The protected area around the logo ensures that no other graphic elements interfere with its clarity and integrity. The protected area will always be scaled symmetrically and relative to the logo and/or wordmark. The depth of the protected area is equivalent to the height of 1/2 of the letter “U” in CSUSB or 1/2 of the letter “O“ in Yotes.

Typography plays an important role in communicating an overall tone. Consistent and thoughtful use of typography reinforces our brand and ensures clarity and harmony in all athletics communications. To aid in creating a consistent look for a wide variety of athletics related communications, two typefaces are to be used – CSUSB Gameday and Myriad Pro. Display typefaces are to be used for bold headlines of articles and campaign graphics. CSUSB Gameday, a custom display typeface designed specifically for CSUSB Athletics, has unique grunge design elements that connect to the larger CSUSB brand. These unique characteristics form a distinctive, readily identifiable typeface to be used only for CSUSB Athletics. Consistent use will enhance the overall identity, promote consistency across athletics and build equity in the athletics brand. There are two weights in the CSUSB Gameday font – Regular and Stomp. Stomp should not be overused. There is no lowercase version. Do not try to “make” a lowercase version. Use of CSUSB Gameday font should be limited to no more than one sentence. Myriad Pro Black and Bold can also be used as headline fonts as well. For body text use, lighter weights of Myriad Pro provide legibility at small sizes and comes in a variety of weights and styles for maximum flexibility. These fonts should be used in all CSUSB Athletics applications. Alternate fonts can only be used when receiving approval from the CSUSB Office of Strategic Communication.
Note: The “Yotes” and “Coyotes” wordmark (as seen on page 17 and page 21) are hand lettered typeface and not available in a font.

Our vision is to be the best Athletics Department in Division II, guided by these three values: Champion Student-Athletes, Champion People, and Champion Performance. Our brand is a reflection of our Championship Culture. It represents a student-athlete centered approach, where CSUSB Athletics uses sport to cultivate student-athlete development in the classroom, competition, and in life. Serving as role models, we help foster a championship culture that brings students, campus, and community together to share in the successes of a nationally recognized athletics department. Consistent and correct use of the CSUSB logos and brand reinforces that culture and brings awareness to the community and beyond. Using the correct logos in the primary location is the appropriate symbol in all communication including but not limited to stationary, publications, promotional items, advertisements, apparel, and signage. The CSUSB Athletics logo should be clearly displayed on all visual communications. It may not be incorporated into or combined with any other mark, symbol, or graphic to create a new mark. The logo should be used only for university-approved purposes and cannot be altered in any way.

One of these should be most visible, front and center. It should be the first design to draw your eye. For example, it is to be used on the front of a shirt, hat or the corner pocket of a polo shirt. In print and digital design, it should be near the headline and be eye catching in the design.
S E CO N D A R Y LO G O LO C AT I O N : The secondary logo locations work closely in support of the primary location. Secondary is more flexible, while still making a connection to the brand. The back of a hat or sleeve of a shirt are perfect examples in appeal. In print design you might see these in the footer of the design.

The Cal State San Bernardino Coyotes (Yotes), have been a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) since athletics became a recognized facet of the university in the fall of 1984. The Yotes compete as a member of the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) – the premier Division II athletic conference in the country. The No. 1 CSUSB Coyotes put a fitting cap on what was a historic 2019 season on claiming the NCAA Division II National Championship with a perfect 33-0 record with a 3-1 win over No. 2 Nebraska Kearney in Denver in the National Championship Match from Metro State. The 2019 Yotes claimed the first team national championship, for any sport, in school history, and became just the third team in NCAA DII Volleyball history to go undefeated. In addition, Coyote teams have captured 26 CCAA championships, 27 Player of the Year honors, 20 CCAA Coach of the Year honors and more than 600 individual honors. At the NCAA level, the Coyotes have won 12 Division II regional championships and three Division III regional titles. Seventy-eight individuals have gone on to earn All-American honors.
