CLIFTON PARK – Pai’s Academy of Tae Kwon Do presents “A Day of Fundraising for Japan” on Saturday, April 16, at the Gowana Middle School gym, 970 Route 146 in Clifton Park. Doors will open at 3pm. From 3:304pm: Zakuro-Daiko – The Union College Japanese Drumming Ensemble; from 4-5pm: Pai’s Tae Kwon Do Demonstration team. Tickets: $5 per person; under age 3, free. All money collected will be donated directly to the Red Cross relief fund for earthquake and tsunami victims in Japan. Call 3718285 for more information.

Easter Party CLIFTON PARK – The Jonesville Fire Dept. Ladies Auxiliary will hold their annual Easter Party on Sunday, April 17, 12:30-2pm, at Station #1, 953 Main Street in Clifton Park. The Easter Bunny will make a special visit, so don’t forget your cameras! Light refreshments will be served and fun activities will be held inside the training room. Celebrating National Library Week WATERFORD – The Waterford Public Library will mark National Library Week 2011 (April 10-16) by inviting library customers to show their support of libraries by having a picture taken of themselves with their favorite book. The pictures will then be turned into a oversized poster that will hang in the library. Individuals or families can both participate. So pick a favorite book and visit us during National Library Week to be part of our big picture!

WATERFORD – The Friends of the Waterford Public Library will hold a meeting of the Board of Directors on Thursday, April 14, 6:45pm, at the Community Room at Van Schoonhoven Square, Waterford. Members of the community interested in joining the Friends are invited to attend. The Friends of the Waterford Public Library work with the Library Director and Library Trustees to support and advance the services and goals of the Library.

Canal Clean Sweep COHOES – The Spindle City Historic Society, in conjunction with Parks and Trails NY and the NYS Canal Corporation, is sponsoring a canal clean-up on April 16 from 10Am-noon. Individuals interested in participating should meet near the intersection of Summit and Vliet Streets. Work will be on the towpath leading to Lock 15, in the park area near Lock 16 and at Power Canal Park. Garbage bags will be provided, however, please bring your own gloves.
