GLENS FALLS – On July 11, the Glens Falls Golden Eagles Baseball Team will host a “Bark in the Park� night at East Field in Glens Falls, New York to benefit Guiding Eyes for the Blind (GEB), Northern New York (NNY) Puppy Raising Team. The game starts at 7pm as the Golden Eagles host the Amsterdam Mohawks. Tickets are $4 and half of all tickets sales will be donated to the puppy raising program. Members of the Puppy Raising Team will attend with their puppies that are being raised in preparation for guide dog school.

Each attendee who brings a puppy toy will receive a free hot dog. Members of the Golden Eagle Baseball Team will greet attendees in the stands for autographs and to collect donations. Members of the Puppy Raising Team will sing the National Anthem and throw out the first pitch. CAPITAL REGION – The Capital Region Walk to End Alzheimer’s will take place on September 24 at Saratoga Casino and Raceway in Saratoga Springs. Nearly 1700 people are expected at this year’s event to raise both awareness and funds to fight Alzheimer’s disease. The Alzheimer’s Association of Northeastern NY (NENY) Walk to End Alzheimer’s participants will join Family Chair Doug and Susan McCuen on a 3-mile walk through historic Saratoga Spa State Park. CAPITAL REGION – In 2009 Kristine Greco was diagnosed with a form of childhood brain cancer called Anaplastic Medulloblastoma. Approximately 350 children in the United States are diagnosed each year with this awful disease. Kristine fought hard against this very aggressive cancer and underwent extensive brain surgery and a course of grueling treatment including chemotherapy and radiation. Following a yearlong battle, Kristine graduated high school (with honors) and was on the path to a bright future. Recently, after being cancer free for about a year, a follow up MRI showed three large tumors in Kristine’s brain. Kristine was given a poor prognosis and little hope but she and her family refuse to give up or lose hope.
