News Release: HUDSON RIVER COMMUNITY CREDIT UNION RECEIVES APPROVAL TO BUILD NEW OPERATIONS CENTER

Corinth, New York (June 8, 2011) – The Village Board of Corinth voted to change the zoning of the property originally home to International Paper Company from industrial to business therefore paving the way for the building of Hudson River Community Credit Union’s (HRCCU) new Operations Center.

“We are very happy that as a result of the zoning change, Hudson River Community Credit Union can build its Operations Center on a 10 acre portion of the International Paper Mill property,” stated Brad Winslow, Mayor of Corinth. “In the future, as the credit union grows, the Center will bring new jobs to Corinth which will be very beneficial to the residents, as well as the business community. We are hopeful that the addition of HRCCU’s new Operations Center to the existing International Paper Company site, will serve as a catalyst for further development of the existing property.”

Hudson River Community Credit Union purchased 10 acres of property from International Paper Company where it will build its new, $2.3 million, two-story, 16,000 square foot Operations Center on the site, which will house most of the credit union’s operational staff. Construction will begin in August of 2011 with completion of the building slated for the fall of 2012.

“On behalf of the HRCCU Board of Directors, I would like to thank the Village Board members for their prompt approval of the zoning change which is an important step to bringing our new operations center to Corinth. The HRCCU’s roots run deep in Corinth and our Board feels strongly that our operations center should be located in the area where we got our start,” said HRCCU Board President, Stuart Field.

Actress/director/teacher Filomena Riviello will present a daylong workshop on the subject "Effective Public Reading: How to read your work so people think you are the best writer since Dickens." Riviello has worked in New York City as a professional actress and director for over 20 years, has directed shows at SUNY Adirondack and for Our Town Theatre Group, and is a popular workshop leader for the Warrensburgh Historical Society's Graveyard Walks.

LUZERNE MUSIC CENTER ANNOUNCES 2011 INDEPENDENCE DAY WEEKEND CANADIAN BRASS CONCERT AND BBQ Luzerne Music Center will present its season opener -- a concert by Canadian Brass and an Independence Day Weekend Barbecue -- on Sunday, July 3rd, beginning at 4:00 pm.

Five brass musicians, each a virtuoso in his own right, form the legendary Canadian Brass, which has been in existence over 40 years. With an international reputation as one of the most popular brass ensembles today, Canadian Brass has truly earned the distinction of “the worldʼs most famous brass group.”

According to the Washington Post, “These are the men who put brass music on the map: with their unbeatable blend of virtuosity, spontaneity and humor, they brighten the rosters of concert halls, international festivals and orchestra series throughout the world. Their numerous recordings, frequent television appearances and tireless efforts in the realm of music education have resulted in vast new audiences for the Art of the Canadian Brass.”

The varied Canadian Brass repertoire features brass standards as well as a wide-ranging library of original arrangements created especially for them. These include the works of Renaissance and Baroque masters, Classical works, marches, holiday favorites, ragtime, Dixieland, Latin, jazz, big band, Broadway and Christian music as well as popular songs and standards. Having started with a very limited base, Canadian Brass has created their own musical world by transcribing, arranging and commissioning more than 200 works, including critically acclaimed compositions from Michael Kamen, Luther Henderson, Bramwell Tovey, Don Gillis and more. They have transformed a previously neglected group of instruments with a limited repertoire into a versatile and vital ensemble that can play everything from Gabrieli to Gershwin!

This outdoor event will take place on the Centerʼs campus, at 203 Lake Tour Road in Lake Luzerne, NY. Preferred and lawn seating will be available, with preferred seating priced at $25 per adult and $10 per student (including those with college IDʼs), and lawn seating at $10 per adult and $5 per student for those providing their own lawn chairs and blankets. The barbeque will be an additional $10 per person. All full- and half-series subscribers will receive preferred seating at the concert and barbecue. (Lodge and tent seating will be provided in case of rain.)

SARATOGA ARTS SEEKS FINE ARTISTS FOR ITS SUMMER OUTDOOR ART EXHIBITIONS Saratoga Arts is seeking artists for its two summer outdoor art exhibitions.

On Saturday, July 9, the first of Saratoga Arts summer Art in the Park exhibition and sale will occur in Saratoga Springsʼ historic Congress Park from 10am to 5pm. The second Art in the Park exhibition will be on Tuesday, August 23 (Travers Festival week) from 10am to 6pm. Both Art in the Park exhibits feature original fine art work. Artists need to register for Art in the Park by Friday, June 24 deadline.

Space is limited for each exhibition, and advanced registration is required.

“Connected vehicles will alert drivers if another vehicle is about to run the red light, when a car in their blind spot drifts too close for comfort, if thereʼs a crash ahead or even if the next bridge is getting icy,” explained Scott Belcher, president and CEO of the Intelligent Transportation Society of America, who noted that vehicles can also be equipped with pre-emptive braking systems to help drivers slow down.

In addition, connected vehicles can provide real-time information and navigation to avoid traffic, find better routes, check - transit schedules, locate and reserve a parking space and pay tolls.

To find more good ideas, the Research and Innovative Technology Administration launched the Connected Vehicle Technology Challenge, a national competition seeking ideas for ways to use connectivity between vehicles to make transportation safer, greener and easier.
