On Thursday night we had our Celebration of the Arts play, “Alice in Wonderland,” that the Lower School put on. Backstage was very busy. There was a rabbit running around complaining that he was late.

As you might know, we had the Wax Mu-

teachers for helping and loving us so much.

This year in lower school has been a great year for all of us! It’s so sad it’s coming to an end. There are so many great memories we will remember like Circus congé, field trips, Celebration of the Arts and many more things. I am very sad that I will be leaving the lower school next year. I really enjoyed Alice in Wonderland. Everybody did a great job. I loved the fact that when I was absent on Thursday (day of play),tweedle dee acted out my part — and that night everyone came up to me and said it was hilarious! This is truly a year to remember!

Thursday, April 11th was the evening for the celebration of the CSH Film Festival! Many students from the upper school made short but important films. Some of the films were: Setting the Beat: Story of a DJ by Caroline Burch and Catherine Hayden; Salon on Wheels (and I have to say the dogs were so cute!) by Shelby Holland; Unexpected Gifts by Erin Manning; A family on and off the stage by Jennie Chieco and many, many more! The categories included creative film, public service announcement, and documentary. The judges picked 1st and 2nd places, and the audience chose the audience award. The winners got an Oscar… how fun! There were so many great films about dogs, dancers, bullies, exercising and a NY fish market! All the films were amazing, and I can’t wait until I can make a film. It will be so much fun!!!

CSH vs. Choate Tennis By: Grace Coale On Wednesday, April 9th the CSH Tigers defeated Choate, a boarding school in Wallingford, CT, and evened their record to 1-1 on the season. Number one player, senior Michele Urbinati, got everything started by winning her match 6-1, 6-1. Freshman Grace Conrad, the number two player, won her match 6-1, 7-5. It was fun to see Grace in action since we used to be in the same tennis academy. The number three player, freshman Madison Miles, won her match 6-2, 6-3. Sophomore Maddie Church pulled off her win 4-6, 6-1, 10-8. When I was there I saw one doubles match, and I think it was one of the best I’ve ever seen! As Coach Fraser told me, “It was a good win for our talented

Preschool Tea Party By: Mary Clare Marshall Have you seen the pictures of the preschoolers in the hallway? In the pictures they are at a tea party because they were celebrating 100% participation in the Annual Fund. For the tea party the girls got to come to school in party dresses. During the party, they drank ice tea in tea cups and ate cookies and carrots. The girls got to play games and had a visit from Dr. Marr. When the preschoolers went home they were each given a flower teacup and saucer. I wasn’t there, but my sister was — the Preschool Tea Party sounds like a lot of fun!

Injuries (aka Oops!) By: Molly Braun & Sumner Hill

You may have noticed that there are several of us in the lower school who have additions to our uniforms. Casts!!! Molly Braun and Sumner Hill decided to answer everyone’s questions about what happened — by interviewing each other! MOLLY INTERVIEWS SUMNER HILL ABOUT HER WRISTS Molly: How did you break both of your wrists? Sumner: I broke them while snowboarding. Molly: How do you manage to get through the entire day? Sumner: Well, it was difficult at first but I learned to do more and more each day. Molly: Was it painful when you broke your wrists? Sumner: Yes, but after a while the pain went away. Molly: Where did you break your wrists? Sumner: I broke them in Beaver Creek, Colorado. NOW SUMNER INTERVIEWS MOLLY ABOUT HER FOOT Sumner: How did you hurt your foot? Molly: I was walking down the stairs at a hockey game. Sumner: Did you trip? Molly: Yes. Sumner: What did you do to it? Molly: I sprained my ankle and pulled a muscle. Sumner: Was it painful? Molly: Yes, but luckily there was a doctor sitting near me. Sumner: Were you able to put pressure on your foot the first few nights? Molly: No, I could not walk on it Friday Night and Saturday morning. We hope everyone else is much more careful than we were — but we sure do like having our casts signed by all our friends!!

“Alice in Wonderland” By: Gabby Finn Bravo! Everyone did a wonderful job. The play had a real wonderful feel to it – the excitement was so cool. Alice in Wonderland was a “must see.”

BOOK FAIR

Jump Rope for Uganda

On April 8-9 the annual Booktopia Book Fair came back to CSH!!! This year they had even more books and, thanks to the CSH grandparents and lower school girls for the drawings, we had a cookbook!! If you didn’t get one, you can buy one on the website. I think everyone had so much fun at the Book Fair, and all the classrooms got new books for the girls to enjoy!! I hope you enjoyed it, and we can’t wait for next year!!

A few weeks ago, Sacred Heart enjoyed Jump Rope for Uganda and Kenya. Since I am on the Student Council, I got to help arrange some of the songs. I hope you all enjoyed the songs. We also helped pass out the jump ropes at the end. Some of my favorite things to do at Jump Rope for Uganda are jump rope, hula hoop, and dance with your friends. I hope you all had a wonderful time at Jump Rope for Uganda and Kenya.

Africa Morning In 4A By: Claudia Schmidt

We started Africa Day in 4A at around 10:00, when we piled downstairs to the lower library’s reading room. One of our classmates, Emmaline, told both 4A and 4B about her trip to Africa. She showed us her photo album while she talked. Then after she finished, our teachers Mrs. Moore, Mrs. Kerstein and Mrs. DePeter read us an African folktale. Once we finished that we went back upstairs. Some girls went to do watercolors of what inspires us, and the others went to do the same thing with oil pastels. Before lunch, we went to a drumming performance where we danced a little bit, sang a little bit, then we did a little bit of clapping to the beat. Then at the end of all of it we played the instruments including the drums… COOL!!! I thought it was the best Africa day for me in the lower school. By the way, you all looked great in your African colors!!!!!!
