Ah, life. Just when you think you’ve got the hang of it, God taps you on the shoulder and says, “Ahem...” My ‘ahem’ moment happened in February when He made it clear to me that I needed to move to Texas to help my elderly parents. My husband, Mark, wasn’t able to leave our home in California; his elderly father had recently moved in with us and he couldn’t afford to give up his job. So off to Longview, Texas I went. To say it was a ‘major transition’ is an understatement. Almost as soon as I had gotten settled into my apartment I felt as if life went from 90 MPH to just under 30. I had trouble with the down times when I wasn’t taking care of my parents, coming back to my very quiet apartment with nothing but television and my laptop to keep me company. And that’s when the noise of the world began seeping in. According to network television and factions of social media, the world is coming to an end.

Broadcasters and bloggers screech at various decibels that nothing is, or ever has been, worse than America right now. They are declaring that up is down, left is right, and that your beliefs are only acceptable if they align with their own. Unfortunately these fear mongers have been whispering in people’s ears since the beginning of time (read ‘Genesis’ for more info). Unlike the selling of apples in Eden before, today their job is to instill the belief that POLITICS is the end-all-be-all, the new Golden Calf upon which to worship. They are telling you that whoever sits on the throne in Washington, D.C. has the power to eliminate all human beings from the face of the earth forever. Of course anyone who has ever actually read the Bible knows this to be absolute hogwash. But there are too many who believe those voices emanating from the electronic boxes on their walls and in their hands, telling them that anyone who doesn’t think the way they do is horrible, racist, unintelligent, and/or dangerous... I knew I needed to get away from all that nonsense, so I went to a Memorial Day Service in my new Texas town. Immediately, I felt surrounded by love. Strangers smiled at me, said hello, and asked me how I was doing. Everywhere I looked there were men and women of various ages, creeds, and color, proudly wearing their uniforms—Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force. There were women crying, lost in the immense realizations of the day. Prayer was offered several times throughout the service, giving thanks only to Jesus Christ. I peeked my eyes open to look around; every man had removed his hat, and every head was bowed. Unlike my former home in California, there were no protests, no calls for ‘fairness’, demanding that
prayer be offered to various other gods. Only Jesus was thanked. Despite the intense heat, it felt as if my soul was drinking a tall glass of iced Sweet Tea. And then two young girls named Hanah and Haylee sang a song that struck me to the core. The song, entitled, ‘God Bless America Again’, is one of the most beautiful, relevant songs I’ve heard in years (ironic since Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty originally performed it in the 1960’s).

Playing guitar, Hanah and Haylee sang: God bless America again You see all the troubles that she's in. Wash her pretty face And dry her eyes and then God bless America again. God I sure to wish you’d bless America again you know, like you did way back when it all began. You blessed her then But we just sort a took it for granted And never did ask again. So just hold her hand God, that's all, And if she should stumble Please don't let her fall.

world, working to un-do all of the good that Jesus Christ brought to our lives. For too long, there has been a steady and deliberate attempt to rid everyone of their spirituality, breaking families apart, and leaving children with no firm foundation to grow upon. What is being offered instead is the infiltration of propaganda coming from television, movies, and music, reinforced by the voices emanating from their cellphones. Evil is very, very real. There will always be war, and illness, and death, and sadness--something I am personally witnessing on a daily basis in my new home in Texas.
You know I don't understand every thing I'm reading' here About what's wrong with America. But when you don't have a lot of book learning' I guess there's a lot of things you don't understand. But let me say this, God, she's like a mother to me And all I am or ever hoped to be I owe to You and to her.
But oh, that light! If you will only open your eyes to see it, it is always there. And this Memorial Day, I was given a beautiful reminder—as God so often does—that despite the darkness trying to creep into our lives, Christ’s love is here, surrounding us, waiting for us, showing us that we can withstand anything if we bring Him into our lives.
So wash her pretty face And dry her eyes and then God bless America again.”
My prayer, like the song, is that God bless America again, and open people’s eyes to the Truth and Light that has been there all along.
What I heard in that lovely, lilting song was a reminder that the talking heads on television are utterly wrong in condemning our entire country over politics. The media should be held accountable for trying to make Americans feel as if they’re on a steady downward spiral. The truth is that these political tennis matches have been going on long before America separated from England and will continue forever more. The much bigger problem we face in America today is the same problem our original “Founding Father” faced in Eden: the “bad guys” are trying to eliminate God from the world, leaving people defenseless against the evil that is always eagerly waiting at the gates. From the start these beings have been trying to douse the Light of the

How Donald continues to take the world by surprise BY MATTHEW SNAPE
PHOTO SOURCE: AP BY EVAN VUCCI
This time last year, the only outcome conceivable from President Trump’s tweets about Kim Jong-un, referring to him as ‘rocket man’ and other unpleasant terms, was war. Hillary Clinton warned during the 2016 general election that Trump could not be trusted with the ‘big red button’ at the White House and that
accusation almost surfaced in 2017. Nonetheless, the President has shocked the world yet again and managed to score himself another decisive foreign policy victory- ending the 70-year stalemate in Korea.
Many commentators disagree with Donald’s methods. No president before him has used Twitter as proactively as he has. It is something that has never been witnessed before in a politician and it has become a useful source for journalists who want the latest information on the President. But his strategy has worked, and one cannot dispute that. The last time a president threatened North Korea was in 2002, when George W. Bush made his ‘axis of evil’ speech to Congress. Yet his intention to eradicate Iraq, Iran and North Korea crumbled after American forces were bogged down in Iraq and Afghanistan. Trump does not have those problems. Iraq and Afghanistan are no longer preoccupying successive American administrations. Obama pulled most American soldiers out of those two nations during his tenure. The current President can focus all his efforts on North Korea. The excessive threats Trump made to North Korea have brought them to the negotiating table, and the results so far have been successful. Kim has committed himself to total disarmament of Pyongyang’s nuclear capabilities. No president has achieved that since the Korean War of 195053. If Kim is true to his word, and there is every reason to suspect he might go back on it, this will go down as the most successful foreign policy achievement of a US president since George H. W. Bush led a successful invasion of Kuwait in 1991. Regardless of which way on the political spectrum one swings, Trump deserves credit for this accomplishment.
PAGE 16
Trump’s harshest critics claim Kim wrapped an inexperienced president round his little thumb. Yet he came close to calling off this historic summit when Pyongyang issued statements insulting the current administration. This took the North Korean leader by total surprise as he invited journalists to witness the destruction of nuclear test facilities. It also brought Kim back to the negotiating table and it worked. The summit continued, and it has been a success. Now that the summit in Singapore is over, there must be more substance behind both sides’ positions. There must be a clear time frame as to when Pyongyang will eradicate all its nuclear weapons. Beijing and Seoul should be consulted by Washington and Pyongyang on the role each nation can also play in this peace process. China has a stake in North Korea. If its regime collapses, North Korean citizens will flee across the Chinese border. There would be pressure on both sides of the Korean peninsula to reunify, and that would be a reunification that would make Germany’s one in 1990 look simple. North Korea is behind the South economically by decades. Reunification is neither side’s best interest for now. And then there is Japan. Will they be approached for a contribution? After all, their border is dangerously close to its former colony. Also, there is the issue of sanctions. How many of them will the US lift in return for denuclearize? From Kim’s perspective, this must be where he plays his cards well. At the age of 34, he is youthful and keen to ensure he is
WWW.CTIMESMAG.COM successful during his days as leader. Who knows what those at the top might do if he is not? He has already done what his father and grandfather failed to do- get Pyongyang to the negotiating table for a peace deal. He has crossed the border to meet South Korea’s President, Moon Jae-in. Economically, though, there is more to achieve. The propaganda streaming from the capital cannot convince most North Koreans forever. This is not a nation full of sunny beaches and teenagers hanging out by pools in the summer, as North Korean propaganda reels made many believe. It is no holiday destination. It is a backward, corrupt country stricken with poverty. It has an appalling human rights record. Many towns look like they haven’t been inhabited for decades. If they knew what capitalism can do for a nation’s ills, especially North Korea’s, the regime would have collapsed decades ago. And even though they don’t, they know nothing different to the hardship they must endure all day. If Kim can get sanctions lifted from the US, it would make a significant difference to many people’s lives. Nonetheless, an easing of sanctions alone won’t solve this country’s problems. An end to communism can do that. There is still much progress to be made before that goal can be achieved. Many say Trump gets along with dictators better than democratic leaders. There is more chemistry between him and Vladimir Putin than there is between Donald and Theresa May, the latter of whom has been accused by the President recently of telling him off ‘like a naughty schoolboy.’ Merkel, Donald Tusk and Jean Claude-Juncker fear that the US administration’s policies could help trigger the end of the European Union, especially since he issued tariffs on EU goods recently. This will have an economic impact on many EU citizens. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau would rather have Obama in charge as relations between Canada and the US have reached an all-time low under their tenures. But maybe that’s why the world needs Donald Trump right now. He has brought a fresh perspective to global politics. Since the 1980s, many have taken the US for granted and even exploited them. China has stolen huge swathes of American industry and exported American goods back to their home country, despite making them there. Many NATO nations have failed to meet their defence spending targets for too long, instead depending on the US to bail them out on every occasion. Love him or loathe him, he is proving you don’t need prior experience in foreign policy to become US president. Perhaps that’s why the US needs a leader with a charm among dictators. Even though Donald has cosied up to Chinese President Xi Jinping, he has also issued tariffs on Chinese goods to demonstrate the US will no longer expect China to rip them off. Russia took advantage of America’s strategic retreat under Obama and Iran laughed at the former president’s dismal attempt to appease them with a pathetic deal. It will be interesting to see how he will approach Iran’s leaders when both nations must enter negotiations to draw up an improved version of the Iran Deal.
PAGE 17 There is much the West can learn from the current President, too. Many Western leaders are led by a spineless political class. Theresa May can muster the strength to fight Putin but cannot grow a spine long enough to tell the EU where to go in the Brexit negotiations. Trudeau, the self-proclaimed ‘male feminist’, is making Canada look like a laughing stock with his embarrassing foreign policy trip to India. The way he put down a female member of an audience for a question-andanswer session with him by correcting her when she used the word ‘mankind’ is appalling. Merkel appears to have learnt nothing from either Brexit or the 2015 migration crisis. It is as if many Western leaders do not understand what the word patriotism means anymore. That is why European conservatives look to America with envy and for leadershipbecause they know they won’t receive that in Europe. These leaders like May and Merkel were quick to criticize Trump when he tore up the Iran Deal, but where was their defence of him when he brought Kim to the negotiating table? The West needs to give the President credit where credit is due. It is time to have faith in what the President is doing. The world’s attention will turn to his summit with Putin next. Can he work the art of the deal with him, like he has with so many other dictators? The two already have an excellent rapport. But one conclusion is clear- Trump has restored America’s place in the world for the first time since George W. Bush was president. Given his success in placing the US Embassy in Jerusalem and in standing up to Putin, Assad and Iran, he has been more successful than Bush and Obama put together in the space of two years. Of course, the Korean peace process may collapse. Now is not the time to jump to the wrong conclusions or to resort to complacency. But Trump has still accomplished something historic and he will (rightfully) earn a place in the history books for this. The President is the man who knows how to master a good deal. Let’s watch him play his cards to full effect and lead the world to a peaceful place. He will restore trust in America’s global leadership that was so badly damaged during the Bush years.

The Relationship Between Israel and The United States of America – Distinctively Unique! BY CHARLES LINGERFELT SENIOR COLOMINIST CTM & REPRESENTATIVE IN TEXAS
Today, the United States and Israel are two of the closest friends and allies in the modern world. Together, they form a unique relationship and bond which is one of the strongest of our present day allies. The continued strength of the this relationship is rooted in the shared values of the two nations, and is built upon the longstanding Judaeo-Christian principles which supercede the history of the past two thousand years. For more than six decades of state-building, the Israelis have looked to the United States for political inspiration, financial help, military assistance and diplomatic support. The Americans, in turn, have viewed Israel with a special appreciation for its successful effort in following the Western democratic tradition, its remarkable economic development, and its
determined struggle against its uncompromising enemies. If we were forced to reduce the explanation for this unique relationship between the United States and Israel to one sentence, it would probably be best expressed by the words of Lyndon B. Johnson, who, when asked by Soviet Premier Aleksei Kosygin why the U.S. supported Israel when there are 80 million Arabs(1964) and only three million Israelis, the President replied simply: "Because it is right." The Jewish Influence in Early America: The mutual admiration between Israel and the United States is hardly a recent phenomenon. The profound influence of Jewish tradition on America's Founding Fathers has been seen in
WWW.CTIMESMAG.COM
the Constitution of the United States. That influence comes as no surprise to anyone, given that John Adams' view expressed in a letter to Thomas Jefferson was: "I will insist that the Hebrews have done more to civilize man than any other nation." According to Woodrow Wilson, the ancient Jewish nation provided a model for the American colonists: Recalling the previous experiences of the colonists in applying the Mosaic Code to the order of their internal life, it is not to be wondered at that the various passages in the Bible that serve to undermine royal authority, stripping the Crown of its cloak of divinity, held up before the pioneer Americans the Hebrew Commonwealth as a model government. In the spirit and essence of our Constitution, the influence of the Hebrew Commonwealth was paramount in that it was not only the highest authority for the principle, "that rebellion to tyrants is in obedience to God," but also because it was in itself a divine precedent for a pure democracy, as distinguished from monarchy, aristocracy or any other form of government. The Jews also contributed directly to the American Revolution. President Calvin Coolidge paid tribute to their role in the War of Independence: "The Jews themselves, of whom a considerable number were already scattered throughout the colonies, were true to the teachings of their prophets. The Jewish faith is predominantly the faith of liberty " One original design for the official Seal for the United States, which was submitted by Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, and John Adams, depicted the Israelites crossing the Red Sea with Pharaoh in pursuit and Moses standing on the other side. The motto was to have been: "Rebellion to Tyrants is Obedience to God." Another seal was chosen, but the Liberty Bell does bear an inscription from the Old Testament:
PAGE 20
"And Proclaim Freedom Throughout The Land Unto All the Inhabitants Thereof" (Leviticus 25:10). Although it took some 2,000 years to resurrect Hebrew as a spoken language in early twentieth century Palestine, Hebrew was actually a prerequisite for early American scholars. Many universities even required it in their curriculum. Hebrew was compulsory at Harvard until 1787 and, to this day, Yale's insignia bears the Hebrew phrase, Urim V'Thummim (oracle learning). America's Support for Zionism: American support for the age-old aspirations of the Jewish people to return to their homeland dates from the Colonial period when John Adams wrote: "I really wish the Jews again in Judea an independent nation for, as I believe, the most enlightened men of it have participated in the amelioration of the philosophy of the age." John Quincy Adams wrote to Major Mordecai Manuel Noah that he believed in the "rebuilding of Judea as an independent nation." Not long after the Emancipation Proclamation, President Abraham Lincoln met a Canadian Christian Zionist, Henry Wentworth Monk, who expressed hope that Jews who were suffering oppression in Russia and Turkey be emancipated "by restoring them to their national home in Palestine." Lincoln said this was "a noble dream and one shared by many Americans." The President said his chiropodist was a Jew who "has so many times ‘put me upon my feet’ that I would have no objection to giving his countrymen ‘a leg up.’" In 1883, Emma Lazarus, the poet whose words are inscribed on the Statue of Liberty, wrote that Palestine should be as "a Home for the Homeless, a Goal for the Wanderer and an Asylum for the persecuted and a nation of the denationalized." In 1891, pogroms incited by Czar Alexander III provoked an outcry by many prominent Americans, including the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court and Speaker of the House. Rev.
William E. Blackstone and Cardinal Gibbons presented a petition signed by those who were concerned about the fate of the Jews in Russia to President Benjamin Harrison and Secretary of State James Blaine. They called for the first international conference "to consider the Israelite claim to Palestine as their ancient home, and to promote in any other just and proper way the alleviation of their suffering condition." Why not give Palestine back to the Jews again? According to God's distribution of nations, it is their home—an inalienable possession from which they were expelled by force. Under their cultivation was a remarkable fruitful land, sustaining millions of Israelite, who industrially tilled the soil on its hillsides and valleys. They were agriculturists and producers - and were the center of civilization and religion. It is my firm belief that this is, and was an appropriate time for all nations, and especially the Christian nations of Europe, to show kindness to Israel...let us now restore to them the land of which they were so cruelly despoiled by our former Roman ancestors. The signatories' idea preceded the first World Zionist Congress that adopted the program to establish a Jewish homeland in Palestine by six years. The Endorsement of the Balfour Declaration: In 1917, Lord Balfour sent a letter to Lord Rothschild, the president of the British Zionist Federation, stating that the British Government would facilitate the establishment of a national home for the Jewish people in Palestine. President Wilson expressed his support for the Balfour Declaration when he stated on March 3, 1919: “The allied nations with the fullest concurrence of our government and people are agreed that in Palestine shall be laid the foundations of a Jewish Commonwealth.” After Wilson left office, his successors expressed similar support for the Zionist enterprise. "It is impossible for one who has studied at all the services of the Hebrew people to avoid the faith that they will one day be restored to their
PAGE 21
historic national home and there enter on a new and yet greater phase of their contribution to the advance of humanity," said President Warren Harding. Calvin Coolidge expressed his "sympathy with the deep and intense longing which finds such fine expression in the Jewish National Homeland in Palestine." "Palestine which, desolate for centuries, is now renewing its youth and vitality through enthusiasm, hard work, and self-sacrifice of the Jewish pioneers who toil there in a spirit of peace and social justice," observed Herbert Hoover. The United States Congress was no less sympathetic to the Zionist objective. One can look back to the joint Congressional resolutions of 1922 and 1944 that unanimously passed an endorsement of the Balfour Declaration. The House Foreign Affairs Committee stated in 1922: “The Jews of America are profoundly interested in establishing a National Home in the ancient land for their race. Indeed, this is the ideal of the Jewish people, everywhere, for, despite their dispersion, Palestine has been the object of their veneration since they were expelled by the Romans. For generations they have prayed for the return to Zion. During the past century this prayer has assumed practical form.” Legislatures in 33 states, representing 85 percent of the population, also adopted resolutions favoring the creation of a Jewish state in Palestine. Governors of 37 states, 54 United States senators, and 250 congressmen signed petitions to the President. The Campaign for the Partitioning: In early 1947, the British, who then administered a League of Nations mandate for Palestine, decided to bring the question of how to resolve the dispute between the Arabs and Jews to the United Nations. The UN General Assembly decided to set up the United Nations Special Committee on Palestine (UNSCOP) to investigate the cause of the conflict in Palestine, and, if possible, devise a solution. UNSCOP, composed of representatives from 11 nations, visited Palestine and found the Jewish community was
WWW.CTIMESMAG.COM
very responsive to its inquiries. The Arabs in Palestine greeted UNSCOP with hostility and refused to cooperate. The Arab Higher Committee boycotted the Commission but demanded that the UN immediately grant Palestine its independence. As one author observed, the contrasting attitudes of Jews and Arabs toward UNSCOP "could not fail to give the impression that the Jews were imbued with the sense of right and were prepared to plead their case before any unbiased tribunal, while the Arabs felt unsure of the justice of their cause, or were afraid to bow to the judgement of the nations." One UNSCOP aide was particularly influential. He was an American named Ralph Bunche. Later Bunche would play a key role in negotiating armistice agreements between Israel and its neighbors following the War of Independence. In 1947, Bunche set up a meeting between two members of UNSCOP and Menachem Begin, the leader of the Irgun Jewish underground. As he was leaving Begin's hideout, Bunche told the future Israeli Prime Minister: "I can understand you. I am also a member of a persecuted minority." Richard Crossman of Britain asked Bunche if his exposure to the Jews had made him anti-Semitic yet." Bunche replied, "That would be impossible - I know the flavor of racial prejudice and racial persecution. A wise Negro can never be an anti-Semite." The majority of the UNSCOP representatives concluded that the question of ownership or right to Palestine was an insoluble autonomy. Rather than try to solve it, they chose the logical alternative of partition, in which both Jews and Arabs would be given sovereignty in their own separate state. The United States endorsed the majority report and called on the General Assembly to approve the partitioning. Some disputes exist among scholars as to how vigorously the Truman Administration lobbied for the resolution. Nevertheless, ample evidence exists today which indicates that U.S. influence played a critical role in securing the adoption of the partition resolution.
PAGE 22
Less than six months later, Israel declared its independence and the United States was the first nation to grant defector recognition to the new Jewish State - 11 minutes after the proclamation. "I had faith in Israel before it was established, I have faith in it now," President Harry Truman said on May 26, 1952. "I believe it has a glorious future before it - not just another sovereign nation, but as an embodiment of the great ideals of our civilization." An Historical Commitment to Israel: The recognition of shared values has been a consistent theme in statements by American Presidents ever since Truman. John F. Kennedy declared: "This nation, from the time of President Woodrow Wilson, has established and continued a tradition of friendship with Israel because we are committed to all free societies that seek a path to peace and honor individual rights. In the prophetic spirit of Zionism all free men today look to a better world and in the experience of Zionism we know that it takes courage and perseverance and dedication to achieve it." Said Lyndon B. Johnson, "The United States and Israel share many common objectives...chief of which is the building of a better world in which every nation can develop its resources and develop them in freedom and peace." The roots of Johnson's feelings, like those of many other Americans came from the Bible. As he explained in a speech before the B'nai B'rith organization: "Most if not all of you have very deep ties with the land and with the people of Israel, as I do, for my Christian faith sprang from yours." The President explained that "the Bible stories are woven into my childhood memories as the gallant struggle of modern Jews to be free of persecution is also woven into our souls." Richard Nixon asserted that the United States stands by its friends and that "Israel is
WWW.CTIMESMAG.COM
PAGE 23
one of its friends." His successor, Gerald R. Ford, reaffirmed his "commitment to the security and future of Israel is based upon basic morality as well as enlightened self-interest. Our role in supporting Israel honors our own heritage."
held values that we, as Americans, share: a culture committed to justice, a land that welcomes the weary, a people devoted to tikkun olam."(Literally, ‘repair of the world.’) Furthermore, "We're going to keep standing with our Israeli friends and allies," he said.
"The United States," Jimmy Carter said, "has a warm and a unique relationship of friendship with Israel that is morally right. It is compatible with our deepest religious convictions, and it is right in terms of America's own strategic interests. We are committed to Israel's security, prosperity, and future as a land that has so much to offer the world." Ronald Reagan was the first President to state explicitly that Israel was a strategic asset to the United States, a belief he expressed even before he was elected: "Only by full appreciation of the critical role the State of Israel plays in our strategic calculus can we build the foundation for thwarting Moscow's designs on territories and resources vital to our security and our national wellbeing." But Reagan also understood this alliance sprang from shared values: "Since the rebirth of the State of Israel, there has been an ironclad bond between that democracy and this one."
While he was on the campaign trail, Donald Trump promised to recognize Jerusalem as the Israeli capital and start plans to move the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.
Shortly after taking office, George H. W. Bush said: "The friendship, the alliance between the United States and Israel is strong and solid, built upon a foundation of shared democratic values, of shared history and heritage, that sustains the life of our two countries. The emotional bond of our people transcends politics. Our strategic cooperation—and I renew today our determination that that go forward— is a source of mutual security. And the United States’ commitment to the security of Israel remains unshakeable. We may differ over some policies from time to time, individual policies, but never over the principle." Bill Clinton took the relationship to another level during his administration. "Our relationship would never vary from its allegiance to the shared values, the shared religious heritage, the shared democratic politics which have made the relationship between the United States and Israel a special—even on occasion a wonderful—relationship." After assuming the presidency, George W. Bush echoed the sentiments of nearly every President that came before him. "We will speak up for our principles and we will stand up for our friends in the world," Bush said. "And one of our most important friends in the world is the State of Israel." Barack Obama stated that "we [America] stand with Israel as a Jewish democratic state because we know that Israel is born of firmly
On December 6, 2017, he made good on that promise. On December 6, 2017, President Donald Trump signed a declaration which said, “We finally acknowledge the obvious: that Jerusalem is Israel’s capital.” In doing so, he overturned the traditional evasion of US presidents of Congress’s 1995 decision to transfer the US embassy to Jerusalem. Trump went on to say: “This decision is not intended, in any way, to reflect a departure from our strong commitment to facilitate a lasting peace agreement…The United States remains deeply committed to helping facilitate a peace agreement that is acceptable to both sides.” The Jewish population in the United States is less than six million; therefore, the political activity of Jews who view strengthening U.S.-Israel relations to be in the national interest alone cannot explain the depth of the friendship that exists. Fewer than 2 percent of the population could hardly have such a dramatic influence on American foreign policy. The U.S.-Israel alliance is as firm today as it has ever been – because It is “rooted in our shared values" of the JudaeoChristian relationship with our dear friends in The Middle East - the people and nation of Israel.

Celebrating Our Manhood By Steve Lacroix
“Born to Be a Man – Called to Be a Father”
June is one of the busiest months of the year for honoring people and celebrating accomplishments. This is the month where you never have enough days in it for having parties to celebrate graduations, weddings, summer picnics, beach parties and other cultural festivities. It’s the month when we kickoff the return of summer with warmer days accompanied by longer days of sunlight. The moods of people change for the better as everybody gets into the summer party mode as well as preparing for their summer vacation. One day that stands out among the rest of the special days we celebrate this month is Father’s Day, which is celebrated on the second Sunday in June. I know this special day is not celebrated across the globe but I am taking time in this month’s column to devote it to honoring fathers and their manhood. Even if you’re not a father, you are a man and I celebrate and honor you for being the man you are. Being born a male is God’s choice for you at birth, becoming a man is your choice. You were born a male but then in time you were molded into a man. Becoming a father is a special calling you choose to take on with God’s divine help. God has equipped you to be a man and he has bestowed upon you certain gifts that enable you to wear the mantle of a father. Being a father is an added bonus that takes you into another whole different level of manhood. There is no perfect man on this earth except for Jesus. Everyone has a different perception and perspective of what a man should be as well as what he should look like. You don’t have to look very far to see all the different versions of men walking all around this world. God didn’t create us to be robots but he did create us to be human beings born in his image and fashioned into his likeness. The mystery question that remains then is this. If God made us all in his image and likeness then why do we all look so different? The only answer I can come up with that makes any sense at all is this; God definitely has a sense of humor and that’s His way of proving it.
We have all had some type of role model in our lives that have helped shape us into the man we are today. If you are among the fortunate ones who have had many role models in your life then consider yourself a very blessed man because of them. God also left us with many role models in the bible besides His own Son. God hand-picked each one of these role models in the bible in order to give you a wide variety to choose from. These men are gifts from God that He gave to you so they could leave a part of themselves in you. The best part is you get to choose which of these gifts you need in order to become the multi-faceted man God designed you to be. We also play a huge role and have a big responsibility in this world to help mold the young men in our world into becoming the future man God designed them to be. Don’t take this responsibility lightly for someone is always watching you that you may not even be aware of. No matter where you are in life, you have something to impart into the lives of others around you. You are never too old to stop teaching and never too young to stop learning. You are God’s gift to someone everyday, and everyday you are on assignment to be a special gift to someone. Keep looking for those God-ordained opportunities everyday to make a difference in the life of someone. In so doing, you will have walked with God and become the miracle to someone’s answer. These are those special moments that I like to call “God kisses”, when God reaches down to earth through you to plant a kiss on someone that needs His love today. I will be the first one to admit that being a man in today’s world is not easy and never has been. Just ask all the women who have had to fill in the gap when men have decided to abdicate their role and let the women do it all. Our jails are overflowing with men that chose to abdicate their role or decided to do it differently then what God designed it to be.

Fatherless children are at an all-time high and now going into its third generation. Why do the children and women have to suffer and bear the consequences of the man’s poor choices? What drives a man to the point in life where they choose to live life differently by bringing harm and destruction into the lives of others? Hurting people hurt people and that my friend is the bottom line. Men have caused a lot of damage in this world especially towards the females and children. There would be no slavery, child pornography, prostitution, rapes, racial injustices, sex trafficking, wars, gangs, drugs, and the list goes on and on, if men had not abdicated their role for a different life. The leaders of today and the changing role of the women are the results of the men of yesterday and yesteryear. We cannot undo the mistakes of the past and we all have made plenty of them, but we can learn from them to help change the future and make the world a better place for everyone to live in. So then why is it the man that is the main target of Satan’s attacks to kill, defeat and destroy? The only logical reason is that we come from the Seed of God and the seed to produce mankind comes through the loins of a man and not a woman. Ever since the beginning of time the man was earmarked to be attacked starting in the Garden. All through the bible you see the man being attacked. King Herod wanted all the male babies killed. The stories of Cain and Abel, Joseph and his brothers, Esau and Jacob, David and his brothers, and the list goes on and on throughout generations. If Satan can kill the man then he kills his seed and the future of all mankind. Without the seed from a man a woman cannot produce children and populate the earth. Satan will use the man’s weakest link as part of his strategy to attack him. Each man has his own thorn in the flesh to deal with and Satan has a strategy for each one. A man’s main sinful nature will be one of these three issues: the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. I call them the three G’s: Girls, Glory and Gold or sex, money, and ego. One of these three will be your dominant sinful nature and the other two will come along for a free ride. We all have to deal with our sinful nature or it becomes a wild beast. No sin is bigger or greater in the eyes of God for sin is sin no matter what type it is. As we know from what it says in the bible “the wages of sin is death”, so living a sinful undisciplined life will bring you to your grave ahead of your time. Too many men have misused their gifts to “bless” people while destroying the lives of others in the same process. That is being deceitful and manipulative while abusing your authority and power. This is the oldest trick in the book used by Satan himself starting in the Garden with the apple and Eve. Through God’s grace a man is given the ability to discipline himself

so he can rule and reign with his God-given authority the way God created him to be. God has gifted you with these attributes and characteristics in order to be a blessing to his children and your family. God has placed His mantle upon you and chosen you to be the man that he needs to work through to impact lives and change the world. Will you listen and obey or will you walk away? God tells us in His Word “to whom much is given much is required”. You cannot do this alone so God in His loving goodness gave you His Son and the Holy Spirit to help you. You have everything you need to run your race until you reach the finish line that we can never see. When the time draws near the finish line will become clear. That’s when it’s your turn to do the hand off and pass your baton to the one taking your place. In so doing never forget the most important part of this transition, giving them your blessing. Your words carry power and life and this is your time to leave your blessing into the lives of those you are leaving behind. The mantle was placed upon you by God Himself and now it’s your turn to place the mantle on the one God chose to follow after you. One every gravestone is the year you are born and the year you die with a dash between the two years. Your life and legacy is all about what you do with the dash between those two years. It’s a short span of time during eternity, but it’s the most important time of your life, don’t take it lightly. Make everyday count no matter what stage of life you are in. God made the best when He made you. God loves you just the way you are and being you brings a smile to His face too!!! Keep celebrating the man God made you to be for God is celebrating you too through the lives of others around you. Happy Father’s Day 2018!!

Thoughts for Father’s Day By Christopher Grahn Howard
As we approach Father’s Day I wanted to share some thoughts, concerns, and hopes. As I look at many social media sites there is a recurrent theme. There are many links to things like – “50 things every man should own, 20 books every young man should read and 50 rules for being a gentleman” The message is clear, society acknowledges we are not training real men anymore. I am not suggesting some macho he-man thought process. What we need is a full understanding of what good, real and Godly manhood looks like. How do men become strong men and thus good fathers? How do we develop strong sons…and daughters? In this modern feminist world, men are under

Being a real man is not the same as being an adult male. There is also little doubt that plenty of poorly raised men have caused much pain and the attack on manhood. Building better men will lead to better fathers. What prevents this type of toxic manhood? Lack of two things; good fathers and God.

I wrote an article last year about my personal story, I will be brief here. My father was a violent drunk, a coward and he died as he lived…the same. To be fair he became sober and was not violent but was a cheat and a coward. He left when I was seven years old and never came back. Talked on the phone with him five times after that. The last being right after I was married. I even invited him to the wedding, he would not come. He never met his grandchildren… that was his choice. So very sad. I learned to be the opposite of him and hoped I would become a good father to my children. Being a good father became my heart’s desire. My children will be the judge of my success or failure. I pray I measure up. I mention this because children need fathers, boys and girls alike. Positive role models, both Moms, and Dads are important. As a father, I want what most fathers want, the best possible lives for my children. How does a father be the role model, the head of the family, and teach his children? As a Christian the first step is to submit to God, to bend a knee and pray. Pray for his wife, his children and for himself. The danger in this discussion is that too often it leads to bad stereotypes of what manhood is. A father’s duty is to train a child in the way of the Lord and to support, develop and lead the best children he can. What does that look like? First, being a good husband. Being as Christ demanded that husbands love their wives as he loves the church. Having your children, boys and girls, see a father truly love their mother is a strong example and powerful image. Demonstrating the unconditional love and sacrifice for a child’s mother will make a lasting impression. As a man, you must see that there are all kinds of strength. Love, the ability to demonstrate love and affection, and respect for one’s spouse will set another powerful example. I will insert a couple of rules of marriage I believe in and that also work for children. Yes, I fail at these as well, but I try. 1. Just because you can…does not mean you should. 2. Just because you can’t…does not mean you shouldn’t try. 3. There will be no yelling…EVER...unless it is a true emergency. 4. Communicate…Communicate and when in doubt COMMUNICATE. 5. Never ever let a day start without hugs and kisses…EVER. Yes, I do not care how old my kids get.
The best part of everyday is a kiss from my wife. 6.We are a team, it is us against the world. Members of the team have to contribute, have to participate and have to be strong. Building this strength matters, you can’t help another member of the family if you are weak. We all have our weaknesses, we all need to help each other with them. These things are a benefit to children and will benefit your marriage. Second, fathers teach risk. That’s right, risk taking is a part of life and fathers teach this best. Men and women are different, I know it is a loaded stamen in these times. But, hand a young child to any woman and they will hold them close and snuggle them. Hand that same child to a man and they will toss them in the air or tickle them or wrestle with them. You get the idea. Girls or boys both need strong fathers, need strong male role models and need the positive example of each. The societal expectations often set us up to fail. The wrong image of some TV special father with a wellpaying job and always does the right thing…is a lie. We all lose our temper, few are rich and can provide anything and most of all, we all make mistakes. Believe it or not, our children need to see how we react to these situations. The most powerful thing a father can do…is honestly apologize to their child. The example of how we react to our own sins, failures and hard situations becomes the example your children will follow. When you sin, fail and struggle gives you the best opportunity to be the best example for your children. The damage was done in our society from broken families and broken-spirited children are devastating. We have full generations of children staring into the “abyss” and full of desperation. Suicide rates and youth violence are soaring. Yes, there are many factors, many causes. Missing, broken and absentee fathers are a leading among them. Nothing I have written here should be construed as against women. I believe we can and should celebrate both. Contrary to liberal belief, there is not a limit on the amount of building up, celebrating or advancing that can be accomplished between the sexes. There need not be such a war between the sexes. Most of all, this does not help our children find themselves. Strong children, strong communities and strong societies need both strong mothers and fathers.

You Be the Judge By By Pastor David Colbert
In recent days President Trump has embarked on a mission to install more conservative Federal Judges. He has been successful so far filling 9 out of 15 federal appeals court justices. There are many more federal judiciary nominees pending. The reason why the appeals court is so important is because they are responsible for setting presidencies on many important issues facing our nation today. I pray that President Trump is able to get many more conservative federal judges approved for their appointments to our federal courts in general. I am excited about this Presidency because since Mr. Trump has taken office we have seen him actually working, not on continuous vacation as have been the norm for many former Presidents. I am pleased to see our government in action. The Trump Administration getting things done, not just putting out fires of things left unattended to.We need federal judges that will not ignore our constitution, but help to enforce it. Over the last several years and the previous Administration under President Obama appeared to showan obvious disregard and contempt for our Constitutional Laws that he was appointed by the American people to uphold. Don’t get me wrong, the past administration did accomplish some good during their term, but did very little in my opinion to change this country’s overall issues and problems.
I was a little confused by the Obama Administration, because it seemed to me that they hated capitalism in this capitalist nation. I am not picking on that administration, but the Democrats are always talking about the poor in this nation and pocketing our taxes through their constant raising of them. I am glad we now have a business man in the White House instead of a Lawyer. I am looking forward in the coming years to offering my opinions, perceptions and thoughts on the Trump Administration and on current events going on in this Great Nation. I am a descendant of the Jewish people and i am excited to have witnessed Jerusalem finally being recognized as the Capitol of Israel by President Trump. This action was long overdue. Previous presidents have talked about moving our US Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem but failed to follow through. We thank you President Trump for finally helping to bring it to past. My ancestry is directly related to the Jews in Ethiopia. My great grandfather was a Jewish Rabbi from Ethiopia. That is my heritage and I am proud of it. In the coming years we are going to see God’s plan for the land of Israel continue to unfold. There are going to be challenges to this move, but I believe it was the right thing to do for the US and Israel as allies.

In the world today it is paramount that our government do things God’s way, because I believe this world’s time is growing short. Jesus will be returning soon. I don’t know when, but the times and the seasons are at hand. President Trump like any man is not perfect and I do not agree with everything he says and does, but I respect him as our Commander and Chief. God bless our President Donald Trump and God bless this Great Nation of America. I would like to thank Anil Anwar, President/CEO of Christian Times Magazine for the opportunity to express my views and opinions in this great conservative political and inspirational magazine. I would like to offer my condolences to the Bush family on the loss of their Matriarch Former First Lady Barbara Bush. I know how it is to lose Mom. It is very difficult. May God bless you Former President George H.W. Bush and your family…. I would also like offer condolences to those family members and friends who loss love ones in the Santa Fe High School shooting here in the Houston area and others like it in this nation. I know that every time these shootings happen the gun control advocates pop up. I have this last thing I would like to say to them. Gun control is not the answer. God Is! I amPastor David Colbert saying Let Go and Let God.

Marriage Was Created By God: Not By Man! By Pastor Evangelist Arthur L. Weathersby
Marriage is that great relationship God established for mankind when He first created them in Genesis 2nd Chapter. In Genesis 2:18 The Word of God states in The Amplified Bible; “Now The Lord God said, it is not good that the man should be alone; I will make a him a helper meet (suitable, adapted, complimentary) for him.
So, you can clearly see that God realized that a man would need help. Help for what you might ask? To fulfill the purpose He designed for mankind (male and female)! Genesis 1:26-28 in the same Amplified Bible you find these words of God; “26 – God said, Let us {Father, Son and Holy Spirit] make mankind in Our Image, after our likeness, and let them have complete authority over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the [tame] beasts, and over all of the earth, and over everything that creeps upon the earth. 27 – So God created man in His own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 – And God blessed them and said to them, be fruitful, multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it [using all its vast resources in the service of God and man]; and have dominion over every living creature that moves upon the earth.
Then in Genesis 2:20-24, the marriage model was brought to fruition by God to fulfill His purpose. “20 – And Adam gave names to all the livestock and to the birds of the air and to every [wild] beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found a helper meet 9 suitable, adapted, complimentary) for him. 21 – And The Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam; and while he slept, He took one of his ribs or a part of his side and closed up the [place with] flesh. 22 – And the rib or part of his side which the Lord God had taken from the man He built up and made into a woman, and He brought her to the man. 23 – Then Adam said, this [creature] is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of the man. 24 – Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and shall become united and cleave to his wife, and they shall become one flesh. As you can clearly see, The Word of God records how the marital relationship was established and to who it pertains to; the union of a man to a woman! Society or mankind if you will, has decided that they would update or revise God's model. Same sex marriages are being established all over the world and those responsible for establishing man's law [as opposed to God's Law as established by The Bible]
PAGE 35
CTM ISSUE NO. 19 | JUNE 2018
have some how concluded that God's model is no longer relevant! Well, I'm here to tell you today that God's Word is indeed relevant as He states in Hebrews 13:8 from The Amplified Bible as follows; “Jesus Christ {the Messiah) is [always] the same, yesterday, today, [yes] and forever 9to the ages). To correlate The Bible with Jesus Christ you will find these words recorded in John 1:1-3 same Amplified Bible; “1 – In the beginning [before all time] was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself. 2 – He was present originally with God. 3 – All things were made and came into existence through Him; and without Him was not even one thing made that has come into being. So, as we progress into this 21st century as Believers in The Lord Jesus Christ; we ,must take a stance against that which we know is wrong! In Isaiah 53:1 from the Amplified Bible, the only question we have is; “Who has believed (trusted in, relied upon, and clung to) our message [of that which was revealed to us]? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been disclosed. There is no doubt that, “Marriage Was Created By God: Not Man” therefore, whose plan are you following?

Jesus became Sin To Save You By Dan Brien
Praise God!
Thanks be to God for his love, and the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross. You see, as our Lord was hanging their, just minutes before his death, he took the sins of the world upon himself. He became every sinner who ever lived, the worst criminal, the most violent murderer, and the greatest sex offender, to make us new creatures, transforming us from evil to good, and from sin to righteousness, so we might become children of the living God. 2 Corinthians 5:21 God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. Man is evil by nature. Hell is reserved for sinners, not just their sins. Therefore, forgiving man’s sin wasn’t enough, Jesus changed man’s identity completely. 2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, is anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! Jesus Won the Victory Satan has the inhabitants of this world bound to sin, and blinded their eyes by his trickery. His tactics succeed because he takes advantage of our sinful nature through those lies. Man’s earthly nature is rebellious against God. The moment God commands us to do good, our sinful nature rises up to say NO! That’s why, ”The moment you tell somebody not to do something, that’s when they want to do it”. So when God says do good, Satan comes along and tells us NO! It’s not true, and we believe him. So he convinces us to disobey God. But Jesus overcame sin by a sinless life… to bring us to god. Roman’s 7:9 -10 Once I was alive apart from law; but when the command came, sin sprang to life and I died. 10 I found that the very command that was intended to bring life actually brought death.
1 Corinthians 15:55-57 “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” 56The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore rejoice! Dear brothers and sisters for so great a salvation. You’re a child of God now. Adopted into His family, So --- Rejoice always, pray continually, and give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1Thes 5:16
Yours In Christ – Dan Brien
