EDITOR’S NOTES
Crunkatlanta Magazine 2017
Who is Crunkatlanta? I am Eric aka Crunkatlanta & Promotewho.com - The Internet Promoter, the one that is in love with Hip Hop. Follow me on Twitter @crunkatlantaMag . Born and raised in Detroit, MI. Yep, I'm from Seven Mile Rd and GreenfieldWhuddup Doe!! My first inspiration to get involved in the industry was when I found out that nobody heard of any Detroit rappers outside of Detroit ( Michigan). My first gig was with a friend (“T”) that I assisted with promoting Cam’ron back in 1997. From there I found what my purpose was supposed to be. My all time fantasy career was to become a quarterback for the Atlanta Falcons. Once that dream was cut short from not getting the response back from -tryouts and competition over the years. I became hooked on music and brand marketing. http://www.crunkatlanta.com ( Promo page )

B. PUREESE
CRUNKATLANTA 30 for 2020 How long have you been doing what you’re doing and how did you get started in the first place? Iv’e been performing since the age of 2 in dance, and singing since I could talk in the church. I began with dance classes, and I had a natural voice, so putting the two things I love the most together seemed very ideal as a child.
2. Who were the first influences on your music and style? Lauren Hill, Beyonce, J. Lo,
3. In your opinion who is the most influential and successful artist in your genre today and why? Beyoncé- she resonates with the times then and NOW. The culture, the delivery just grows consistently
4. Which famous song or sound production, ultimately describes what you’d like your music productions to sound like? Muisq Soulchild “Just friends”
5. Do you think your music is mostly enjoyed more for the beats or for the lyrical flow and content? I believe its for a combination of both. I like to tell stories, that come from a genuine place, however I have amazing producers working with me that are extremely capturing to the ears
6. Do you make your own beats and write your own lyrics? If yes what software or equipment do you prefer using? If you don’t do any of this by yourself, how do you get this done? I Co- Produce with a female producer by the name of Avery Lumel. She brings my thoughts to life. I do write my own music, however there are a few songs that I have collaborated with on writing that are amazing in my city of Shreveport, (Louisiana)
7. If you could choose to work with some of today’s established artists or producers, to move your game to the top, with whom would you like to collaborate? J. Cole, Chris Brown, choices- DJ Khalid would be someone I would love the versatility

OneUnited Bank – the nation's largest Black-owned and FDIC insured bank – is leading the movement to BankBlack® and Buy Black, to garner our spending power and channel it back into our community to create jobs, build businesses and increase wealth.
8. Which latest songs, videos or mixtapes releases are currently available to your fans and where can they be heard or downloaded? I have 3 singles out right now Merry Go, I Can’t, and On Me (BB) all an be found on all music platforms iTunes, Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube and etc 9. Which ingredient do you think is most essential in making your sound and style the way it is? My delivery. My music sounds different, because of the expression, I put in my delivery, depending on the story, I’m telling. 10. What led to your style of delivery and beat-selection?? My background and personality. Growing up I was centered around expressive music, either in the church or through jazz/blues. 11. What aspect of the music making process excites you most, and what aspect discourages you the most? What excites me the most is my song writing process. What discourages me the most, is the pressure I put on myself, when recording my emotions 12. How involved are you in the recording, producing, mastering, marketing, and other processes needed to make and sell your music, and do you outsource any part of these processes? I am involved in every aspect of my music. I do all my own marketing and I have a great support system that guides me hands on through every step of the producing, recording, and mastering so i can have the knowledge for myself. 13. Do you think the advent of the internet and all the new technology has helped your music and independent musicians in general, or do you think it just creates a mass of mediocre “copycats” who flood the web, making it difficult to distinguish yourself? There is a combination of both. New technology has defiantly helped me as an artist. 14. In your experience thus far, what is the best piece of advice in this business you actually followed? And one you didn’t follow, but now know for sure that you should have? The best advice that i followed, would be to stay consistent. 15. Being an independent artist, which is the one factor, above all else, that you currently desire most (increased music distribution, better quality production, more media exposure, more club and live performances etc…)? I am a performer, so more club and live performances is what I desire most. 16. Where do you distribute and promote your music (Amazon, iTunes, CD Baby, Your own Website, YouTube etc…) and why do you think this channel works best for you? I currently use all platforms, because I want everybody to have access to my music no matter the preference of platform.
17. How important do you think video is to your music, and how do you produce your videos? Videos are very important for my music. I am a trained singer, dancer, and performer. This is where I get to fully express all my forms of creativity at once. All of my videos I either direct or co-direct. Once I completely write a song, instantly I have a video in mind. I make sure I have great videographers on call. 18. Is going Platinum or winning a Grammy important to you, and If you were forced to make only one choice, which of the two would you choose and why? I love to make good music. Winning a Grammy or going Platinum would be a great achievement honoring my hard work. If I had to choose out of the two it would be a Grammy for the honor. 19. What in your opinion is the biggest barrier an artist like yourself, has to face and overcome, to gain any commercial success? The fear of getting rejected 20. In closing, tell us something about any projects and ideas you have in store or are already working on? I am currently working on my EP filled with many different emotions. 21. What got you into music? Growing up in a very musical family 22. What's the most important item in your music collection? A song that I did a voice memo on expressing great emotions. 23. How would you describe yourself as an artist? Very creatively eclectic. Characteristics of all music genres. 24. How do you think you differ from other artists? My versatility with singing and dancing. 25. What’s the last track you listened to? Bust It by Erica Banks 26. R&b of today , how would you say it’s different from the 90’s ? 90s made you want to be romantic and harmonious. R&B of today is very straight to the point nasty. 27. What’s your guilty pleasure? Eating ice 28. Who are your favorite artists overall in any genre ? Christina Aguilera, Beyoncé, R. Kelly, Carrie Underwood, Madonna, J. Cole, Eryka Badu, and India Arie. 29. What drives you to complete your craft ?
CRUNKATLANTA 30 for 2020 30. Flashing money, the women and the cars in videos - Do you think many just don't have creative ideas or is this what they believe fans want to see? I believe it is a little mix of both, more so leaning toward thats what they believe fans want to see. Any Final Shout-Outs? Shout to my hometown Shreveport, LA, Avery Lumel, my Black Ice Dance Company, my mom and dad, and God also my business partner/manager Timo James he believes in me as an artist and really sets the standard Dick James/LaTrese Management, LLC Record Union A&R/Ambassador -Staff Writer @One West Magazine Los Angeles, California -WorldStar Hip Hop’s #1. ROD WAVE
In moments of extreme trauma, sometimes the only way to get closure is to revisit that cause of that pain with a new attitude of understanding. For Rod Wave (Alamo/Geffen Records), that intense emotional release comes in his new song and video for “Through The Wire,” following his car accident earlier this summer. The TNT-produced track addresses the root of the problem for Rod: allowing his internal pain to turn into anger, which feeds into his selfdestruction. He’s eternally grateful that he’s still alive and well to take care of his daughters, despite having suffered from internal brain bleeding and other facial injuries in a high-intensity crash. The Jolo-directed video features his totaled Corvette Stingray that he was fortunate enough to walk away from. Watch the video HERE.

R&B superstar Summer Walker (LVRN/Interscope Records) continues her impressive winning streak after the release of her emo-leaning EP, Life on Earth. Debuting at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 and No. 1 on the Top R&B Albums chart, the five-track serving proves to be a healthy entree for listeners enamored by Walker's candor and dulcet vocals. Featuring NO1-NOAH ("SWV" & "White Tee") and PARTYNEXTDOOR ("My Affection"), Walker brilliantly collides with both artists, while maintaining her entrancing mystique as R&B's prized gem. Walker's streaming excellence continues to be her calling card, as Life on Earth netted an astounding 32 million streams its opening week. Even the pandemic can't thwart Walker's momentum, as her legion of supporters came in droves from various cities for her recent activations. In collaboration with Amazon Music, Walker's Life on Earth UFO Listening Experience allowed fans in Atlanta to receive a first glimpse of the project inside of their cars. With Walker's pink UFO on-site, her devotees soaked in the galactic experience at various showings throughout the evening. On release day, Walker treated her Atlanta fans once again with her spacey Battle on Earth Laser Tag experience at the Westside Cultural Arts Center. The singer's altruism continued when she whipped up her Life on Earth Ice Cream Shuttle experience for her fans in New York City. With social distancing encouraged, fans safely ventured to several locations in NYC to meet the space shuttle for free ice cream and space candy from the LVRN songstress. For the cherry on top, Walker chatted with Apple Music’s R&B Now Radio to discuss her new EP, her creative process and more.
