HOLIDAY BOWLING BASH

December 2015 PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE Morayma Salas, CSI, CCCA

.

What a great year 2015 has been. Bryan Smith ended his two wonderful years of leadership, and the excellent nomination submitted by Liz O’Sullivan and Michael Young elevated David Bishton to Fellowship at the CSI National Conference in Saint Louis. Jeff Stickney (left), Mark Phillips (right), and Steve Kane (center) were among the bowlers at our Holiday Bowling Bash. We had great attendance and a lot of fun, and collected many toys for Toys 4 Tots, and non-perishable food for the Denver Rescue Mission.

NEXT MONTH Next month we'll meet on the third Tuesday instead of our regularly scheduled second Tuesday of the month. Join us at our January 19, 2015 Chapter Meeting, 11:30 a.m. at the Lakewood Country Club. Rob Haddock will present "Solar and Metal Roofing - the Perfect Combination." He'll cover the basics of solar photovoltaic systems, the ingredients for "solar-ready" projects, and the reasons a metal roof is a perfect solar platform. Rob Haddock is Director of the Metal Roof Advisory Group, Ltd, a consulting firm performing a variety of services for a worldwide clientele. In his 44 years in the industry, Rob has been a contractor, technical writer, training curriculum author, forensic expert, world traveler, inventor, educator, and even rodeo competitor. DENVER FISCAL YEAR 2016: CREATING A FOUNDATION FOR SUCCESSFUL COLLABORATION

I want to take this opportunity to thank our Chapter sponsors for their unconditional support and our Board members for their role in helping to create great educational presentations and successful well-attended events like the July Golf Tournament, the New Members Breakfast and the Holiday Bowling Event. We have a great set of educational programs scheduled. Planning for CONSTRUCT, our biggest event, is underway. (continued on next page)

PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE, continued (continued from previous page) CONSTRUCT will take place March 10th at the PPA Event Center in Downtown Denver. WELL Building is the theme and you do not want to miss it. This year we lost one of our dear members Robert (Bob) Matschulat. I had the pleasure of meeting his two daughters Anna Matschulat Schmidt and Adeline Matschulat at the Rocky Mountain Chapter of A4LE (formerly known as CEFPI) holiday event hosted by The Cuningham Group. During this event the President’s Award was renamed as the “Robert Thomas Matschulat President’s Award,” in honor of Bob’s significant contribution to Colorado educational facilities. His two daughters, Anna and Adeline, accepted the award in his name. After the event, Anna and Adeline shared with Kari-elin Mock that “this was just what their dad would have wanted,” which was a really moving and emotional sentiment! When I met Bob's daughters, Anna told me how she loved it when her dad used to bring them t-shirts from the CSI Conventions. Together we have a chance to make our organization grow among the architectural and construction industry. I am confident that we can achieve this goal together, and that I can count on your participation and support, which is critical. I am looking forward to working with all of you in 2016 in order to continue CSI’s mission of increasing and sharing building knowledge and improved project delivery.
