LAKE LUZERNE – The Second Grade went to see a production of “Stuart Little” at the Charles R Wood Theatre. Some of the reviews by our students included... “Great”...”Awesome”... and “Fantasticle!” Mrs. Ott from the Stewart M. Townsend Middle School, is the coordinator of the grades 6-8 Ski and Snowboard Club. This club begins in January and will be giving our students the opportunity to learn and practice these two incredible sports! This month, the Kindergarteners will be taking a trip to Sunnyside Gardens as a culmination activity to their science unit and the First Grade will be going to Ellms Tree Farm to use the mapping skills they have learned. Learn How to Cut Heating Costs

WARRENSBURG – Homeowners concerned about the price of home heating fuels are invited to learn ways to cut heating costs at an Energy Town Meeting at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Warren County, 377 Schroon River Road, Warrensburg, on October 18, from 10am-noon. This Energy Town Meeting will be broadcast from Cornell University and will feature Professor Joe Laquatra and Extension Associate Mark Pierce. Laquatra and Pierce will discuss ways to improve a home’s level of energy efficiency that can reduce heating bills by up to $700 a year. They will also address how homeowners whose homes that were damaged by recent storms can receive rebates on appliances and equipment lost due to flooding and made more energy efficient at the same time. CONSTRUCTION COMMENCEMENT NOTICE Spier Falls-Rotterdam New 115kV Transmission Project PSC Case 10-T-0080

Niagara Mohawk Power Corporation (doing business as “National Grid”) anticipates that it will commence site preparation and construction of its Spier Falls-Rotterdam New 115kV Transmission Project on October 25, 2011.

The Project Map below shows the locations where the project will take place. These locations are, in summary, a route running approximately 33 miles north-to-south from Project Map Spier Falls in Saratoga County to Rotterdam in Schenectady County, with an approximately 4 mile segment running east from that route to National Grid’s Ballston Substation.

There are three principal components of this project: (i) busing (electrically joining together) National Grid’s existing Spier Falls-to-Rotterdam Lines 1 and 2; (ii) constructing a new single-circuit transmission line approximately 33 miles long predominately in the same right-of-way; and (iii) rebuilding and reconductoring National Grid’s existing Ballston Tap Line 2 running east from its Ballston Tap approximately 4 miles to National Grid’s Ballston Substation. (The voltage of each of the transmission lines involved in the project is 115 kilovolts.)

Crews will begin with tree and brush clearing on October 25, 2011 and continue with building new structures and running new wire over the next 18 months. Work will be spread over several construction seasons and is expected to be completed by the spring of 2013.
