CRPR Aquatic Program Policies

Classes fill quickly; registration for sequential classes cannot be guaranteed.

•Please note that make-up sessions for all youth aquatic classes that are cancelled will be scheduled at the same time on the Friday following the cancelled class.

•Classes are held as scheduled except during electrical storms and facility closings.

•Only lesson participants are permitted on the pool deck areas. Parents and guests must remain in the designated waiting area.

Swimming Lessons Level 1

Designed for children beginning swim lessons. At completion, children are able to submerge face, float, and kick with support, demonstrate a combined stroke on front and on back, and demonstrate very basic water safety skills.

Prerequisite: Preschool or Level 1 with no fear of the water. At completion, children are able to submerge and retrieve objects, do a front float and glide, back float and glide, bob 10 times, demonstrate three yards of front and back crawl, and demonstrate basic water safety skills.

Discover SCUBA

Welch Pool

Have you ever wanted to try SCUBA? Here's your chance! There is nothing like breathing underwater for the very first time. The class will include instruction on safety, equipment selection and use, and time to experiment and play with underwater games and exploration. Try it out! Half-hour time slots start at 8:00, 8:30, 9:00 and 9:30 AM!

Summer Swim Team

TIME: 8-10 AM

FEES: FREE

This competitive program, for ages 5-18, is offered at Welch and Park Forest Community Pools, Monday-Friday, June 6-July 27. Summer Swim Team teaches teamwork, cooperation, and healthy competition. Both teams are members of the Central Pennsylvania Swim League (CPSL), which holds meets on weekday evenings. Swimmers must participate in two meets to be eligible to compete in the CPSL championship. Swimmers MUST be registered before they participate in any practices or meets. More swim team info. on our website. Swim team participants must be able to swim at least one length of the pool. This is not a learn-to-swim program.

Bubble Makers Youth SCUBA

Bubblemaker is as fun as it sounds--a chance for kids to blow bubbles by scuba diving! Children who are at least 8 years old can use scuba gear to breathe and swim underwater in the shallow part of the pool. In the Bubblemaker program, participants get a basic introduction to how to use scuba gear, how to clear a regulator and mask, and an overview of underwater breathing do’s and don’ts. The Bubblemaker Crew-Pak (included with registration) contains mementos of the experience and is full of fun surprises, such as a kid-sized beach towel, logbook, certificate, temporary tattoo, decal and the adorable and popular Bubblemaker water toy.

Seal Team Specialty Missions

Seal Team Youth SCUBA

The PADI Seal Team is for young scuba divers who are looking for action-packed fun in a pool by completing exciting AquaMissions. PADI Seal Team includes doing some cool stuff in the pool, meeting friends and sharing in the adventure of the underwater world. To join the PADI Seal Team, a child must be 8 years of age or older. AquaMissions 1-5, cover basic scuba diving skills, such as breathing underwater, clearing a mask of water, recovering a regulator and swimming around while experiencing the sensation of being weightless. Each in-water session takes about an hour. After the diver complete these AquaMissions they will become a recognized PADI Seal Team Member. Your experience may also count toward the PADI Open Water Diver course when you’re old enough to participate in the course.

Adult Swim Meet

Calling all Swimmers and Swammers! Join us at Welch Pool this summer to race for fun and prizes!

Events: 100 IM, 50 free, 50 breast, 50 fly, 50 back, and 100 free.

The meet will be conducted in lanes 3, 4, 5, 6. Lanes 2 and 7 will be empty, and lanes 1 and 8 will be open for warmup and warmdown.

8 AM warm-ups, 8:30 AM start, meet completed by 10 AM

Scuba

TIME: 7-9 PM

This course will teach participants the skills necessary to become open water certified SCUBA divers. Besides the six regular classes, four additional open water (non-pool) dives are required for certification. CRPR is pleased to partner with Sunken Treasure SCUBA Center to provide SCUBA opportunities in the Centre Region!

Note: Participants must supply their own mask, fins, and snorkel before the 3rd class. More information and the opportunity to purchase equipment will be available on the first day of class ($200-$300).
