SARATOGA SPRINGS – In recognition of the highly successful community Peace Fair held in Saratoga Springs the last two years, Mayor Scott Johnson has declared September 19-25, 2011 to be Peace Week in Saratoga Springs. The proclamation, signed June 27, declares that “the City of Saratoga Springs seeks to be a peaceful and just community that is inclusive of all people and rejects violence as a way to resolve differences.” Through the proclamation, the Mayor also encourages other organizations to sponsor peace-related events during that week “to spread the message of peace and justice in our community”, in addition to the Peace Fair itself, which will be held at the Presbyterian-New England Congregational Church on Sunday, September 25. The Peace Fair Steering Committee will coordinate and publish a listing of all businesses and organizations scheduling a peace-related event that week. To be added to the schedule, please contact Linda LeTendre, Community Event Coordinator, at 584-0902 or linda@scolex.org with specific details of the planned activity by September 5. More information about the Peace Fair can be found at www.peace-ing.org.
