Gary Gordon was born and raised in the North Central Neighborhood of Troy, New York. Gordon spent a great deal of his childhood at the Troy Boy’s and Girl’s Club and was elected into their Hall of Fame in 2003. After attending St. Patrick’s School, Gordon transferred to the Troy Public School System where he graduated in 1977 from Troy High School. Following graduation, Gordon attended Hudson Valley Community College until 1979 and, during this time, worked in the Public Safety Department at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute where he trained and became certified as an emergency medical technician. Gordon began his career with the Troy Police Department and graduated from the Municipal Police Training Council (Police Academy) in 1985. He began his career as an evidence technician in the patrol division.

Throughout his career, Gordon worked in various divisions in the police department including traffic safety, street crimes unit (narcotics); he also was the first Troy Police Officer assigned to the Community Police Unit. Notably, in 1998, Gordon was promoted to Sergeant and received the Silver Shield Award for bravery. Upon being assigned to the Detective Bureau in 2001, Gordon investigated crimes as a Detective Sergeant and was assigned to the Major Crimes Unit shortly thereafter. Gordon remained in that unit until his retirement in 2006.

During his tenure in the Troy Police Department, Gordon received 31 prestigious commendations, but also trained in numerous areas of law enforcement. Gordon is a certified Police Instructor and has, among other places taught at the Zone 5 Police Academy. In 2003, Gordon was an associate of the New York State Police Colonel Williams Homicide Seminar - A very prestigious seminar attended by Investigators throughout the world and presented by the top forensics personnel in the Country.

In 2006, Gordon was appointed as a Confidential Investigator for the Rensselaer County District Attorney’s Office where he continues to conduct high profile criminal investigations and assures that each individual case is trial ready.

Gary Gordon lives in Brunswick, New York and is married to the former Linda Badolato.

Together they have two children- Michael and Nicole- and two grandchildren: Britney and Mackenzie.

MEET SCHODACK’S GOOD GOVERNMENT TEAM

MEET THE TEAM FOR PROGRESS IN EAST GREENBUSH Incumbent Democrats are running for reelection as a team in East Greenbush. Supervisor Rick McCabe, with Councilmembers Phil Malone and Sue Mangold seek the opportunity to build on what has been accomplished, and complete improvement projects that are now under development.

Toni Murphy, Receiver of Taxes has brought steady improvement to that office during her tenure, and is known for her helpful, friendly manner.

Since Sue Mangold, and Phil Malone were elected to join Supervisor McCabe’s administration much has been accomplished by the Democratic Majority on the Board.

Significant Economic Development projects have returned to active status, with Fedex building a regional hub, NYISO’s high tech addition, and Regeneron’s expanding laboratories.

Efficiency and service in Town operations has improved, with increased input from residents. Public Works and infrastructure projects have been upgraded and moved forward, many supported by large outside funding grants. Independent Audits are scheduled annually. A Fiscal Advisory Committee now makes monthly reviews, a broad-based Citizen Committee is developing an Ethics Policy Statement, and the combined Youth/Parks Task Force has revitalized recreation programs and facilities.

All of this and more have been taking place during one of the worst economic downturns the Nation has faced in decades.

Through her years of responsible and responsive service, Toni Murphy has kept her focus on resident’s needs. She computerized the office implementing alternate payment options, most recently electronic transfers or “eChecks’. Toni is Vice President of the NYS Association of Tax Receivers and Collectors.

Beautiful neighborhoods, sensible growth, economic opportunity, stable taxes and increasing services make East Greenbush a great place to live, that this team is proud to call home. The Democratic team is made up with people who grew up in East Greenbush raised their families here, with a third generation now growing.

MEET RICH MCNALLY CANDIDATE FOR RE-ELECTION RENSSELAER COUNTY DISTRICT ATTORNEY When I decided to seek the position of District Attorney for Rensselaer County a little over four years ago, my wife and I thought long and hard about why we were committing the time and energy to the task. Our two daughters were 10 and 7. There would be a lot of time away from family.

The magnitude of the impact of the office of the District Attorney however cannot be understated.

The job is not about box scores and bluster. The job is a lawyer’s job. Follow the rule of law, seek justice for those whose lives have been disrupted by those who prey upon our children, parents, and loved ones and do justice to the worst of the worst.

The office I lead as your District Attorney has won convictions in some of the most complex criminal cases I have seen in practicing criminal law in the Capital District for over twenty years: Infant Homicides; Serial Sex Offenders; Domestic Violence Homicides and Random Gang Assaults .

I was personally about to begin selecting jurors in an eight year old double homicide case where two men were accused of brutally murdering two people in Troy in 2002, when DNA matched a new suspect. There were countless hours and volumes of work put into that case. We did not rush in. I made the call to dismiss the charges against the wrongfully accused. I directed the investigation that eventually convicted Michael Mosley of the killings that had haunted the parents of two murdered children and this community for nearly a decade. Mosley is serving life in prison without the possibility of parole.

In the meantime I’ve led a team of dedicated attorneys and investigators that have made the criminal justice system in this county work the way it is supposed to. I take pride in our work and our record is proof of our professionalism and effectiveness. I ask for your support and look forward to serving as your District Attorney for the next four years.

Meet Dennis Dowds, Supervisor – Dennis has put his decades of private sector and business experience to use making town government more efficient. A veteran of the Vietnam War, Dennis has also served as a professor at Hudson Valley Community College.

Meet Frank Curtis, Councilman – Frank has supported efforts to control spending and expand the town’s taxbase. Frank has also helped keep the town safe as a longtime member of the East Schodack Fire Co. Meet Mike Kenney, Councilman – Mike has been involved in volunteer efforts to improve our community, including construction of a new playground at Green Meadow Elementary. Mike has worked to make Schodack stronger by holding the line on taxes and supporting economic development efforts.

Meet Donna Conlin, Town Clerk – Donna has been the friendly and effective Town Clerk Schodack residents have come to count on. Donna’s expertise has helped the town land funding grants and improved licensing and records-keeping efforts.

Meet Kathy Lubbers, Receiver of Taxes – Kathy has been the fair and effective Receiver of Taxes Schodack has come to count on. With years of valuable banking and private business management experience, Kathy is also active in community service organizations.

Meet Paul Peter, Town Justice – Judge Peter has earned a reputation for fairness and efficiency, resolving thousands of cases in one of the county’s busiest courts. Along with serving as Town Justice, Paul is also owner of Peter’s Dairy Farm.

MEET JACK MAHAR, RENSSELAER COUNTY SHERIFF AND CANDIDATE FOR RE-ELECTION Sheriff Jack Mahar is currently serving his seventh year as Rensselaer County Sheriff. After serving 4 years in the United States Marine Corps, Sheriff Mahar served the Troy Police Department for nearly 28 years where he achieved the rank of Captain and commanded all units within the Department. He is a graduate of SUNY, Empire State College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration, and a graduate of the FBI National Academy and the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association.

Early in his career, Sheriff Mahar was selected by the FBI to serve an Executive Fellowship at FBI Headquarters, Safe Streets Unit.

Sheriff Mahar has received numerous commendations and awards including the Champion for Children Award from the anti-crime group, “Fight Crime: Invest in Kids” and the Project Child Safe and Project Safe Neighborhoods award in recognition of his work on behalf of young people.

In 2011, Sheriff Mahar was elected President of the New York State Sheriffs’ Association. In this role, he serves as the top liaison between local sheriffs and the State Legislature on issues such as counter-terrorism, drug crimes, jails, EMS and 9-1-1 to name a few.

A member of the Lansingburgh Veterans, the United States Marine Corps League and the Rensselaer County Veterans’ Coalition, the Sheriff’s efforts on behalf of local veterans have been recognized by the Veterans of Stephentown and the United States Air Force.

Sheriff Mahar is a member of TRIAD, a partnership between area senior citizens, law enforcement agencies and community groups that work together to reduce the criminal victimization of senior citizens.

Sheriff Mahar has also been honored by the Rensselaer County Legislature for creating a program which has certified all thirty-one of his Sheriff’s Deputies as Emergency Medical Technicians, making the Rensselaer County Sheriff’s Office the only law enforcement agency in the State where all deputies are certified EMT’s.

A native of Troy, New York, Sheriff Mahar currently resides in Pittstown with his wife, Selina, and has three children and one grandchild. He enjoys riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle as well as aviation and possesses his private pilot’s license.

MEET THE HOMETOWN LEADERSHIP TEAM FOR EAST GREENBUSH Keith Langley, Dan Fiacco, Ed Gilbert & Corine Sheldon Meet Keith Langley for Supervisor Keith is a lifelong East Greenbush resident who will use his decades of private sector business experience to stabilize taxes, reduce the town’s record-high debt and make town government more responsive and efficient. Keith has earned valuable business experience as project superintendent and safety coordinator with Rifenburg Contracting Corporation, helping successfully complete some of the area’s biggest construction projects. Keith gained new perspective after a 1990 accident left his wife Lois paralyzed. Keith devoted himself to caring for his wife, and since the accident, the couple have become parents to a son and a daughter. The Langley’s story has inspired many and been featured in national magazines.

Meet Dan Fiacco for Town Council Dan will work to protect taxpayers and expand the town base to provide new opportunity and relief to taxpayers. The owner of a successful building and contracting company, Dan has helped build or improve many of the homes and businesses throughout East Greenbush. Dan and wife Jana are the parents of two daughters who being educated in the East Greenbush school system and part of a large family with members throughout town.

Meet Ed Gilbert for Town Council Ed will focus on protecting taxpayers, controlling spending and involvingn residents and their ideas in town government. A manager with the New York State Higher Education Services Corporation, Ed has worked for years to help ensure student loans are available to those looking for a better life. Ed and his wife Alice (Sally) are parents of two college-age daughters and Ed frequently attends town meetings.

Meet Corine Sheldon for Receiver of Taxes Corine has years of experience managing finances and accounts, skills that have prepared her to be our next Receiver of Taxes. Corine served as accounts treasurer and handles accounts for her family trucking company.

A resident of our town for 22 years, Corine and her husband Kip are parents of three children, and are active in the community and scholastic sports organizations.

Corine will expand office hours and make it easier and more convenient for residents to handle payments and other matters at her office.

Meet Ray Seney– Town Council: I am seeking re-election to the Nassau Town Council. For the past six years, I have kept a close eye on town spending and services. As Town Supervisor, from 2006 to 2008, I created the Natural Resources Committee, developed legislation to protect our quality of life, established Nassau’s website, and eliminated deficits. As Councilman, I secured $70,000 in funding for Burden Lake Sewer engineering and worked diligently on the new comprehensive plan and zoning legislation. I will continue my efforts to keep taxes reasonable while working hard to protect our environment, health, and welfare.

Meet Guy Forte– Town Council: I have been active in Nassau Village for more than ten years. I serve on the Beautification Committee where I have helped plan and put on many community events. I also serve on the Nassau Village Planning Board. I helped to reestablish the Nassau Sunshine Fund, a no-interest loan program that helps Nassau residents deal with financial emergencies. I am running because I believe that all Nassau communities should be represented on the Council and that I have the judgment necessary to do the job.

Meet Donna Ortgies– Town Clerk: I believe in serving the community. I worked as the Assistant Director and then Director of the Nassau Summer Youth Camp, and I serve on Nassau’s Youth Committee. At my church, I volunteer as a deacon and Sunday School teacher. With a background as an office manager and office assistant, I have the people and office skills to become the new Town Clerk. I look forward to serving the townspeople for many years to come.

Meet Marcelle Gadreault– Collector of Taxes: Since my husband, Kevin, and I bought our home here in 2000, I have really grown to appreciate Nassau’s small town community feel. I am active in the Sutherland School PTO; I serve on the Council Board of the Kid’s Place Preschool and, I’m on the Executive Committee of the Cub Scout Pack 166. I am dedicated, hardworking and have strong organizational skills. I believe I would be a perfect fit for Collector of Taxes. I look forward to the opportunity to serve the residents of Nassau.
