Appreciation Pin DARLENE BAILEY - SU 27 Darlene started as a troop leader in Service Unit

27, but has truly emerged as a leader within the service unit. Darlene has not only served as a delegate for the service unit, in the past five years, she has served as Organizer, where she has shown a gift for encouraging new girls and leaders into Girl Scouting and as registrar, where she ensures that all troops have up to date forms and information for registration and promotes the early bird process each year.

JENNIFER BRIDGE - SU 1 Jennifer has been instrumental in the success

Service Unit 1 has experienced over the past three years. In addition to being a leader, Jennifer has taken on multiple duties on the service team. These roles include Cookie Cupboard and Booth Coordinator, Family Partnership Manager and Organizer - a position that was previously done by four volunteers! Jennifer not only lives and breathes Girl Scouting, she is what Scouting is all about.

SONJA BROOKS - SU 13 Sonja first became active in Girl Scouts as a leader, serving as many as three troops at once. She eventually joined the service team where she has served on multiple planning teams for service unit encampments and has helped run those events. Sonja also developed a handbook for the service unit to provide easy access to information for new leaders. She educates the new leaders, answers their questions and encourages them to become active in the service unit. Sonja has gone and continues to go above and beyond the call of duty!

SUZANNE BUMP - SU 33 Suzanne has been the Service Unit Cookie Manager

for Service Unit 33 for the past five years. She has continuously improved the implementation of the Girl Scout Cookie Program, has tailored the education to suit the needs of all cookie managers and ensures that all cookie information is communicated to volunteers. Suzanne also chairs the cookie kick-off event, which is now planned and run by older girls. Without Suzanne’s determination and flexibility, Service Unit 33’s Girl Scout Cookie Program would not be the success that it is. Suzanne has recently added the additional “hat “of Service Unit Auditor. Her dedication to Girl Scouting is commendable and we are fortunate to have her in this service unit.

MEG ERSKINE - SU 27 Meg became part of Service Unit 27’s cookie team

three years ago as co-coordinator of the cookie delivery. She has helped to ensure that the delivery is orderly and efficient. Each troop is encouraged to send a volunteer to help at the delivery. This practice has not only been beneficial to the cookie program, but has boosted the willingness of leaders to volunteer for the service unit in additional ways. Meg has also helped organize service unit events, including encampments and the end-of-year leader/ daughter dinner. Meg is constant in her support of Girl Scouts and Service Unit 27 are lucky recipients of her efforts.

Appreciation Pin BETH ESREY - SU 13 Beth stepped up to the role of Service Unit Cookie Manager in 2009 after the sudden resignation of the previous manager. Beth took the bull by the horns, learned on the go and did a fantastic job! Her leadership that first year resulted in nearly a three-fold increase in cookie bucks, with a six-fold increase in 2011. Beth also opened her home to offer an alternative cupboard location with more varied times. Beth also serves as Recognitions Chair, which takes a combination of detective work, perseverance, persuasion and organization. She has even spearheaded the creation of a new award. Beth is a shining example of what a dedicated and outstanding volunteer and human being is!

NANCY GERVAY - SU 27 Nancy was a fairly new leader when she heeded Service Unit 27’s call for a Family Partnership Chair. She organized fun events for the campaign which increased both event attendance and campaign participation. She even goes so far as to pass around the piggy bank at each service unit meeting to collect any spare change! Nancy has also helped with service unit encampments and has served as a delegate for the service unit.

She brings joy, enthusiasm and a “can do” attitude to whatever she does.

JOANN HADLEY - SU 27 During her twelve years as a troop leader, Joanne was also a member of the service team in Service Unit 27. She has served as the Cookie Booth Coordinator, Service Unit Delegate and silver and gold advisor. Even after her daughter graduated, Joanne has continued in her position as booth coordinator and has taken on the additional role of recognitions chair. Joanne readily shares her wealth of experience and always goes that extra mile.

NICCI JOHNSON - SU 13 Nicci is Service Unit 13’s “event planning queen”. If

she’s not organizing or running an event, she’s often behind the scenes designing patches or t-shirts for the event. Nicci consistently works with local businesses to support service unit events – particularly for family partnership. In addition to serving as the event coordinator, Nicci has also been the Family Partnership Chair and most recently the Co-Cookie Program Manager, where she shared her cookie selling secrets and “tricks of the trade”. Her enthusiasm is contagious!

ANNE MARTELLI - SU 27 Anne stepped up as co-coordinator for Service Unit

Anne has also served as a Service Unit Delegate and, for the past five years, has been in the role of organizer for Friends School. Anne is a great role model for other leaders in the service unit.

KELLY OFFUTT - SU 27 Kelly has been the Fall Product Sales Manager for

Service Unit 27 for three years. Her dedication has resulted in a more organized, efficient program and an increase in participation and sales. Kelly has also served as a Service Unit Delegate and, for the past five years, has been in the role of organizer for St. Mary Magdalene School. Kelly has become a confident leader and is an excellent role model for her scouts and other leaders.

JULIE RAGAN - SU 27 Julie stepped out of the parent ranks three years ago to

become Service Unit 27’s Cookie Manager. Despite moving out of the service unit, Julie continues in this role because she wants the service unit to succeed. She has also helped with other service team tasks when needed. Julie is enthusiastic, easy to understand, accessible and dedicated. She is truly a super volunteer.

KELI WITT- SU 33 Keli has been the Booth Sales Coordinator for Service Unit

33 for the past 5 years. Through her management of the booth sales, the service unit has been able to retain and continues to expand the booth sale component of the Girl Scout Cookie Program despite the ever-tightening corporate policies and retail closings. This has provided opportunities for the girls to not only be highly visible in the community, but also to interact with and share their goals with the customers at the hosting locations. It’s apparent that Keli believes any goal can be achieved and any obstacle can be overcome with enough perseverance.

EVELYN BROWNLEE Evelyn is an active board member and a lifetime Girl Scout.

She serves on the Women of Distinction committee, the bylaws task group and as Association VI board liaison. Most recently, Evelyn has accepted the position of chair of the philanthropy committee. She is committed to personally thanking every high level donor for their individual contribution.

MARGARET ROSE Margaret serves as a member of the board and executive committee. She participated as a team member on council’s strategic learning project, where her experience and skill set were integral throughout the situation analysis and strategic choice phases. Margaret has been a wonderful advocate for Girl Scouts in the corporate world where she has reached out to colleagues to become leaders and has worked to procure donations and grants.

LYZBETH ARELLANO Lyzbeth has been an active board member serving on the Northern Service Center Task Group and as delegate to the National Council Session. She also serves as the Association IV board liaison. Although Lyzbeth lives in the southern portion of our council, she attends events across the Peninsula.

Her participation at Dover Legislative Day helped us reach out to new contacts.

CLARE ROSS Clare serves as a volunteer in Service Unit 4 where she holds

service team positions of Registrar, Easton Coordinator, New Leader Coordinator and PR representative and has chaired many service unit events. Clare has not only been an active service unit and troop volunteer, but has been a five-time volunteer for Summer Roundup at Camp Todd, currently serving as assistant director. In this role, she has not only introduce girls to camp, but has been successful in finding troop placements after camp.

KARA STREETS Kara has served as an active member of the Girl Scout Gold Award Review Committee for the past three years. She is always willing to attend reviews, but, more importantly, she offers valuable insight and suggestions to girls on how to take their projects from the level of a service project to that of a Gold Award project. Kara is a caring person who tries to instill her love of Girl Scouting in everything she does.

Thanks Badge KEVIN McCORMICK Kevin serves on the executive committee for the Board of Directors, is chair of the finance committee as well as serving on the Capital Campaign and the Northern Service Center Task Group. Kevin’s knowledge regarding finances has helped the council stay fiscally strong through these very trying economic times. Kevin has been a stabilizing factor in the realm of the council finances and has helped to transition several CFO’s. He has been most helpful in the development of procedures regarding the receipting of checks, bank account transfers and best practices for monies earned during the Capital Campaign. His extensive knowledge of both the Girl Scout world and the community at large has been most beneficial as we look for a new home for our Newark service center. Kevin has also been an excellent role model to both our Girl members and our adult members. Whenever he makes a decision he knows that it will affect every Girl Scout. Much of what Kevin does is behind the scenes and many may not know him, but his work has been felt by all. Our council would not be as fiscally sound without him. Kevin believes in our mission of building girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.

The Juliette Low Humanitarian Award JAN KIRK - SU 12 Over the past 25 years, Jan has worn and still wears many “hats” in Girl Scouting. Each and every hat that Jan wears is a huge undertaking. Her ability to do each role successfully is a testimony to the passion she has for the Girl Scout program. She works endlessly to ensure that girls get the highest quality programming and that adults get the best support and training available to them.

Jan currently serves a Service Unit Manager, Outdoor Consultant and Cookie Booth Coordinator for Service Unit 12. She is an active council facilitator, a member of the gold award committee and serves as a gold award adviser. Jan is also the chair of her association, the fall school committee and the co-chair of the annual meeting.

Jan has devoted herself to the goals and mission of girl scouting. She has had a profound effect on the entire council and the community in which she lives and continues to serve as an outstanding mentor in the tradition of Juliette Low. 7
