SARATOGA SPRINGS – The next meeting of the Saratoga Turf Talkers Toastmasters Club will be held Tuesday, July 19, 12:30-1:30pm, at Longfellow’s Inn, 500 Union Ave. The club meets the first and third Tuesday of every month. Saratoga Turf Talkers is comprised of a group of individuals from all walks of life that get together twice a month to practice public speaking. Our goal is to learn how to become better leaders and communicators, while at the same time having fun together in a relaxed, supportive setting. We are offering a special Toastmaster scholarship to new members of the club. Our Food Pantry Needs Your Help SARATOGA SPRINGS – School’s out for the summer...and that means more kids are at home. For those families who rely on the free lunch programs at school, they’re turning to Franklin Community Center’s food pantry to help make ends meet during the summer months, and we are desperately in need of food as soon as possible. Donations may be made at our office located at 10 Franklin Street, Mon.-Fri., 8am-4pm. Items Needed: Peanut Butter and Jelly, Spaghetti Sauce, Pasta, Canned Beans, Macaroni and Cheese, Chef Boyardee and Spaghettio’s, Hamburger Helper, Rice, Canned Fruit, Cereal, Pork-n-Beans, Hearty Soups, Ramen Noodles/Cup-a-Soups, Coffee, Tuna, Noodle/Rice Side Dishes, Laundry/Dish Soap. Also, gently used, in season clothing, small household goods and toys may be donated Tuesdays, 9am1pm at our distribution center (101 Washington Street). CAPITAL REGION – The Capital Region Walk to End Alzheimer’s will take place on September 24 at Saratoga Casino and Raceway in Saratoga Springs. Nearly 1700 people are expected at this year’s event to raise both awareness and funds to fight Alzheimer’s disease. The Alzheimer’s Association of Northeastern NY (NENY) Walk to End Alzheimer’s participants will join Family Chair Doug and Susan McCuen on a 3-mile walk through historic Saratoga Spa State Park. The end of Alzheimer’s disease starts today! Form a team and walk with family, friends, and co-workers or as an individual. There will be entertainment, children’s activities and much more.
