Summer camp is an experience like no other. It’s a place where a girl can be a girl. She can try new things, make tons of friends and learn to take care of others and herself. Divided by grade, campers are encouraged and taught by trained, nurturing young women who love to work with girls. By following basic principles from the Girl Scout Law, such as honesty, responsibility and respect, camp encourages girls to make the world a better place. Join us this summer and watch your girl grow into a more courageous, confident and character-filled individual. A girl can be herself at camp. We live by the Girl Scout Promise and Law at camp. Girls can enjoy 50 different week-long summer programs including skill-building, environmental education, adventure and leadership. We have highly-trained staff and volunteers with a passion for guiding children and teens.
WE SALUTE YOUR ENERGY. We’re proud to support the Girl Scouts of Chesapeake Bay.

Who can attend our camps? All girls are welcome to attend Girl Scout camp. There is a $15 fee due at registration for campers who are not currently registered Girl Scout members. This $15 fee is due in addition to the $50 deposit. Accreditation – All camp programs meet standards of health, safety and program excellence set by the Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA). Camp Grove Point and Camp Todd are accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA). The ACA symbol guarantees that the highest standards possible are met in the areas of safety, staff, cleanliness and program excellence.
Camp Staff – GSCB hires professional, nurturing camp staff and volunteers. Our staff is carefully selected from applicants from all over the world. They are chosen for their maturity, program design abilities, experience and interest in the outdoors. All staff attend training in girl safety, program execution and camp skills. Health and Safety – Your camper’s health and safety are our first priority. All programs are planned and staffed according to the high standards of GSUSA and the state. All summer camp programs have a certified first aider who is also trained in CPR. Our Resident Camps provide a licensed nurse or have a health supervisor who is in daily contact with a licensed doctor for consultation if necessary. If your camper has any allergies or health concerns, please contact the Director prior to camp.
Camper Behavior – Camp life is an excellent opportunity for girls to live and work together. It is the camp staff’s responsibility to ensure that girls find productive ways to work through their differences. However, if a girl cannot follow the behavioral agreements set by the camp, she may be asked to leave. It is the parent or guardian’s responsibility to pick up their camper when notified. No refunds will be issued if a camper is sent home for behavioral issues.
Refunds and Cancellations – Camp fees, minus non-refundable deposits, will be refunded only if a camper does not attend due to serious illness or accident. Illness or accident refund requests must be verified in writing by the attending physician. All other refund requests must be submitted in writing by June 1, stating the reason for the request. If a camper does not show up or stay the entire program due to homesickness, behavioral problems, parent request, lack of enjoyment, early departures, late arrivals or schedule conflicts, etc. there is no refund. GSCB reserves the right to modify or cancel any program listed in the brochure. Deposits will be refunded only if the chosen program is full or canceled and no other program is desired by the camper.

First and Second Choice – Be sure to list both a first and second choice of programs on your registration form. If the first choice is full, we will place the camper in her second choice.
Financial Assistance – Camp financial assistance or “camperships” are available to help offset campers’ costs. Campership Financial Assistance Application (pg. 18) must accompany the Summer Camp Registration form. All registrations for camperships must be received by April 1, 2014 for first priority. Swimming Evaluation – At the beginning of each session (where swimming is available), our aquatic staff hosts a swimming evaluation for all campers. This is a non-threatening, non-competitive activity designed to evaluate each camper’s swimming ability and comfort level in the water. All swimming levels are welcome at camp. Sleeping Arrangements – Campers live together in groups based on their grades and programs. We have a range of accommodations including: Four-person platform tents with wooden floors and cots - This is a favorite of many and a traditional element of Girl Scout camps everywhere. The majority of campers will live in traditional platform tent units. Four-Person Adirondack shelters with three walls, a fourth screen wall and bunk beds.
The Trading Post – The Trading Post is GSCB’s camp store. Campers may purchase t-shirts, patches, stationery and other items. A deposit in the camper’s name enables her to make purchases from the Trading Post without the worry of handling money. Trading Post balances will be converted to Bay Shop gift cards and mailed to the campers by August 31, 2014. (Average deposit is $25.)
Bring a friend to camp – Do you have a friend who is not a Girl Scout? Does she love the outdoors and making new friends? Bring her with you to camp this summer. Imagine all the fun you two could have together at camp.
EZ – Pay - We know the current economy can be challenging on family budgets. To make it “EZ”, we are offering a new payment option. Sign up for EZ-Pay on the registration form and pay for summer camp in installments. Payment 1: By April 1, 2014; Payment 2: May 1, 2014; Payment 3: June 1, 2014.
