The 36th Annual Riverview Arts and Crafts Festival in Lake Luzerne will be held on Saturday, July 16th from 9-4pm. There are over 40 unique crafters & a HUGE book sale! Admission is free. The Festival is held in Pavilion Park, across from the High School, Route 9N, Lake Luzerne. The Hadley Luzerne Public Library (696-3423) sponsors the event. On Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at 7pm, Northern NY Call2Men in partnership with Catholic Charities of Warren and Washington counties will be hosting an event titled “New Media Approaches to Ending Violence against Women: What Role Do Men Play?� This community discussion will take place in the Community Room of the Crandall Public Library in Glens Falls, NY. During the evening there will be an interactive program where participants will view ad campaigns and evaluate the role of new media in raising awareness of violence against women. The evening will provide “average guys� with a picture of what we can do in our day-to-day lives to help change the community norms. The event will end at 8:30pm. This community building event is free of charge and is open to the public. Refreshments will be served, at no cost to participants. Irene Sherlock to Present Writing Workshop, Reading Ms. Irene Sherlock will present a creative writing workshop at Willows Bistro on July 21, beginning at 5 p.m., to include a brief lecture, some writing and discussion, and dinner. Following the meal Sherlock will present a short reading from her new chapbook, Equinox, published by Finishing Line Press. “In Equinox,â€? a reviewer has noted, “Irene Sherlock reveals the equal measure of light and dark, joy and sorrow in our human relationships‌.she shows us, as readers, how to Ęťbalance the push-pull/ of our wobbly world.Ęźâ€? Sherlock will then conduct an open mic session for others wishing to present works of no more than five minutes each. The workshop is open to up to twenty writers of all experience levels.
