First Team National Championship in School History Third Undefeated National Champion in NCAA DII History
Letter From Our Leader
Our year started with the opening of the renovated Coussoulis Arena. The fantastic four-sided video board hangs above the beautiful blue seats next to the sparkling new court. The setting is the best in the country for basketball and volleyball. Volleyball spent the fall dominating all teams on its way to our first team National Championship in school history! Their 33-0 season is only the third undefeated volleyball season ever at the NCAA Division II level. Our Men’s Soccer team also made history, with their best season ever, reaching the NCAA Elite Eight and finishing with a number five national ranking. Not to be outdone, our Men’s
Basketball team rose to number 16 nationally while garnering an NCAA Championship Tournament bid for the first time in six years. Importantly, every sport had its moment to shine this year, despite the early ending for the spring sports, and all of our studentathletes carried the heart of a champion. Once again, our Yotes set new records in the classroom. For the year, despite having to spend spring quarter away from campus studying virtually, we achieved a new-record 3.24 All Student-Athlete GPA for the academic year! All 10 teams finished with a GPA above 3.0 for the year! 138 student-athletes achieved at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA. We also set a new record with 82 Yotes earning a place on the CCAA All-Academic Team this year. Among individual honors, Volleyball led the way with Alexis Cardoza being unanimously chosen National Player of the Year. Danny Scott joined her on the podium as National Assistant Coach of the Year. Alexis was also a First Team All-American, along with being named the West Region and CCAA Player of the Year. Sascha Dominique joined Alexis on the AllAmerican First Team. Men’s Soccer’s Frank Daroma achieved the program’s first-ever First Team AllAmerican nod along with being named the CCAA Freshman of the Year. Jeremy Smith from Men’s Basketball capped off a stellar senior season with AllWest Region honors. In addition, 24 student-athletes collectively made their sports All-CCAA Team. I want to personally thank you once again for providing unprecedented support to our studentathletes. Athletics generated $700,000 in revenue this past year, a 25% increase over last year’s record total! On behalf of our student-athletes, coaches, and staff, thank you for your support of CSUSB Athletics. Our student-athletes dealt with incredible adversity this year while proving once again, that the culture we have established will overcome any obstacle. We are 10TeamsONEPACK due to your continued involvement supporting our student-athletes during their time of need. We all look forward to when we will be back together, winning games, and sharing in one another’s company. Until then, know that your Yotes continue to work hard every day staying ready for when their opportunity will come. Stay Safe & Go Yotes!

MISSION VISION & values
T
here was great anticipation that the 2019-20 year would be the greatest in CSUSB Athletics history and our student-athletes blew away all expectations. This past year challenged us in ways we could never have anticipated back in August of 2019. What we discovered to be true is the incredible grit and determination displayed by our student-athletes throughout the year. Our Athletics Annual Report celebrates the greatest year in competition, the classroom, and revenue generation in our history. Most importantly, we honor our student-athletes who demonstrated a champion’s spirit. As always, none of it would be possible without you. Coyote Nation will always be 10TeamsONEPACK!
WORKING THROUGH A STUDENT - ATHLETE CENTERED APPROACH, CSUSB ATHLETICS USES SPORT TO CULTIVATE STUDENT-ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT IN THE CLASSROOM, COMPETITION AND IN LIFE; SERVING AS ROLE MODELS, WE HELP TO FOSTER A CHAMPIONSHIP CULTURE THAT BRINGS STUDENTS, CAMPUS AND COMMUNITY TOGETHER TO SHARE IN THE SUCCESSES OF A NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED ATHLETICS DEPARTMENT.

1st Generation Student-Athletes
It’s a great accomplishment to achieve a GPA above 3.5 and it means a lot to be able to show that I can excel in the classroom as well as on the court. Not having much free time because of everything that comes with being a student-athlete meant that I had to really sit down and focus on school with the free time that I did have, and also use whatever resources that were available to me. It just means a lot to me knowing that I was able to do many things at a high level.
