APF Reduces Adoption Fees SCOTIA – The Animal Protective Foundation, 53 Maple Avenue in Scotia is overflowing with cats and dogs and more coming in everyday. To promote adoptions and in celebration of the foundation’s 80th Anniversary, adoption fees have been lowered. Most pets can be adopted for just $19.31 - the year the APF was founded. Cats 1 year of age or older and most dogs are $19.31. Kittens are $50. The shelter is open Tuesday-Saturday from 12-4:30pm and till 7:30pm on Thursdays. Learn more at www.animalprotective.org. (P)
Paddling for a Cure ALPLAUS – The Alplaus Fire Departments Ladies Auxiliary is proud to present the 6th annual Paddling for a Cure event, which raises money for our local chapter of the American Cancer Society, for Making Strides against breast cancer. On Sunday, July 17, paddlers will gather at the Capital Region Maritime Center, 901 Maritime Drive in Alplaus (Schenectady County). Make a personal donation, collect pledges or form a team. Registration begins at 8am. Group launch to immediately follow. Enjoy up to a five-mile paddle on the scenic Mohawk River. Live entertainment by Running the River. Food, beverages, prizes, and a 12’ Perception Carolina kayak will be raffled off. $10 covers the cost of registration and insurance. Registration forms can be printed from www.alplaus.org (click on Paddling for a Cure). Insured and sanctioned by the American Canoe Association.
