Crunkatlanta Magazine 2017
Who is Crunkatlanta? I am Eric aka Crunkatlanta & Promotewho.com - The Internet Promoter, the one that is in love with Hip Hop. Follow me on Twitter @crunkatlantaMag . Born and raised in Detroit, MI. Yep, I'm from Seven Mile Rd and GreenfieldWhuddup Doe!! My first inspiration to get involved in the industry was when I found out that nobody heard of any Detroit rappers outside of Detroit ( Michigan). My first gig was with a friend (“T”) that I assisted with promoting Cam’ron back in 1997. From there I found what my purpose was supposed to be. My all time fantasy career was to become a quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons. Once that dream was cut short from not getting the response back from -tryouts and competition over the years. I became hooked on music and brand marketing. http://www.crunkatlanta.com ( Promo page )

Darrin Jones and I'm an independent artist out of Columbus Georgia. My music is that of a psychedelic, new wave sound that people of all ages and audiences can relate and/or bob their heads to. As of right now I have a few singles I'm pushing along with a visual and more singles releasing in the near future. Attached are my singles "Mobile Phone" and "4me". Both songs have that psychedelic new wave sound as aforementioned and are dope, upbeat bangers.

Detroit's Rising STAR, A’riah Detroit born and raised, A’riah is a rising star ready to take Detroit’s music scene to the next level. Together, A’riah’s explosive rap skills paired with A Wil Management are delivering much needed change to the current state of music affairs. This dynamic duo is responsible for creating the music that our city has been waiting to hear. At A Wil management, the philosophy is simple, “where there’s a Wil, there’s a way”. A’riah doesn’t just rap, but with every verse, she is living proof that a tough past does not determine one’s future, but it makes the road to success much more interesting. Her music tells the story of a young expressive artist that has channeled the events from her life, both good, and bad in a way that ensures that her voice will be heard by many. She grew up writing about the negative and sad experiences in her life as an outlet, and even sang to her mother to make her smile. As she grew older, those around her encouraged her to share her skills with the world. On her road to the top A’riah hopes that her music can influence others in the same ways that music has inspired her, and to be a source of inspiration for those who may find themselves listening to her music.
A’riah first video feature was JKT's "She Say She Not a Freak" shot in Detroit mi downtown at the White House directed by Delicious in 2016, and it was one of her favorite experiences, thanks to the guidance of Delicious. My next video was made men how my life played out. shot in Detroit mi featuring Herbie rich In 2016.

Sin Testigos by Cotola is the 1st single off the new Instrumental Project "Narco Bolero" This 40 minutes album will highlight the special secret ingredient that has defined his sound over the years: bolero. Romantic Latin American ballads from way back occasionally fused with psychedelic rock and jazz to create a haunting sound. The tracks on the album are inspired by warm and melancholic melodies from the extensive collection of rare old bolero vinyls that Cotola has been cultivating over the years (including Los Angeles Negros, Tericolas, Pasteles Verdes). The arrangements are contemporary, touching an emotional chord through the sound of the ballads, emerging as they did in the same generation as the height of African-American soul music, when Motown and Stax Records reigned supreme. The somber musical offering is amplified by a romanticizing sampling of quotes from obscure spanish gangster flics, highlighting the contrast between love and danger, a thematic tension that drives the soundtrack of an illicit music purveyor.

(June 13, 2018 -- Los Angeles, CA) 10 Summers and Interscope Records are thrilled to announce that British singer-songwriter, Ella Mai’s “Boo’d Up,” has reached #1 at urban radio. An achievement predominantly held strictly by rap and hip-hop songs. Produced by Mustard, the infectious R&B jam has crept up the charts, quietly catapulting into the Top 10 of Billboard’s prestigious Hot 100.
The half Jamaican-half Irish songstress will make her television debut this Friday on Jimmy Kimmel Live! As a result of the record’s chart-topping success, Ella Mai is surprising fans by announcing she’ll be heading out on her own Boo’d Up tour next month! Tickets go on sale this Friday at www.ellamai.com.
“Boo’d Up” is shaping up to be the surprise smash song of the summer. The single has been sitting pretty at #1 on the magazine’s Hot R&B Songs chart for the past four weeks. In addition to taking up space at #6 on Billboard’s Hot 100, the accompanying music video is currently the top music video on YouTube in the US, totaling over 72 million views. Noting Ella Mai’s success, Forbes magazine recently predicted, “She has a bright future ahead of her.”
It has been a whirlwind journey for Ella Mai, who signed with Mustard’s 10 Summers label and relocated to Los Angeles just two years ago. With a trilogy of critically acclaimed EPs (TIME, CHANGE and READY) under her belt, Ella Mai is now focused on putting the finishing touches on her forthcoming album. She is also confirmed to perform on the BET Experience Main Stage on June 22nd, at the 2018 BET Awards on June 24th and the ESSENCE Festival on July 7th.

ASTROKNOT - GROUND CONTROL TO ASTROKNOT
Astroknot is a hip-hop producer/rapper from Atlanta, Georgia who is beginning to make a big splash in Atlanta’s underground hip hop scene. His forthcoming album, Ground Control to Astroknot (Crock Pot Records) features vocals from Atlanta artists such as Curtis Williams, Goldyard, and Pancho the Great. Implementing a variety of musical influences, articulated melodies and intricate vocal structures, Ground Control to Astroknot delivers an effective and unique look into the complex evolution of Atlanta's rap culture.
Astroknot (Jake Otto McDonald) was born in Long Branch, New Jersey and raised on the beach until he was five. His adoptive father landed a new job that would move the family to Marietta, Georgia, where Jake spent his days skateboarding and dancing in Hip Hop dance crews. At the age of 14, Jake picked up his first guitar, sending him on a lifelong love affair with playing music. A multitalented musician, Jake played drums, bass and guitar in multiple different punk and metal bands throughout high school. It wasn’t until 11th grade when Jake wrote his first rap song, with longtime friend Chris Yonker (owner of Mammal Gallery, lead singer of Hello Ocho, bassist of Karaoke, drummer for Omni) while high on ecstasy. Jake traces his love for hiphop back to that moment, and said he’s never looked back since.
After high school, Jake moved to a house in East Atlanta, a block away from Gucci Mane's famous Texaco at the corner of Bouldercrest and Eastland Rd— “It was an absolute shit hole, but it was our shit hole. Four bedrooms with a basement, three porches and a huge yard for only $800/month. Those were the days, it was always a fucking wreck, we threw outrageous parties and house shows, got robbed all the time, but I didn't care, I loved it.”
But then, Jake entered into what he calls his “Three-Year Dark Period.” Unable to pay rent, he sold all of the musical equipment he had acquired throughout the years. Without any equipment, Jake quit playing music altogether. This lack of stability led Jake to start selling drugs and propelled him into a lifestyle which consisted of constantly partying, traveling on the road to sell drugs on music tours and festival circuits, rock climbing throughout the way at different spots and camping— “I became addicted to this Boss Gangster lifestyle, I would soon find out that it was all a lie though."
After losing thirty thousand dollars to foolish investments with shady people, having his life threatened every week for six months by a tattooed skinhead, and struggling to make it out of the hole he had fallen in, Jake had to make a move. McDonald experienced a life changing epiphany at a festival in Miami when he ate some LSD soaked popcorn — “I was thinking to myself, what the fuck am I doing with my life!? If I worked this hard at anything else, I could have whatever I want!” And that's exactly what he would do. He immediately went back to technical school to work on cars and began making music again. McDonald started producing beats with “Ployd” (Aireon Grimes, Atlanta based producer/DJ) and went on to gain the BMW scholarship from Atlanta Technical College and start working for BMW in 2014.
Around this time, he started a group called Leftovers with Nikolai Lvov (Just Neeks), Ender Isin, and Joshua Swaney. He was finally beginning to find his sound, or his “lane” as he calls it. He started to discover that he had a really incredible voice. “I always thought I had a shitty voice until Yonkers taught me that your voice is an instrument, you need to practice it, it's not a natural talent like being Michael Phelps”. He continued to work with Leftovers but began to working on his solo career at the end of 2016. After being fired from BMW at the beginning of 2017 for speeding in a customer’s car, McDonald began pursuing music full time. “I love working on cars, but the corporate world just wasn't for me. I was the black sheep at Atlanta’s most prestigious BMW dealership. Getting fired was just God’s way of showing me it was time to move on. I was starting to be molded into a person I knew in my heart I wasn’t. Moving up, gaining more certifications and higher pay, becoming a rat in the 9 to 5 life.... no fuckin’ way.” He started working as a bartender and began to save money and prepare to drop his first full length album.
CRUNKATLANTA MAGAZINE
CRUNKATLANTA MAGAZINE He completed his first full length album Ground Control to Astroknot at the beginning of 2018, collaborating with producers Tyku (Tyler Kumpee) Niles (Niles Roberts) Hiku (Tyler and Niles), MP808 (808 Mafia's Terrell McNeal), and rappers Curtis Williams, Goldyard (Austin Thomas & InDoe), Pancho the Great (Corion Dews) and Just Neeks (Nikolai Lvov).

M.U.D. Brothers June 2018 hits us hard with the release of Miami Dade rapper Archetype's 8-track release, All Scams or Fall. Crispy flames spread across the opening "Ten Toes," a slow-to-mid tempo, pumping 808 booms with space-funk piano chord lines, and crunchy smacking hats, snares and kicks - a Southern trap vibe enveloping the entire release. A meditative, hypnotic uniformity spans the release making it easy to zone into the flow. Already the 2nd, 3rd and 4th tracks, "Wat U Tryna Do," "Zone / Wats Goin On" and "2 Chainz," lock the listener into multiple pulsating layers of connective interplay between rappers, the M.U.D. Brothers—Archetype and GoGetta Zoe—with each voice and instrument carving out its own space, fluctuating to the front, middle and back, while the spacious percussive piano and drum give-and-take smooth out a landscape with bass consistently throbbing the heart, and wah-wah guitars and pad synths fluidly stroking the mid-range. "Chase" comes in with a change of effect, a dark documentation of tension and violence, under toned by a relentlessly repetitive semitone keyboard frenzy and an 808 poking around an octave. "Zone / Huh" showcases Archetype's Southern rap prowess, his stab-slur rhyming flow meshing with the kick and 808, with squaresaw synths waving around them, continuing the hypnotic drive of the album all the way to "Bandss," the voice clearing out in the middle talking the social environment around the music and its players, and the first shiny appearance of a flute glossing out the atmosphere of rattling percussive drums, piano and synths. What makes All Scams or Fall such a captivating release is the way it hypnotizes you into its pulsating stabbing yet smooth vibes, with its deep layering of multiple voices and instrumentation that always integrate successfully, and gives the frequent tension-and-release of everything that makes textbook Southern Trap the business.
Artist Bio: Archetype and GoGetta Zoe are the M.U.D. Brothers from Miami Dade, FL.
