Whether it’s exploring a massive B5 airplane at Dover Air Force Base, zipping through a canopy of trees, or creating a robot out of everyday household items, Girl Scouts are learning and growing through experiencing new and different activities. The GSCB 2014-2015 Council Program Guide includes many of these programs – including Women in Aviation, hosted by the Delaware 99s, Engineering Your Tomorrow sponsored by DuPont, and a multitude of outdoor activities at our camps. We look forward to another successful On My Honor: A Celebration of Achievement event in January, honoring a large number of Girl Scout Gold, Silver and Bronze Award recipients. Please mark your calendars and support these accomplished girls. Information about the 2014 Fall Product Program and the 2015 Girl Scout Cookie Program is also included in the guide. GSCB’s Program Department partners with organizations such as museums, nature centers, parks and arts institutions to develop programming connected to Girl Scout Journeys and badges. Every program geared towards a badge includes this information in the description. Many of the activities included in this guide have registration through the sponsoring organization. Please make sure to check the registration information in each program’s description. We are also providing a list of Preferred Vendors for our troop leaders. These are organizations we have worked with to provide programming, and troop leaders may contact them directly to set up a program that suits your troop’s schedule. Again this year, we are offering many programs with a strong STEM (science, engineering, technology and math) focus. Our new Digital Media Center at Camp Country Center offers many programs in photo editing and videography. We hope you have the opportunity to visit. We look forward to another great Girl Scout membership and program year! Yours in Girl Scouting,

Anne T. Hogan Chief Executive Officer

Who Can Attend An Event? All girls are invited to attend the events listed in the Council Program Guide. If the girl is not a registered Girl Scout, we simply ask that you go online to www.gscb.org, fill out a membership registration form and pay the $15 membership fee in addition to the event cost. You may attend with your troop, bring a friend or just come join the fun with your fellow Girl Scout sisters! To register for programs, please use the Event Registration Form found on page 56 or at www.gscb.org. When filling out your registration form, please be sure to include the name of the event for which you are registering and email to: program@cbgsc.org. You may also mail or fax to: Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay 501 S. (Membership Registration Form may be completed online at www.gscb.org.) Siblings and Friends Female siblings and friends are welcome to join us if they meet the grade level requirements of the program. Please consult Volunteer Essentials for exact ratio information. Individually registered girls must be accompanied by one adult. When a program specifies that adult attendance is not required, a medical release form and parent permission slip must be provided to the program leader. Our primary goal is to provide quality programming to girls. As a result, there may not be space available above the adult-togirl ratios. Payment Include full payment with all registrations. We accept troop debit cards, Visa/MasterCard/Discover/American Express credit cards, checks or cash. Checks need to be written in blue or black ink. Please make checks payable to GSCB and include a phone number and driver’s license number on the front of the check. Do not send cash through the mail. Payments will be processed as they arrive to the offices of GSCB. Late-Fee Any Event Registration Forms received after the 14 days registration deadline will incur a per participant late fee. All Event Registrations must be date stamped by the cut-off date. Event cost $0 - $10 = $1 per participant Event cost $11 - $20 = $2 per participant Event cost $21 - $40 = $4 per participant Event cost $41 & over = $6 per participant Confirmations Once we receive your registration, a receipt will be sent via email (troop leaders will receive confirmation for troop registrations). The confirmation will indicate whether you have been registered for the event or on a waiting list. If a program is not filled by the closing date (14 days prior to the event), it may be cancelled and notifications will be sent via email.

Financial Assistance Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay is grateful to the many individuals, service clubs and businesses for their support of the Financial Assistance program. GSCB also receives funding for financial assistance from the Wilmington Flower Market, the Christmas Shop, the United Fund of Talbot County and the United Ways of Delaware, the Lower Eastern Shore of MD, the Virginia Eastern Shore and Cecil and Kent counties. Financial Assistance is available for all Girl Scout events unless otherwise noted. For more information, contact GSCB at 800-341-4007. Cancellations and Refunds Events are held rain or shine unless inclement weather would adversely affect the program. In those cases, participants will be notified of cancellation and/ or rescheduling of programs. If GSCB cancels an event for any reason or cannot place participants in the event of their choice, GSCB will issue a complete refund of the registration fee. If the minimum number of participants is not met 14 days prior to the program date, unless otherwise noted, the program will be cancelled. Cancellation and refund requests must be made in writing. 30 days written notice is required to receive 50 percent of registration fees of $7.50 or more per individual. No refunds will be issued if less than 30 days written notice is given, unless for medical reasons. Refunds for medical reasons will only be processed if notification is made before the event or within one week following the event, accompanied by a doctor’s note. No refunds will be issued for individuals who do not show up for their scheduled event. The $15 membership is non-refundable. Religious Recognitions In addition to our My Promise, My Faith award, religious recognitions are developed and administered by each of the major religious groups. Through Girl Scouting, each girl is encouraged to become a stronger member of her own religion. Girls who choose to participate in one of these programs do so outside the regular troop meetings with a group of girls guided by a spiritual counselor or with

their own families. For more information, please visit www.prayerpub.org or call 800-933-7729. Patch Program GSCB has a variety of patch programs to enrich and supplement the group experience with fun opportunities to Discover, Connect and Take Action. Outdoor experiences in Girl Scouts provide opportunities for girls to discover, connect and take action out-of-doors in ways that build courage, confidence, and character. These experiences increase girls’ understanding and curiosity about the natural world, and shape girl leaders who are conscientious with regard to the world around them. Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay offers outdoor camp experiences for ALL girls, including troop camping, day camps and overnight camps at four beautiful camps with a wide variety of amenities and fun program opportunities. Come and visit -- take a walk, have a picnic or come for a fun program. Once you see the camps, we hope you will come back to stay for longer. Reserving a building or site for day or overnight use is easy and financially reasonable! Where else can you and 25 of your coolest friends sleep away from home for the same price as a one night stay in an average hotel room? For more information about reserving any of our camps, please check the camp section of our website at www.gscb.org or contact the registrar at 800-341-4007. Ranger Assistants Needed Do you love to be outside and work with your hands? If so, consider being an assistant to the camp rangers and be a part of a team that is making a difference. Please contact the ranger at each camp site to let them know that you are interested. Occasionally we are in need of services such as: tent setup, tent take down, cleaning, carpentry work, electrical work, plumbing and landscaping. If you have skills in any of these areas, please contact the ranger at the site you would like to assist. Please contact each camp ranger directly to learn more about property needs. Outdoor Program Equipment Rentals In addition to scheduled programs, you can rent outdoor program equipment on site and customize your program to your girls’ needs. Equipment is reserved on a first come, first served basis and provided upon availability. Complete the Outdoor Equipment Rental Form on the following page and send it to the council registrar at the address printed on the form. You must ensure that your group has the appropriate certification and training needed to use the equipment as is stated in Girl Scouts Safety Activity Checkpoints. If you do not have the required education to teach the program, contact the registrar for a list of certified instructors that may be able to help you with your program. We are here to help you and your girls enjoy our camps!

Dive in and be active in this year’s Fall Product Program! It’s a great way to earn funds early in the membership year and learn the Five Skills. The program offers delicious nuts and candy as well as magazines to purchase. Ask your troop leader how to get involved in this great program or call GSCB at 302-456-7150 for more information.

The 5 Skills teach valuable financial literacy skills to girls in both the Fall Product Program and the Girl Scout Cookie Program: GOAL SETTING: Girls set program sales goals with their team and create a plan to reach them. DECISION MAKING: Girls develop a basic business plan for program sales and work as a team to decide when and where to sell cookies and what to do with the money they earn. MONEY MANAGEMENT: Girls develop a budget, take orders, handle customers’ money and gain valuable practical life skills. PEOPLE SKILLS: Girls learn how to communicate effectively with all kinds of people while participating in both product programs. BUSINESS ETHICS: Girls are honest and responsible during every step of the sales process.

This year, girls can ask customers to buy nuts and candy online with a credit card and have items shipped directly to the customer. A new product, to remember thisTM is a new collection of personalized digital photo books, calendars, cards and more!

The Girl Scout Cookie Program is more than a fundraiser. It’s a fun way for girls to earn money to realize their dreams, and it’s a hands-on leadership and financial literacy program unlike any other in the world. The knowledge and skills learned serves them for a lifetime. Girls gain essential skills, not from a book, but from real-life experiences building a strong foundation for success. Digital Cookie

In addition, the Digital Cookie Channel will: Use a “flipped classroom” model where girls learn online and then practice skills when together. Girls have the chance to sell both online and in-person — learning different skills in different environments. They can take advantage of the “just-in-time” learning opportunities that are possible in a digital experience and learn 21st Century entrepreneurial skills that they can use beyond the cookie business.

This year, GSCB will be offering seven delicious cookies! Meet Rah-Rah Raisins, the newest cookie. Rah-Rah Raisins are made with whole grain oats, plump juicy raisins and trendy Greek yogurt-flavored chunks.

Digital Cookie, launching in 2015, offers a whole new method of selling for the Girl Scout. Here’s how it works: the girl creates her personalized web site and includes her goals, personal statements, and a photo/video. Then, she identifies customers and markets to them through email with a link to her personalized site. She can track her business through a personalized dashboard and learn digital business skills. Customers place orders on her site, and select either direct shipment, delivery from the Girl Scout, or donation to Operation Taste of Home. The Girl Scout Digital Cookie Channel will teach girls the Five Skills, engage girls using our leadership processes: Girl-Led, Learning by Doing and Cooperative Learning, and provide opportunities for girls to earn the Cookie Business and Financial Literacy Badges.

Rah Rah Raisin

Troops can earn two patches through the GSCB Goal Setting Patch program. Look for complete details with the Fall Product Program materials. To receive the Goal Setting Patches for the girls in the troop: Operation Taste of Home For 12 years, Girl Scouts across the Delmarva Peninsula have thanked members of the U.S. Armed Forces and supported people in need with Girl Scout Cookies. Customers can purchase cookies as a donation, giving to others while supporting Girl Scouting at the same time.

1. The girls must discuss and set goals for the 2014/2015 Girl Scout program year. 2. Complete the Goal Setting Patch Program Worksheet and Patch Order form. • To earn both patches, turn form in to your Service Unit with your FPP paperwork. 3. To earn just the Goal Getter patch, turn form in to the Service Unit by January 15, 2015. 4. Participate in the 2014 Fall Product Program with at least $100 in sales. 5. Participate in the 2015 Girl Scout Cookie Program. Girl Scouts of the Chesapeake Bay
