Dunn was backed by Republicans in 2015 and 2019, winning in both three-way races. If Dunn wins the primary, he will run solely on the Conservative line in November. Currently, there are 239 registered Conservatives in Malta out of 12,779 voters.
Dunn, who founded the marketing and communications firm Dunn Strategies Group, is undaunted, saying he will continue to work to keep Malta affordable and safe, help businesses succeed and work to strengthen the community with better code enforcement, programs for those in need as well as building parks, trails and open space.

Dunn said the only reason he didn’t get the Conservative Party support is because he seeks “to serve the interests of the community, not of political party bosses.”

Ted Willette, the town GOP chair, said Dunn also sought an endorsement from the Republican committee. He said Dunn made the move just hours before the committee was to vote on its choice of candidates.
“Tim Dunn is not a Republican,” Willette said. “I don’t think him trying to get the endorsement was completely truthful. ... The committee took a no confidence vote in Tim Dunn.”
Like the Conservative Party, Willette’s committee ultimately endorsed Warner and
