Lara Young Unit27 Task 3 Part5
Task 3 part 5 Review of technical digital photography work Technical review Camera For all my posters the camera I used a canon EOS 750D which helped achieve a quality photo each time. Shutter For my first photo (the heart), The poster of the group of people and the poster of the boys on the bridge we have a 1/800 shutter speed as it was quite a bright location we didn’t want to make the poster look to bright or too dark. For the skater park we had to increase it because it was quite a dark location. Aperture For the aperture we have a consistent aperture around f5.6 for three of the posters which was the heart poster, the group of people and the boys on the bridge. The reason we have a medium aperture because the lighting was medium not too light or too dark so we didn’t need to make too many adjustments. For the skater park had to to increase it to f5.8 as it was a fairly dark area so to be able to see it we had to decrease the aperture. Focus On my first poster (the heat) the main focus is the big vibrant heart the reason this is the focus is because this helps fulfil the brief. We wanted to portray London as a vibrant and exciting place which this photo does. My second poster (skater) main focus is the boy. The reason he is the main focus because he represents the target audience because it reflects the target audience young, alternative and edgy teen. The 3rd poster (boys on the bridge) the main focus is the boys as they also reflect the target audience as young alternative teens we want the target audience to see themselves through the model. Also the background is blurred to put the boys the main focus. The final poster (group of people) the main focus is the big group of people the same reason again this group is diverse, young and edgy which help fulfil the brief. Again the background is out of focus to make the group of people the focus because they reflect the target audience. . Framing Two of my posters are framed as portrait (the heart) and (the skater). The reason I have framed it like this is so I could get the whole of the model in and its surrounding without anything being cut of. My other two posters (group of people and boys on the bridge) are in landscape the reason for this is so I could get the group of people in and the background without getting any of the group being cut of. Use of mise-en-scène For my 1st poster(heart) the setting I have chosen is a very vibrant and colourful place the reason I chose this is because I wanted to show to the target audience that London is a fun and vibrant place for young people. The use of props I have used is a camera to reflect that
Lara Young Unit27 Task 3 Part5 this is a photography poster and her body language is relaxed and happy to reflect that she is enjoying herself. My 2nd poster (skater) is in a skater park this reflects London as an exciting and youthful place like with the graffiti. The props are the skate board and is turned away from the camera because he his focused on the skating. The reason I have done this because we want to reflect the target audience as an edgy teens and we wanted him to look interesting and mysterious. The 3rd poster (boys on bridge) the reason we have chosen the bridge is because we wanted to angle it so we can see the boys and, in the distance, we can see the London skyline. This is to promote London as interesting and existing place. The props are a camera the reason for this is to reflect that it is a photography campaign. The 4th poster (group of people) the body language of the people seem to be relaxed and happy to reflect that they enjoy adverting in London. Their clothing is alternative and edgy to help match the target audience. And the setting is London which again meets the brief. Lighting The lighting on the first poster (heart) is natural light because we were outside however because it was a fairly cloudy day I had to manipulate it on Lightroom so we can see the image more clearly. The 2nd poster(skater) lighting is tunnel light as it was under a shelter which meant it was fairly dark this mean I had to manipulate it in Lightroom to get a brighter and lighter image by increasing the contrast and exposure. The 3rd image is (boys on bridge) is natural light because it was out in the open and was a fairly bright day is still had to manipulate it in Lightroom to make it clearer by increasing the clarity. The 4 th picture natural lighting but still had to manipulate it on photoshop. Review of the brief Fulfilment of brief I believe all of my posters fulfil the brief as my first poster (heart) this reflect London as an “vibrant” place with the use of the different and bold colours. Furthermore, I managed to incorporate the target audience into the poster which also fulfilled the brief as she was a young, affluent tourist who has an interest in photography. My seconded poster (skater) also fulfilled the brief as it illustrates London as an “adventurous place” and “exciting place” I have achieved this by capturing the skater mid jump and the setting helps create the exciting atmosphere. The model also reflects the target audience as he is seen as “alternative and edgy”. The third poster (boys in bridge) again fulfils the brief as it captures the “sense of adventure” because of the use of surrounding and also the models reflect the target audience as they reflect themselves as “alternative” and “interest in photography” through the use of props which is the camera. The fourth and finale poster (group of people) again fulfils the brief as it has a diverse group of “young affluent English speaking tourist” and reflect London as an “exciting place”. Creative intent For all of my poster I wanted the same meaning to come across which was London is a exciting and edgy place for young alternative teens to photograph. I feel the intended
Lara Young Unit27 Task 3 Part5 response was that it makes people want to go out and explore and take photos of London much like the photos on the posters. Production of meaning The outcome for all the posters is that people straight away see that this is a photography campaign aimed at young edgy teens and it inspired the target audience to go out, explore and take pictures of London. Fitness of Purpose For the first poster (heart) I wanted to have a girl because for each poster I wanted different genders, different races and ages but still reflect the target audience. The reason I have done this because I wanted the target audience to be able to relate to the posters and see themselves in the campaign. That’s why my second poster has a teenaged boy sating my third poster has a diverse group of boys and the final poster has a mixture of genders and races. We wanted all genders, race and religions to feel apart of our campaign. Visual language The first poster has a huge multicoloured heart. The denotation of the heart connotes love and unity this was important because we want are campaign to bring the target audience together and during this campaign meet new people and make new friendships. The seconded poster of the skating park, the graffiti and different colours has connotations of adventure and excitement which helps fulfil the brief. The 3 rd image on the bridge connotes togetherness and creativity because of the use of the cameras. The final poster connotes diversity and togetherness because of the group of teens the reason we captured this is because we feel this captures our target audience and the photography aspect. For clients Our posters first poster (heart) and the seconded poster(skater) are both aesthetically pleasing for are clients. As the aesthetic for these two poster was to capture the artsy side of London by photographing the vibrant and creative side. With these images I manipulated it on light room to make the colours more vibrant and eye catching for our client. I achieved this by increasing the exposure, saturation, vibrance and clarity. This made the photo clearer and and the colour more dominate. For my third image (bridge) and my fourth image (group)there is more technical qualities like more manipulation in Light room lie with the third image I used more technical qualities like increasing the temp to give it a slight blue atmosphere and then increased the tint to give a pinkish tint to give it a slightly edgy vibe. The same with the final poster I increased the tint to give it a pinkish surrounding, to also give it an edgy vibe. Creative Feedback
Lara Young Unit27 Task 3 Part5 Teacher- I needed to change the position of the text on the heart poster to the bottom left right of the poster to make the heart the main attraction. The other feed back was that the on the third poster one of the boys isn’t taking a picture so it ruins the effect. However, from the clients and peers the feedback was all positive saying it appeals to them because it reflects London in an exciting place and all the models on the poster reflect the people on the brief as they are “edgy and alternative”. They also said that they like the use of the camera because it shows that it is to do with photography.
