Bulletin Board Adirondack Sports & Fitness Summer Expo SARATOGA SPRINGS – Everything you need for summer sports! It’s the eighth annual Adirondack Sports & Fitness Summer Expo at the Saratoga Springs City Center. Hours are Saturday, March 9 from 10am-5pm and Sunday, March 10 from 10am-4pm. Admission is free! Come to the Capital Region’s only running, cycling, triathlon, paddling, hiking, healthy living and travel show featuring 120 exhibitors, sales on gear/ clothing, paddling demos, seminars and fun family activities. On-water demos will take place all weekend in the 20-by-30 foot pool, featuring kayaking, canoeing, whitewater paddling, and the fast-growing sport of SUP and SUP yoga (stand up paddling). The clinics, led by Adirondack Mountain Club members, include capsize recovery, rescue and rolling, a kids’ “Try Paddling” session and whitewater paddling. A variety of seminars will be led by Adirondack Sports & Fitness magazine contributing writers and regional experts. The Regional Food Bank will be on hand to collect food and monetary donations over the weekend. Attendees with donations increase their chances of winning prizes. Line and Partner Dance WILTON – The Wilton Fire Department will be hosting a Line and Partner Dance at their Fire Station on Sat., March 9 from 7-11:30pm. The Wilton Fire Dept. is located at 270 Ballard Road in Wilton. DJ (dance instructor) is Tony Marcantonio. Refreshments will also be available. Donation at the door is $5. (P)

Program of Book Reviews BURNT HILLS – The United Methodist Women, of the Burnt Hills United Methodist Church, 816 Saratoga Road, Rt. 50, Burnt Hills, will host a program of Book Reviews on Wednesday, March 13, beginning at 1pm in Knight Hall. There will be a panel of five speakers; Marlene Maynard, Joan Hallgren, Jane Coffey, Dorothy Conklin and Janet Waite. They will report on the following books: Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet, Still Alice, Princess, The Red Tent and Hannah’s List. The public is invited to attend. Refreshments will be served. “Education Then and Now” BURNT HILLS – The Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake Women’s Club will meet Monday, March 11 at noon at Knight Hall in the Burnt Hills Methodist Church. Moonlight Ski and Snowshoe Postponed GANSEVOORT – The February 23rd Moonlight Ski and Snowshoe event at Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park is being postponed until Saturday, March 23rd due to the lack of sufficient snowfall. “We just didn’t get enough snow with Nemo and with the warm weather, there are just too many bare and icy spots to run a night-time trail event safely,” said Margo Olson, Executive Director. “We are hoping that we have a nice snowy March so we can finally hold this wonderful, magical event.” This year’s event is sponsored by the Wilton Rotary and by the Healthy Living Market and Café that will soon be opening at the Wilton Mall. QUEENSBURY – Memories on Wheels Car Club, a 510 (c)(3) is holding a Sock Hop on March 23 at the West Glens Falls Fire House on Luzerne Rd in Queensbury from 7-11pm for $15 per person with a cash bar, 50/50 raffle, door prizes, and a silent auction to benefit local charities. The DJ plays classic rock as well as plenty of 50’s and 60’s music - so come prepared to dance! SARATOGA – The Saratoga-Wilton Elks Ladies Auxiliary will hold their annual Victorian Tea with entertainment and talk by “The Victorian Lady”, Sue McLean, on Sunday, March 10, from 1-4pm. The Tea will be held at the Lodge, 1 Elks Lane in Saratoga. A $10 donation at the door includes a free gift to the first 100 guests, finger foods, soup, desserts and a chance at the many raffles and door prizes. Special raffle prizes include theme baskets and two Victorian Cradles made by Ken Woodcock. Ladies of all ages, don your favorite chapeau to sip tea and savor friendships. All money raised from this Tea will benefit the Community Service Scholarship Fund, which awards scholarships each school year to local high school seniors. Saratoga Rotary’s Home and Lifestyle Show SARATOGA SPRINGS – The Saratoga Home & Lifestyle Show, an annual event by Saratoga Springs Rotary Club, will take place March 1 thru March 3, at the Saratoga Springs City Center. The show will feature approximately 120 exhibitors offering a wide range of home improvement, outdoor living, family recreation, and lifestyle products and services, as well as many prizes, including a 50-inch flat-screen TV. Show proceeds are donated by Rotary to community nonprofit groups and youth scholarships. Show hours are: Friday, March 1 from 5-9pm; Saturday, March 2 from 9am-7pm; and Sunday, March 3 from 10am-4pm. Admission: $6 for adults, $1 for kids 5-12, under 5 free. Spring Awakening at Art in Chestertown Gallery CHESTERTOWN – North Country Art Center’s newest exhibit, Spring Awakening will be opening on March 15 with its opening reception from 6-8pm. The exhibit will last until the closing reception on April 27 from 2-4pm. The exhibit will be open on Saturdays and Sundays from 11am-5pm. Admission is “Pay What You Can” with all proceeds benefiting the Scotia-Glenville Pipe Band programs. Last August, the Pipe Band placed first in their division at the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow, Scotland. Founded in 1989 as an enhancement to the ScotiaGlenville School District’s Scottish heritage, the Scotia-Glenville Pipe Band has evolved and become a private non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization. The band’s mission is to teach and develop youth pipers and drummers to achieve excellence in competition and performance through the pipe band idiom. Promoting the values of dedication, hard work, and commitment to a musical team are priorities with the goal of becoming a first-rate competitive band. BSBPA to Celebrate 30th Anniversary at Annual Meeting BALLSTON SPA – The Ballston Spa Business & Professional Association will hold its Annual Meeting and Community Mixer on Monday, March 18, from 6-8pm at the Ballston Spa Elks Lodge, 10 Hamilton Street. The Association will be celebrating its 30th year of service to the Ballston Spa community. The BSBPA was formed in 1983 to promote the village of Ballston Spa, its businesses and merchants, and to foster community pride through events, activities and village beautification. The Annual Meeting and Mixer will begin with a social hour and buffet at 6pm, followed by the official meeting at 7pm. Officer elections will be held, along with a wrap up of BSBPA achievements over the past 30 years and a look toward the future. This event is open to the public; the cost is $20 per person. LARAC’s “120°” Exhibit GLENS FALLS – 120° is an Intercollegiate Art Competition. This innovative exhibit represents artwork by students attending a College or University situated within 120 miles of Lapham Gallery in Glens Falls. Guest Juror for the competition was James Kettlewell. Friday, March 1 is ‘Preview Night’ at Lapham Gallery, with a reception that evening from 5-7pm. Chili Chow Down Challenge 2013 GREENWICH – The Greater Greenwich Chamber of Commerce invites you to the 2nd annual Chili Chow Down Challenge to benefit the Greenwich Food Pantry. Local restaurants and caterers will volunteer their time and ingredients to offer the public a tasting of their delicious chilies. The public can taste each competitor’s chili for $1 per tasting cup and you can buy as many cups as you would like. There is no entrance fee. The event will be held on Wednesday, March 27 from 5:30-7:30pm at the Greenwich Elks Lodge near the corner of NYS Route 40 and Bulson Road in Greenwich. The Elks are generously donating the use of their facility and will be selling beverages. Christ the King Spiritual Life Center in Easton is generously donating the serving cups & paper goods to the event. A 50/50 raffle will also be held.
