Backstage at Broadway Dreamin’ By Sophia Jansen & Regina Finn

Do you remember the play for the Celebration of the Arts, ‘Broadway Dreamin’? Well, on stage it was exciting, but backstage was even more exciting! There were many quick changes like the dad to a nun and a fairy to a spoon. But that’s not all! Students had to run around backstage to get in the right position to enter, but the worst part was NO TALKING! It was important to be quiet so the actors on stage got the spotlight, but, to confess, a few whispers got out! Also, it was tough getting changed from the song “Let it Go” the final bows, so a lot of fourth graders brought their costumes backstage! Also, one of the authors of this article, Sophia, who played

Dr. Ann Marr

the dad, got stuck with the most quick changes! You can imagine the stress! Well, that is what went on backstage at ‘Broadway Dreamin’! But it was fun!

“The Tale of Emily Windsnap” By: Liz Kessler Book Review by: Mary Kate Blum

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a mermaid? I read a book that makes that dream real. Let me tell you about a book called The Tail of Emily Windsnap. This book is about a girl named Emily. When she goes in the water, her legs form a tail. In other words, she becomes a mermaid, or as the book says, semi-mer. While under water, she meets a full mermaid named Shona. Emily goes to Shona’s school for a day and loves it. Then Emily and Shona go on a quest to find Emily’s dad. I love this book, and give it a 5 star rating. Also, if you like this book, you’re in luck! There are four more books in this series.

The Dr. Marr Tea Party

Movie Review: Rio 2

By Erin Griffin, Charlotte Fallon, and Annie Hamilton

By: Margaret Foley and Gabrielle Lauria

Remember the Dr. Marr Tea Party? Wasn’t it so much fun? We know we had a ball. There were delicious things to eat and drink like tasty lemonade, scrumptious chocolate-covered strawberries, and yummy cookies. The best part was when some lower School students shared their favorite memories about Dr. Marr. All lower school students wrote letters to Dr. Marr and they were put into a big book that she said she will cherish forever. At the end, we all sang “You’ve Got a Friend in Me” to Dr. Marr. Thank you Dr. Marr for making CSH the best place it could possibly be. We will miss you but you will be in our hearts forever!!!

In Rio 2, a blue macaw named Blu goes on a wild adventure with his wife Jewel and their three children. They go to the Amazon Jungle to search for other blue macaws that they saw on a news report. Blu is surprised when he meets his old enemy, Nigel, a cockatoo. They also meet Jewel’s father and

Field Hockey Camp By: MK Braun, Gracie Cadman, and Katherine Devine CSH has a field hockey camp every summer. It is a great camp for kids and has many fun activities. It also teaches kids how to play. Some reasons I think this camp is very fun are because it keeps us active, we learn while having a lot of fun, you can meet new people and the coach is very nice. Also some girls on the CSH field hockey team come to teach as well. If you don’t understand a drill the coach is always happy to state it more clearly. Parents, you don’t need to go out and buy a stick and eye goggles; they provide them! But if you happen to have a field hockey stick or eye goggles you can definitely bring them! All you will need is a mouthguard and make sure to bring a snack and a water bottle. Check out the CSH field hockey camp on the CSH website and we hope to see you there! The camp starts at 8:30 and ends at 12:30 at the CSH fields and dates are June 16th – June 20th. Enjoy!

her whole family. Then they are all threatened when humans come to the Amazon to cut down the trees. Blu’s owner from the first Rio movie and her new husband help to save them. Find out what else happens when you watch Rio2. Gabrielle and Margaret give it 3 green hearts out of 5. We both thought the birds were really pretty so it got stars for that, but it lost stars because it did not have enough detail. The first Rio was better because it had more and different scenery and places. Seeing the movie was exciting because a little boy sitting behind us kept pulling Gabrielle’s hair and dropping his toys on our heads. But the popcorn was really good.

New CSH Construction By: Rachel Pyne

You may have noticed that there is new construction around the school. This construction will be taking place from 2014-2016. While the gym is under construction, we have dance in the theater and gym class in the front circle/pool. The new construction will allow us to have a bigger gym area which will include a workout room, a big dance studio, three basketball courts, and much more. We will also have an outdoor classroom. We will be rebuilding the cafeteria and will have an indoor/outdoor fireplace. I hope that you are as excited as I am about the new construction!
