GLENS FALLS – The Glens Falls Figure Skating Club, based at the Glens Falls Civic Center, is currently competing for a Pepsi Refresh Grant for $5000. The grant money would be used to help fund the club’s learn-to-skate programs for local children and families so the club is able to help keep their program fees affordable. The skating club is asking for the public’s help in their quest for the grant. Everyone can vote by texting 108335 to Pepsi at 73774 once each day during the month of September. Voting can also be done online daily at www.refresheverything.com/gfskating. The club can get POWER votes (worth up to 100 additional votes) from the codes on the inside of yellow Pepsi bottle caps. GLENS FALLS – The South Glens Falls Education Foundation is a 501-c-3, not-for-profit charitable organization whose mission is to provide funding for programs, activities, and projects, which promote creativity, growth, and educational opportunities in the communities encompassing the South Glens Falls Central School District. You are invited to apply for funding by completing an application form. Forms or an electronic version are available from members of the Board of Directors or on our website www.SGFEducationFoundation.org. GLENS FALLS – The Board of Directors of the Adirondack Balloon Festival is pleased to announce that this year’s Festival, which will take place from September 22 thru September 25 will be a tribute to our dear friend, Walter Grishkot, who was a founder and the long-time organizer of the event. Event kicks off Thursday, September 22 at Crandall Park, in Glens Falls. Opening ceremonies will include a tribute to Mr. Grishkot followed by the first balloon launch. On Friday, activities will move to Floyd Bennett Memorial Airport with an evening launch of 70 plus balloons. A full weekend of activities at the Floyd Bennett Memorial Airport will start Saturday at 6:30am with over 85 balloons anticipated to attend this year’s event. Sunday morning’s launch will be a mass ascension entitled “Walter’s Flight”, as all balloons will rise to the sky simultaneously from the Floyd Bennett Memorial Airport. New this year, Sunday evening’s launch will return to Crandall Park to close the weekend with a flight of 20+ balloons. Sportsmen Education Weekend

WARREN COUNTY – Cornell Cooperative Extension will be working in cooperation with Sportsmen Education Instructors and the Warren County Conservation Council to host various sportsmen education classes on Saturday & Sunday, September 17 & 18. Three classes are being offered each day; Sportsman Education, Bow Hunter Education, or Trapper Education (you may choose Only One class per day). These Sportsman and Bowhunter Education classes are being offered as home study course and all materials need to be picked up at Cornell Cooperative Extension Education Center. All classes are Free and will be held from 8:30am-4:30pm at Pack Forest in Warrensburg. Lunch will be available at the site for a fee of $6, with the proceeds from lunch sales benefiting the Warren County Conservation Council’s efforts in education and advocacy.
