Bicycle Recycle Day at EMS SARATOGA SPRINGS – Looking to clean out your garage or storage space, while providing essential transportation to needy members of our local community? On Saturday April 6, from 10am-4pm, representatives from Bikeatoga will be at the Eastern Mountain Sports (EMS) store at 3066 Route 50 in Wilton to collect used bicycles. Bicycles collected will be distributed to needy people in the Saratoga Springs region by Bikeatoga. Bikeatoga (formerly Saratoga Healthy Transportation Network) is a local bicycle advocacy organization dedicated to pushing for a better future by making functional cycling more convenient, accessible, and safe in and around Saratoga Springs, NY. Bikeatoga’s volunteer members work to emphasize the environmental, economic, and health-related benefits of everyday cycling, as well as the pleasure of it. The group runs the Bikeatoga Workshop out of the basement of the Church of St. Peter at 241 Broadway, Saratoga Springs. The Workshop is generally open on Thursdays from 6-8pm, and Saturdays from 9am-12pm. For more about the bike workshop visit www.bikeatoga. org, or www.facebook.com/bikeatoga. A children’s bike giveaway is planned for the spring, and adults can “earn a bike” by volunteering at the workshop. Adult Female Mentors Needed SARATOGA REGION – Recently Retired And Looking for Meaningful Volunteer Work? I Am I Can, a mentoring program for girls in grades 9-12, is seeking adult female mentors to work with new students to the program. As a mentor you would spend time with and get to know your student on a one-to-one basis, while developing a relationship that provides support and guidance. If you are recently retired woman looking for some meaningful volunteer work, this may be for you. The organization is currently looking for mentors in the Clifton Park to Glens Falls areas. Immediate needs are to support girls in Hudson Falls, South Glens Fall, Glens Falls and Ballston Spa school districts.
