areas.
Wi-Fi is available throughout the LRC, along with a range of computer and study areas. A wide range of resources are available in both book and eBook format, along with a wealth of online resources including databases and journals.

Located at the Croydon campus entrance on Park Lane, our training Salon and Spa is run by students under the supervision of our highly qualified staff with a wide range of industry experience. The latest hair, beauty and holistic treatments are offered at discounted rates offering fantastic value for money, and retail products are available at competitive rates. 3. You can keep track of your placement from start to finish using an online system called Navigate. This will help you prepare for your placement, allowing you to set goals, track your hours and monitor your progress.
1. At the start of term the Work Experience team will attend tutorials to let you know when you are scheduled to complete your work experience. This might be for a block week, or an extended placement of 1 to 2 days per week over several weeks. 2. The Work Placement Officers will work with you and your tutors to match you to a suitable high quality placement, and will support you before, during and after your placement.
Completing a work experience placement will ensure that you are able to finish your course with the skills, knowledge and expertise that employers are actively seeking in the working world. Work experience gives you the valuable opportunity to put your college learning into practice and increase your employability awareness and develop skills in your chosen industry. Student Committee
In September, students have the opportunity to apply to be part of the Student Executive team. Their role is to represent the views of their campus’ student committee to senior management. The Student Exec team is chaired by the Student President, and the team runs the Student Association on a day to day basis, and meets every two weeks throughout the academic year to discuss topics and plan actions.
Every student is automatically a member of Croydon College Student Association or Coulsdon College Student Association when they enrol. The Association is run by students and is here to represent you throughout your studies. We gather feedback from students about the college, coordinate campaigns, attend college meetings, organise activities and fundraise for charitable causes. Information about the student association’s activities will be published on Moodle, college notice boards, and the plasma screens around campus. By becoming a student rep you will be a spokesperson for your peers and the opportunity to influence the College’s environment and education provision. Your course group will elect their student reps during a tutorial session at the beginning of term one.

Croydon College welcomes students with learning difficulties, disabilities and medical conditions. The Additional Learning Support team supports these students to maximise their potential and achieve their learning goals. On enrolment, if you have declared a learning difficulty, disability or other support need, you will need to complete an ALS disclosure form. Respect – Use reliable sources and know how to legally access music, films and TV. If something happens that upsets you online, know where to find help. The Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre provides an easy way of reporting concerns www.ceop.gov.uk or you can approach a member of the Safeguarding and Wellbeing team. Terrorist content online has consequences in real life. If you see anything that worries or disturbs you then you can use the iREPORTit app which allows you to refer worrying or disturbing online content easily, effectively and completely anonymously.
