GUN CONTROL? CRIMINALS CAN CONTINUE TO HURT OTHERS EVEN WITHOUT LEGALLY OWNING GUNS

Yet another mass shooting in America. A sad and troubling event. I am a Christian Conservative and if you have read any of my previous articles you already know that. My heart breaks for the families and students who have gone through this tragic event. Such a waste of our youth and the burdens that will follow for the families and friends. Despite the ridicule and mocking from liberals. I do pray for those involved, all of them. The real question remains, what can be done to prevent these types of tragedies from happening in the future? There are so many facets to this concern. As I stated in a previous article I have an idea... If banning works.... Let’s ban theft, let's ban bigotry, let's ban violence, let’s ban murder, and let’s ban rape, incest, abuse…. If only banning worked! How about we admit that it is all a head and heart problem? How about looking at the root causes of sin and defilement? The problem with banning the tools of sin is that it never

addresses the desire to sin. America banned alcohol through the Volstead Act. We all know how well that worked out. That act of banning alcohol created more criminals and more criminal empires. Secularists would have you believe that if we just eliminated the tools of sin/crime there would be much less of it. As if somehow a lack of firearms would have prevented Cain from killing Abel… Oh wait, that was a rock. How do we ban rocks? The reason for this is that secularists can only look at what is outside of the heart, the external. Looking internal, into the heart of a person requires an extreme challenge to the secularist who believes that people are inherently good. One of my favorite movie quotes –“The greatest trick the Devil ever played, was convincing people that he did not exist.” My friends, Evil exists and has an author. Evil has a name. To deny that is to be trapped in the abyss of human secularists. An abyss with no hope beyond yourself,

no faith beyond yourself and no standard on which to stand beyond yourself. That philosophy will lead to tyranny and despair every time. Clearly, I believe this is a matter of the heart, a broken and despairing heart. A person committing mass murder is either a terrorist, not often the case or a person wanting to die. Despair and isolation are the breeding ground for these broken people. They are mentally ill, they are in the pit of nothingness and they feel alone with no hope. They may even believe they are doing a good thing by taking others out of this misery with them. How do people get to this hellish place? There are many outward ways. Yet, all come back to being outside of the glory of God. If they knew they were loved, were valued by the ultimate creator, were made in his image and if they understood they mattered to that creator…there would not be the despair, loneliness, misery, and fear. Yes, I know it is easy to say and hard to believe for many. Many things in life are very simple and yet very hard to do. Life is not easy. Yet, life has great joy, great opportunity, and great hope. For those who commit these acts of violence, they are in a hell on earth. I believe that hell is misery, despair and extreme isolation here in this present. I cannot imagine the eternal version. Fear is the air they breathe. If that is how they feel while alive, why go on? I get that. How do we keep people from getting to that awful place? The same way we prevent them from going to spiritual hell. Love, grace, and God. Killing is a heart problem. No matter the tool. Liberals are not willing to have a conversation about the heart. This is because to do so would require bringing God into the conversation. They fear this more than guns.

Additionally, these school shootings, in particular, are committed by young boys. Mostly from broken homes. They are the lost boys. Lost to what they should be, could be and we want them to be. Their family has failed them, their school has failed them and society has failed them. We all must step up and look out for, be there for and assist these lost boys. We are doing this for the girls of our society more and more. We can do this for the boys as well. I am not, NOT, blaming the efforts to help young girls, they do not need to be mutually exclusive. Broken boys, without a strong sense of what a positive masculine identity looks like will continue on the path of anger and despair. To some degree, we are all to blame in our communities when these things happen. Instead, we blame guns because that is easier and we are often lazy or just don’t care enough. Generally, I believe in gun control, just not

what you are thinking of. I believe that anyone who owns a gun should know how to use it properly and yes even be trained. I believe that a gun owner is responsible for that weapon and how it is used. I believe in proper background checks, which are in place now – even stronger ones, for those purchasing a gun. I believe in the right of every eligible American to own a gun, any gun they want to bear the responsibility for owning. I also, no joking, believe that gun control requires using two hands, a good stance and hitting the target. The question from liberals is why can’t we have a reasonable debate on guns? Why? The reason is that the power left has used a hyper-hyperbole on this topic. Look at Face Book and read the seething anger, the irrational frustration, the name calling and attacks. To the liberals, I say this…We, conservatives do not trust you! There are good reasons for this. First, your anger. Every responsible gun owner would come to you and ask for your

guns until you calmed down. We are certainly not going to give them up for you when you are so clearly angry. We know you are addressing a symptom and not the problem. There is a reason we do not trust the government, look how the IRS was used by liberals to attack conservatives. In Missouri, a liberal Democrat governor violated state law by turning over the concealed carry registry over to the federal government, without a subpoena or other court order. Liberals want to have stronger mental health checks in the approval process. While I want to agree, they believe that anyone who wants a gun is mentally ill. The greatest impediment to trust is the hypocrisy of the arguments. “If only on a life is saved it is worth it…” How many children are slaughtered by abortion? How many people are murdered by illegal

aliens in gangs? (Not all or even most are in this category but clearly, there are enough to be relevant.) How many times do we take away the rights of law-abiding citizens in the name of this expediency? Too often! The time has come to have the deeper conversations and the tougher actions that will repair our culture. First, please use the real facts and not some garbage that makes you feel better from social media…this goes for conservatives as well. AR does not mean assault rifle…semi-automatic means one shot will be fired for each trigger pull…not more even with a bump stock. I think bump stocks are silly and not for serious shooters as they make the weapon wildly inaccurate. Oddly enough most American mass shooters are liberal Democrats who are angry….not conservatives. I often think Democrats are projecting when they call out “angry white men”. The biggest problem with liberal gun control is

that it relies on government to make it work. Here we are at the altar of the liberal god. Fact: the Florida shooter could have been stopped, several

layers of government failed! Even the vaunted FBI failed. They have admitted so. This is not even the first time. Five times in total since 2009. Add to that the Texas church shooter that the Air Force failed to fix his records so that he could purchase a weapon that he should never have had access. In almost every case the shooter broke existing gun laws and/or was not stopped by the government when there was clear cause to do so. You want us to trust the government and yet, they have failed what responsibility they have been given already. Why give them more? If liberals want to have this reasonable conversation, they must prove to be rational and not angry. Second, gun ownership is a constitutional right, accept it and let’s look at other solutions. Compromise is a two-way street. What do we do? Where do we go from here? Repairing our culture is a major priority. I do not infer we go backward on human rights, civil rights or any of the other advances we have made against racism or sexism. However, the American way of self-reliance, independence and, personal responsibility. When I was in college there were many students who had issues, had anger issues even. On any given day there were those who were drunk, stoned or even both. Yet, on any given day in the parking lots behind the dorms, there were dozens of rifles in cars and trucks, unlocked and the weapon visible. Not once a shooting. If there had been, the students would have neutralized the threat before the local police could have even arrived. That is no insult to the police. We need to work on our sons and daughters. We need to make sure their hearts are whole, as much as possible. Banning guns is a failed attempt at

avoiding the internal heart of the matter. In addition to making the effort to restoring the hearts and minds of our youth, God is our answer. The love of our Lord is what we need to fix the internal heart and or souls. Killing is a heart issue. The Bible tells us we cannot know what is in the heart of people. However, there always indicators as to the heart of a person. Gun violence like all other violence is a heart problem. A gun is a tool like a hammer. You can take a gun, lay it down and leave it sitâ&#x20AC;Śit will do nothing on its own. The same is not true for the hearts and minds of our people. We need challenge, discipline and most of all purpose. The meaning of life is to fulfill the need to be a part of something greater than oneâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s self, something permanent. Nothing fits that more than a relationship with our Lord and Savior. That is how we repair our society. America is still a Christian nation.

IS ABORTION A SIN? By Cheryl Rozema It’s a day that’s supposed to make us think of love- that day of the year where Hallmark does its most brisk business, and the one day of the year we can see long lines at the supermarket florist counter for the desperate, last-minute romantic. Was there any reason to think that this year, Valentine’s Day would be vastly different? That thoughts of chocolate hearts would turn to broken hearts? As the end of another school day approached in Parkland, Florida, and students were thinking of the coming excitement of young love, the air was suddenly shattered by the sound of rapid gunfire.

Panic ensued, and the next six minutes embodied hell on Earth. By the time the shooting stopped, 17 people lay dead on the ground, with many more wounded. The overwhelming number of losses were students, with 17 families now knowing the pain and sorrow that comes with the loss of a child, and a nation that also feels their pain and mourns alongside them.

Indeed, the loss of these 17 souls is beyond tragic, and the subsequent outrage by many in the aftermath is entirely understandable. However, on this very same day, another tragedy of enormous proportions was occurring. It is doubtful you remember it, and very unlikely it was cov-ered by the media. I am referring to the approximately 3315 abortions that occur in the United States every single day; a silent genocide that terminates 1.21 million (2005) pregnancies per year in America.

To date, the CDC reports we have aborted approximately 58,586,256 million babies in the United States (2015), since the Supreme Court handed down its landmark decision on Roe v. Wade in 1973. President Trump went on in his remarks to specifically mention the importance of faith and religion in public life 19 times – not counting references to the idea by other terms. He quoted George Washington in noting “that ‘religion and morality are indispensable’ to America’s happiness, really, prosperity and totally to its success. It is our faith and our values that inspires us to give with charity, to act with courage, and to sacrifice for what we know is right.” The president observed that the “American Founders invoked our Creator four times in the Declaration of Independence,” and “Benjamin Franklin reminded his colleagues at the Constitutional Convention to begin by bowing their heads in prayer.” One of these other areas of religious freedom is the Middle East. As the president recognized, ISIS has “ruthlessly slaughtered innocent Christians, and other religious minorities.” One thing the liberal media, will not tell you is Trump has declared an all out war on ISIS and has diminished their numbers greatly.

THE WEEKEND THAT CHANGED THE WORLD FOREVER “THE BATTLE OF A LIFETIME – THE CELEBRATION THAT NEVER ENDS” By Steve Lacroix How many weekends during your lifetime has your life been drastically changed by an unexpected occurrence of natural events? Maybe you were located in part of the world that may have experienced a few sudden unexpected natural disasters such as a blizzard, hurricane, earthquake, or tsunami brought on by the wrath of “Mother Nature”. Or you might have been somewhere when all of a sudden bang the carpet gets pulled out from underneath you by the death of a spouse or someone you loved very dearly and your left reeling in pain with many forms of highly-energized emotions. Either way in all these different scenarios you likely experienced a deep intensive negative lifechanging event that impacted your life and altered the course of your destiny. On the other hand, most of us may have witnessed a few beautiful expected events that could possibly have occurred during the weekend that positively changed the course of our lives forever. The three life-changing events that I can think of pretty quickly that could possibly accomplish this would be the weekend you got married, or the weekend your child was born, or the weekend you became born-again in the house of God. In all of these different scenarios your life was drastically changed and impacted you one way or the other. Some of these events we orchestrated and others we had no control over how they manifested themselves into our lives. Either way these life-changing events helped shaped you into the person you are today. Our God does have a sense of humor and when you least expect your comfortable life to be changed, God steps in and interrupts your little world with these mind-boggling events that turn your world upside down and puts you on a different course. You had a nice comfy ride going on in your life then “life happened” and you find yourself tossed out of your comfort zone and going down a road you never expected to travel. You were perfectly happy and content with the way your life was going and then God did a “course-correction” and put you into a different lane on your highway to heaven.

By the time you are reading this article Christians, Jews, believers and non-believers from around the world will be preparing to celebrate Passover and Easter, one of the holiest times of the year that both occur during the last weekend of this month. As we take the time to honor and celebrate these two events in our own traditional and nontraditional ways lets pause to remember what took

So here we are gathered together around a table in a quiet room wondering why Jesus called us all together for such a time as this. None of us knew what was going to take place but being with Jesus was something we all enjoyed. We knew we were here to celebrate the Passover with Jesus but something was different the way this night was going. On this night we would see a side of Jesus we never knew.

Jesus the Servant Leader: As this night progressed Jesus showed us the true meaning of being a Servant Leader. Jesus humbled himself by taking on the role of a servant and ministered to us in many different ways as the evening went on. Before the Passover meal began Jesus took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his

his waist and prepared to do something we never experienced before with him. Jesus found a basin, poured water into it and began the humbling experience of washing our dirty feet and then drying them with the towel he had wrapped around his waist. No one has ever done this to us before so why tonight? Jesus knew that answer and soon we would all find that out too in our own way. After Jesus washed our feet he put his robe back on and sat at the table with us again. At this time Jesus shared the Passover meal with us by serving us the elements of bread and wine and praying fervently about each element. None of us knew the importance this meal would have in our lives or how these elements became so holy as they both represented His life. The breaking of the bread and drinking of the wine became a monumental moment in History (His Story) that continues to be honored and replicated throughout the world.

Jesus the Teacher/Minister/Friend: As we all participated in this special Passover meal, Jesus looked at all of us and ministered to us by telling us things that were to happen that we could not comprehend. He told us he would be betrayed by one of us and one of us would deny him also. As He was ministering to us about many things he also called us His friends and prayed for us that we would not be blind or afraid of things to come in the very near future. He then taught us about a promise and a gift that we could not see but we would receive one day in the future. He taught us about being given the gift of the Holy Spirit and the promises of the role the Holy Spirit would fulfill in our lives. So many words said to us to from the man who now called us his friends. We weren’t just apostles anymore for Jesus had taken us into his inner circle of dear friends. The night was over and we were all left astonished and overwhelmed by what we had experienced during these past few hours together. We had never celebrated the Passover meal in this way before. Jesus had now begun a new thing in us that changed the way we celebrated this special Passover meal forever again in our lives. After the Passover meal was complete Jesus took us to the Garden of Gethsemane where He went out to pray. We tried to stay awake but we couldn’t help but fall asleep. We missed an opportunity to be with Jesus during his intimate moment of prayer with His Father. Maybe it was meant to be that way after all, for God wanted some intimate time alone with His Son before His world would betray him and crucify him to death.

We all crave for those moments of intimacy with the one we love so dear when we know they are getting ready to take their last breath and leave our life empty and our hearts broken. Jesus wanted that time alone also with His Father before His world would come crashing down on him in ways he didn’t expect either. If God wanted this special time with His Son and Jesus wanted this intimate time with His Father, then we too crave for those same special sacred moments with our children and parents too.

The Battle of a Lifetime: Here we are still in the Garden and now it’s Friday already. Here they come out of nowhere all these manly soldiers dressed in their regal attire to arrest our Jesus and take him away. One of our own is with them to identify Jesus as the man they are looking for to take away and bring before the authorities. Jesus didn’t fight them, as one of us tried to do and failed at it. He just stayed humbled and calm while performing another miracle of healing the soldier’s ear before they took him away. This day has begun unlike any other day with our friend Jesus, and yet what was to take place was still a mystery to all of us standing there. How would this day ever end when it started out like this? What do we do now? Do we leave our friend now in his greatest time of need because of fear or do we stay standing strong by his side unafraid of what is yet to be? Are we moved by fear or are we moved by faith? You know who your real friends are when you are facing

knowing what to expect or how its going to end. Now here’s our friend Jesus facing a battle he never intended to fight. He’s being humiliated, falsely accused, and interrogated like a hardened criminal privately before the authorities and publicly before the world to see. One of us denies it three times that we even know him. He’s treated like a criminal and found guilty with no cause all because of people’s different perceptions on how they see and perceive things in their own mind. If these type of things happened to Jesus, why are we so surprised when it happens to us? It’s all about jealousy and perception…common lies from the devil himself. What did God do during all of this? How would you react when this happens to your child, what would you do? These are questions that have no right or wrong answers and are still mysteries until you experience them. We know God sent another man to help carry the heavy cross laid upon Jesus’s back

For you are his highlyfavored and cherished child, a child of the Most High King. God loves you too much to hurt you and He will not let you carry your cross alone. Always remember God will hide you in darkness before He reveals you to the world as a new creature.

loss to some but to God it was the sweetest tasting battle that wasn’t over yet. Though there is no written account of how the final battle took place during those dark hours when Jesus left this world to fight Satan himself and set the captives free. We know the end result but how long the battle lasted and what was involved during this battle will always be a mystery to mankind. We know what God is capable of doing by just speaking the word to create things and change things. We have read about the many miracles performed during the life of Jesus and have seen miracles in our own lives too. So I am going out on a limb to share my perspective of how this battle took place so go along for a moment on this ride with me. Jesus didn’t need 3 days to accomplish the final leg of this battle. He didn’t need God to command Satan to go away. Jesus is God in the form of man so He took all His God-given authority into hell and in one swift move took the keys away from Satan and set all the captives free. That’s how the God I know and serve operates in this world, fast and swiftly creating life-changing results winning every battle he faced. Now let the victory celebration begin!!

much more important to them than what was on the outside. They were a good Christian family whose home was always filled with much love and laughter. He had enjoyed more than one supper with them, telling stories and cracking jokes. As he came to the doorway he was met by the girl’s parents who welcomed him in warmly. After the shaking of hands and hugs, he removed his coat. Then they guided him upstairs to the little girl’s room. Before he even reached her, he could hear the loud sounds of her coughing. Entering her room he could tell just from the way she looked that she was feeling very unwell. Opening his bag he took out his thermometer and placed it in her mouth. When the reading was complete it showed 102 degrees, not a good sign at all. Getting out his stethoscope he placed it on her chest and listened to her heart beat which was good and solid. Then he had her set up so he could place the stethoscope on her back to listen to her lungs. After a few minutes, he determined that they were It was a cold fall evening when he received a call that a favorite patient of his was not feeling well. Even though the hour was late he got up, put on his heavy overcoat and made preparations for the house call. Grabbing his black medical bag and a few medicines out of his cabinet he walked outside into the cold late night air. As he was making his way to his car, he caught sight of the full moon that was in the sky. It lit up the landscape all around him with a silvery light. Ah, he thought to himself, what a beautiful sight.

It only took him a few minutes to drive across town to the house where his services were needed. He had known the family for many years and had become good friends with them. They had a little daughter who was around 7 years old, and a precocious little thing was she. Her mother told him over the phone that the little girl had a bad cold, and had developed quite a high fever. She thought it would be best, if he wouldn’t mind, to come over and take a look at her. After parking the car he made his way to their house. It was a modest home, small by some people’s standards, but well maintained. He knew what was on the inside was

grant her the grace of peace, tranquility, and healing. Please also grant peace of mind to her parents, as I can read the worry on their faces. I ask this in your name Master, Amen.”

As an old Physician and believer in the Master, he knew that healing not only involves the body but the mind, heart and spirit as well. He never treated a patient that he did not also pray over. He knew that the Master was the true source of all healing power so he always involved him.

Motioning to her parents they all quietly walked downstairs and let her sleep. When they emerged into the kitchen, he told them that he thought she had a touch of the flue. He gave them the remaining medicine and left instructions on how often she needed to take it. He assured them that she should start to feel better in a couple days. He could see their faces soften and a measure of peace rest on them.

The night was half way over by the time he left their house. They shook hands and hugged once more. He left with an invitation to Sunday dinner where he was told there would be his favorite chicken and homemade biscuits on the menu. Well, that was something he could not possibly turn down. He thanked them and then walked out once more into the cold night air.

Going to his car he looked up into the sky and saw the silver lamp in the heavens waiting for him. Taking a deep breath he thanked the Master once more for the beauty above and for his skills and talents of healing. Humming a happy tune, he drove home looking forward to a night of quiet and peaceful sleep.

I am Christopher fox. I was born with a disability known as Tourette syndrome. Tourette syndrome has a lot of tics involved such as vocalization, involuntary movements anything. It can even lead to death. There is no cure for Tourette syndrome.

Tourette syndrome is covered by the ADA Law. It messes with the nerves and there are numerous chapters of that deal with Tourette syndrome. I constantly got bullied, harassed etc. due to my Tourette's. I had a choice to make, walk alone or walk with God.

I encountered the Holy Spirit. Wow God has opened up so many doors in my life. Due to my Tourette's I have accomplished fond of my dreams do far. I want everyone to know no ones perfect we all battle something inside or out. Due to my Tourette's I'm achieving my God given talents. I'm taking this time to be s better Christian, work out etc. be a better person. I believe it's not how we start but how We finish.

WHO IS THE HOLY SPIRIT ?

HIS MIRACULOUS POWERS JEALOUS EMOTIONS & DESIRE TO BE PRAISED BY DAN BRIEN

In the beginning, when God created the Heavens and Earth, it was the Spirit of God who hovered above the waters. By the Spirit of God, and through Christ Jesus, the Almighty Father made all things. The Lord God reveals himself in this world as an everlasting Father who is sovereign over the nations of this world. He has a Son Jesus, who is called the Christ, whom God sent down from heaven to die on the cross as the penalty for mankind’s sin. The Holy Spirit is the third person to the trinity and he is the invisible ghost of God’s presence in the world. The Holy spirit is a mystery to many people, and also his unpredictable ways by which he performs God’s will. That’s because the Spirit is the emotional and intuitive side of God’s personality and so he completes the trinity. To prove this point let’s look at the three parts making up human beings. People have a heart, mind and soul. If human beings have a heart, mind and soul, then the Almighty God also has a heart, mind and soul. The difference between God and people is that the Lord contains three unique personalities; not one. And each personality acts as a crucial part of God’s divine being making him a living person who thinks, feels and makes decisions just like you and I. The father gives the orders. Jesus carries out those orders. And all of God’s will is performed by the power of the Holy Spirit. That’s why whenever God’s power is released to perform miraculous signs and wonders it’s the Holy Ghost who performs those miracles. The human heart is the foundation of who people really are as individuals, and so it forms the center structure of our personality. As we grow up from children into adults our hearts are the place where we make all our decisions in life. That’s why the Bible says out of the heart flows all the issues of life. Human beings also have a mind for intelligent thinking and reasoning. The mind of man is like to a human computer processor. Our minds process information, and then our intellect reveals that information to our hearts where we make decisions in life based off what we’ve learned. That’s where the human soul comes into play its part. The soul is the third part of the human psyche. Our souls are the conscious emotional parts of a person. The soul lies somewhere between our hearts and our minds, and our souls give us feelings and desires, and all of our motivations in life. So our soul has a certain control over our decisions. At times our hearts and minds must give way to our feelings if we are to happy in this life. We choose form our hearts to shift things around in our minds in order to please our feelings. This is true of God’s Spirit— The Father is the heart of who God really is. He is therefore the center foundation to the Almighty God’s existence, and so the Son of God, and the Spirit of God must obey his sovereign will. If the father is the foundation to God, and so acts as his heart, then Jesus Christ is definitely the mind of God. Whatever purpose the Father chooses in his heart to carry out in this life he sends his Son to carry out that purpose. That’s why the Gospel of John says the Son, is the word of God. John 1:14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth. Now if the father is the heart, and Jesus the mind of God, then the Holy Spirit must be the soul of God. We already know a person’s soul is where their emotions lay. So God himself has a soul where his emotions lay, and that’s the Holy Spirit of God. His spirit makes decisions based on God’s desires, but he also makes his own decisions based on how he feels at different times. That’s because he touches, tastes, sees and feels everything God experiences. He feels joy and gladness when people are obedient to God’s will. And he also becomes grieved when men refuse to submit to God’s commands. For this reason the Spirit rises up with zeal and passion at times to demonstrate God’s mighty power. Now because God is person with feelings and emotions, even God must yield to his feelings from time to time. But unlike humans, The Lord is always in control of himself. He never lets his emotions take total control of his decisions. And he never makes rash or hasty decisions out of rage.

WHO IS THE HOLY SPIRIT ?

Let’s take a look at some examples in the old and new testaments of the Bible to see how the Spirits of God behaved in different circumstances. Consider Sampson and his great strength. The book of Judges says the Spirit of the Lord would come upon Sampson in power and he would perform mighty deeds. He tore a young lion apart with his bare hands as he might have torn a young goat. Remember king Saul and the evil spirit that tormented him. David played sweet music from his harp and brought Saul relief from God. 1 Samual 16:14,23 Now the Spirit of the Lord had departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the Lord tormented him. 23.Whenever the spirit from God came upon Saul, David would take his harp and play. Then relief would come to Saul; he would feel better, and the evil spirit would leave him. God is an emotional being, and his Spirit is both pleased and displeased by the behavior of people. He is pleased when we worship him in song, and sing praises to his goodness. And that’s why the scriptures tell us that the Lord inhabits the praises of his people. Therefore if God can be pleased and displeased by peoples behavior then he can be displeased by their bad behavior, and so act out in anger against them. When the Israelites grumbled against the Lord because they wanted meat God lashed out against them with a plague. Numbers 11:4,6, (31-34) The rabble with them began to crave other food, and again the Israelites started wailing and said, “If only we had meat to eat! 6.But now we have lost our appetite; we never see anything but this manna!” This grumbling displeased the Lord and he became angry with the multitude. So God said in verse 18 “Tell the people: ‘Consecrate yourselves in preparation for tomorrow, when you will eat meat. — 19.You will not eat it for just one day, or two days, or five, ten or twenty days, 20 but for a whole month—until it comes out of your nostrils and you loathe it—because you have rejected the LORD, who is among you. Now look at what happens to Israel while they’re busy enjoying their meat. 33 But while the meat was still between their teeth and before it could be consumed, the anger of the LORD burned against the people, and he struck them with a severe plague. 34.Therefore the place was named Kibroth Hattaavah, because there they buried the people who had craved other food. I truly believe in my heart that as the Lord watched the Israelites enjoying the meal he provided, he burned with anger because he knew they were stubbornly rejecting him even as they ate. God’s sudden anger was like that of a loving parent watching their disrespectful child enjoying the good gifts provided, while at that same moment the child is holding a stubborn defiant attitude toward that parent. What parent wouldn’t want to pick up that child and spank their but right then and there. Now consider the new testament and how the Spirit can be grieved when God’s children quarrel among themselves, and how he can be made to be jealous when they follow the wicked ways of this world. Ephesians 4:29-32 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen. 30. And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. ----- Then look at James 4:4,5 You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. 5. Or do you think Scripture says without reason that the Spirit he caused to live in us envies intensely. You see, the Lord is a jealous God, and that’s because he owns all things in heaven and Earth, including all men. In fact, the name Jehovah, or the LORD, means jealousy. The LORD himself declares that his own name means jealous! Exodus 34:14 God told the people of Israel, Do not worship any other God, for the Lord, whose name is jealous, is a jealous God. So when the Bible says God is jealous in his personal relationships with people, it literally means ownership. Because the Lord owns everything. That’s why when God’s people, who are called by his name, are lured away from serving God by the temptations of this world, it makes the Spirit of the Father, and the Spirit of Christ envy this world passionately. Put yourself in God’s shoes for a moment. Have you ever been jealous of somebody else? Yes! When you were jealous of that person, didn’t you feel they were taking someone or something that belonged to you, such as a sense of honor, recognition, or maybe a romantic lover. Since the Holy Ghost is God’s emotions in action, it’s his Spirit who feels jealous of this world for taking his children’s interests from him. The Holy Spirit is very important to God. His intuition, emotion, and passion are that part of God which the Lord defends very fervently. The fact that blasphemy against the Holy Ghost is the unforgivable sin proves how strongly the Lord defends his own Spirit’s honor. In all things the Holy Spirit is the overall glory of God, and the Spirit of truth. He searches the deep things and so knows the mind of Christ. He is powerful in deed, but gentle at heart, and his soft touch can be felt throughout the heavens. He is responsible for the unity of the Almighty God, and as Christians he gives to us our oneness with the Father through our Lord Christ Jesus. So praise the Lord with all your heart. Sing and dance before the God of heaven and Earth. Let your praise ring out to all the Earth. Make sweet music with harps, cymbals and dancing. Devote your hearts to doing good, and your lives to what is right, and so please the Spirit of God. PSALM 147:10-12 HIS PLEASURE IS NOT IN THE STRENGTH OF THE HORSE, NOR HIS DELIGHT IN THE LEGS OF THE WARRIOR; THE LORD DELIGHTS IN THOSE WHO FEAR HIM, WHO PUT THEIR HOPE IN HIS UNFAILING LOVE. A MIRACLE THROUGH ALZHEIMER’S BY SHARON COOPER “Now I know I can do that!” She slammed the card down on the table. My father laughed. Once again, as we played Rummy that Sunday afternoon, my parents were arguing about the rules. Bored as always on Sunday afternoons, I had once again begged Daddy to play Rummy with Mother and me. Each week, after Church and lunch, we’d play cards for part of the afternoon. And every time, Mama and Daddy would argue about the rules. I was scorekeeper. Not realizing at the time, Mother’s mind began to short circuit. She would soon be diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. There’d been couple times when things just didn’t seem quite right. I knew nothing about the disease, and don’t recall ever hearing about this horrific disease. A disease that like cancer, not only destroys the patient, but the family as well. Back then, during the 1990‘s, there wasn’t a lot of information. Each day, I found myself in the midst of taking care of my parents. I felt cheated out of life, as in time I would never marry or have children. My life and future career would be placed on hold. And I had no idea as what I was doing trying to take care of both parents as they grew older. My mother was losing her mind as my father’s health deteriorated. He would eventually die from heart problems and emphysema. And 11 months later, my mother would die from Alzheimer’s. As time went on, I found myself grieving my mother’s death. No, she was still alive physically, but the mother I knew, my best friend, was dying a slow death. There would only be a shell of her personality. Yet, her faith in her Lord and Savior would never diminish. She would continue to be an independent woman, serving her Lord and Master till the end. For years, she and I would sing specials at Church. We practiced at night after supper and Daddy finished watching the news. He”d sit back and listen. Mother continued to stay busy cooking and working in her flowers. She always had a bouquet of flowers in the sanctuary. She had flowers blooming year round. And anytime she was asked to do something at Church, she didn’t hesitate. When it came time to take her driver’s license away, we didn’t remind her to get them renewed. But somehow she knew she never renewed her license. When she would get frustrated and want to go and do something, she would let us know in a heartbeat that she could still drive if she had her license. She continued to cook, wash clothes, and other various chores around the house. But little by little we noticed she would forget certain things. Like washing clothes or dishes. It wasn’t that she didn’t do those things; she just forgot how to do some things. One time, as my brother and I were putting some clothes up, we began to smell something. The clothes hadn’t been washed. But mama “thought” she had washed them. So I would put the clothes in the washer. Then I would put the soap in and turn the knob so all she had to do push the knob. The dryer was ready also. Slowly, I had to take over the cooking, but she continued to help by chopping the vegetables for me.

But she also began to forget things in conversations with others. It wasn’t so much forgetting how to talk, she just forgot details. Like the scripture in the Bible. One time as we were driving to a nearby town called Dothan, she made a remark about it one time. She told me, “I remember where it said in the Bible ‘And they said unto me, Let us go to Dothan.’” She remembered these verses in Genesis and Psalms, but put the two together because she forgot a portion of the scriptures. She knew the scripture, and when our pastor would be preaching, she’d nod her head in agreement, or say “I believe that”. She was always about the 3rd or 4th person in the choir. She still knew the songs. Someone had to help her find the pages, but she knew every word. As she began to forget the days of the week, I would tell her on Sunday to get ready for Church. “You mean this is Church day?” Yes. She’d be ready before me. But the most amazing thing is that our pastor never stopped asking her to pray in public until about the last month of her life. That was because when she prayed, you couldn’t tell she had Alzheimer’s. She was praying to her Father in Heaven. What a miracle! To know that even when the enemy tries to take away our minds, we can still talk to our Heavenly Father. And he continues to hear us each time we pray.
