On January 4, 2011, Robert W. Jones of Lake Luzerne, son of Marika and the late Robert A. Jones, was promoted to the rank of Colonel in the United States Marine Corps. The promotion ceremony was held at the Hall of Heroes in the Pentagon and was officiated by Lieutenant General John M. Paxton, Deputy Director for Operations for the Joint Staff. Colonel Jonesʟ sons, Nate and Sam, pinned his colonelʟs insignia on his collar, and his mother, Marika, pinned the insignia on his cover. Colonel Jones and his family haved moved to South Carolina, where in June he assumed command of the Recruit Training Regiment, Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island.
