Community Service effective for Class of 2025

UPDATE Class of 2024 What? Each Crosby Scholar is asked to serve the community. Service performed should benefit a nonprofit organization or a cause that helps improve the lives of others. Community Service may not be performed at for-profit organizations or businesses. Due to our nonprofit status, we are unable to accept volunteering with a specific candidate or political party as community service. Crosby Scholars staff reserves the right to determine if an activity fulfills its community service requirement. How much? Scholars need to submit at least 5 hours of total service that occurred anytime from May 2022 to present. When? The due date for Scholars remains January 31, 2024. This allows students a full 21 months to complete the service and submit the form.

Class of 2025 What? No change about what type of volunteer service we accept. We have a helpful FAQ that can guide students and families to settings and types of volunteer service will count for Crosby purposes. Click here! How much? Scholars will be asked to complete 2 hours each year (in continuity with the 6-10 program). As an added perk, those who complete 4 or more hours as a Junior will have their Senior requirement fulfilled. If they submit 2 hours as a Junior, they will need to submit 2 additional hours during their Senior year. When? We will honor the original due date of January 31, 2025 for this class; however, moving forward, Juniors will need to complete their 2 hours of service by the end of the CN1 cycle. Again, no Class of 2025 student will be dismissed for community service until after the 1/31/25 date.

HOW? Students should submit their Community Service on the online form.
