Claire Lorentzen '06 announced as Commencement Speaker During the Senior Class Luncheon, Head of School, Pamela Juan Hayes '64 announced that Claire Lorentzen '06 will be the 2018 commencement speaker. Claire is the current Director of Mission Communications for the Conference of Sacred Heart Education. She will be joined by valedictorian Kathryn Goodfriend (Georgetown) and salutatorianMaria "Pau "Barbosa (MIT).

Sacred Heart Greenwich will graduate 72 global leaders in the Class of 2018 on Friday, June 1. As their academic careers come to a close, the Class of 2018 list of college acceptances proves their strong academic interest - particularly in math, science and the humanities.

Dr. Lourdes Sanso '02 Guest Speaker at Cum Laude On Wednesday, April 18, fourteen members of the Class of 2018 were inducted into the Cum Laude Society in recognition of their academic accomplishments.

Dr. Lourdes Sanso '02 returned to King Street to speak to the Upper School about the influence her Sacred Heart Greenwich

education has had on her life saying, "a decade at Sacred Heart taught me there is no limit to what I can do just because I am a woman."

Mater Society Dinner

Fourteen students in the 2018 graduating class have been members of the Sacred Heart community since preschool, pre-k, kindergarten or first grade. On Tuesday, April 17, these "Lifers" and their families gathered for a dinner to celebrate this commitment to our community. The Lifers may have overlapped with your class! They arrived on campus in the fall of 2004 for their first days of preschool and have been showing their Tiger pride ever since.

New Academic Initiatives Four new academic initiatives will commence in the fall. Each initiative emphasizes Sacred Heart Greenwich's commitment to academic rigor from the youngest Barat Center student all the way through our seniors.



At the Lower School level, we will introduce new discovery-based activities to the Singapore Math curriculum to expand students’ critical-thinking and problem solving skills.



A new, integrated computer science curriculum will launch in the Middle School to ensure our students have the 21st century computational thinking skills needed to succeed beyond our campus.



Middle School and Upper School students will benefit from the addition of an anatomage table, or digital 3D cadaver, in biology classes and expanded course offerings to meet student interest in medical and health sciences fields.



A major renovation to the Mary Aloysia Hardey, RSCJ Observatory will give students in each division, especially those enrolled in astronomy, expanded instruction in earth science during class time and in the evenings.

Christina Weiler '17 profiled in Colgate University News

Christina Weiler '17 was recently featured in the Colgate University News for her work with the UCan recycling project. Christina launched the UCan project last fall to help the environment and bring awareness to different social causes. All the money raised from UCan’s bottles and cans is being donated to local homeless outreach programs.

Give from the Heart!

Thanks to the support of our alumnae we exceeded the $10,000 goal for our second annual Give from the Heart for a grand total of $13,830.42 raised for Financial Aid. Thank you to the 163 alumnae who participated in this event. Congratulations to the Class of 2009 who, for the second year in a row, had the highest participation with 20%!

Seventeen Sacred Heart Greenwich broadcast journalism students from the freshman, junior and senior classes visited the A+E headquarters in New York City on April 20.

Organized by Sacred Heart parent and President of A+E Studios, Mr. Paul Buccieri P'21,'23, the students were given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet with top executives who taught them about the world of television production, marketing, and PR. Students had dinner with the crew of the hit TV show Live PD and sat in the control room while it was being filmed.

The Shadow Program at Sacred Heart Greenwich Our alumnae network is strong and what better way to support the next generation of alumnae than by sponsoring a Sacred Heart Upper School student? Students can sign up in June for one, two or three weeks of shadowing experience in a professional environment.

Our students are interested in learning about a variety of fields. If you are interested in hosting a rising sophomore, junior or senior, please complete this form and we will search for a student match.
