Graduation

The 75 members of the Class of 2017 at Sacred Heart Greenwich proudly graduated on Friday, June 2. The ceremony included a Baccalaureate Liturgy celebrated by Bishop Frank J. Caggiano, Bishop of the Diocese of Bridgeport, followed by the Commencement ceremony. Emily Grubert ’05, the commencement speaker, spoke to the graduates about how the support of the Sacred Heart community shaped who she is. “You have this community behind you, this history of confidence in you, and this quiet encouragement and expectation that yes, you can do that. And you will be this community for others,” said Grubert. Emily is a Stanford University PhD candidate in environmental resources. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in mathematics from Stanford, a Master of Arts degree in energy and earth resources from the University of Texas at Austin, and a Master of Science degree in environmental and water resources engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. Senior Passport Ceremony On Thursday, May 18, the class of 2017 were welcomed as alumnae by participating in their Senior Passport Ceremony. Hannah Walker Miracola ‘06 spoke to the class about how the Goals & Criteria have shaped her life and how they will impact them as they get ready to leave Sacred Heart Greenwich. She said, “You’ve heard it said before, but the education you’ve received at Sacred Heart is one-of-a-kind. We live in a world that runs on self-promotion and yet you’ve been encouraged to put others before yourselves and to serve those less fortunate. We live in a world where faith is often dismissed as “silly or naïve,” and yet within these walls it’s nurtured and celebrated. We live in a world that idolizes individualism, and yet you’ve been invited to use your individual gifts and talents to build community.” The passport is administered by the International Hospitality Network of the AMASC (Association Mondiale des Anciennes du Sacre Coeur) and links Sacred Heart alumnae/i throughout the world.
