Where to start this month?? End of March April has been one of my busiest times on the road nearly all month long. Not enough room for sure in this printed Edition we limit to 48 pages so you will have to visit the Expanded Web Edition on the CTM web site for my reports on MATS, ExpoCam, World of Wheels and travels. Not to mention my latest and greatest adventure to rid myself of the fat I carry now up to the largest I have even been 220 lbs. On the cover is Destiney also on pages 23,24,25 & 26 inside. Her amazing story of how she lost weight without a diet or exercise but using a product she now sells. You know how I love to eat and unfortunately I am not talking salads! Just at ExpoCam in Montreal this month I went into a restaurant famous for thier ribs. The waiter told me thier Prime Rib was also well known and sought after. After being told I could order either as a side, I simply ordered two meals. A full rib dinner and full Prime Rib dinner and of course as my momma taught me, ate it all.
I would not ever recommend, promote or advertise anything in our magazine without trying it and proving it, so here I go giving it a try for the next several months to see if it really does what it states and reporting back to you. Every Ad in this magazine is backed by CTM and I encourage you to not only be directed towards them but let them know you saw thier Ad in CTM. If they don’t advertise in CTM they may not be right for you. If they are a quality service you are using, send them to CTM. Did you know CTM now has over 13,600 fans on facebook and our digital magazine has hit over 90,000 readers ! Thank-you ! LIKE our FB. See more in the digital magazine and the next few pages, digital does not limit the amount of good stuff we can provide you! Read on ,,,,,

Could not resist taking this picture of my look a like at ExpoCam in Montreal PQ this month. We will see what I look like next month, maybe buff like my friend Kevin from Xp3, bottom right corner page 5. Kevin to, used greens and lost over 100 pounds and is a brother truck driver besides educating us and providing Xp3 as a FUEL UPGRADER. To the right my friend Jeff Boyle (a compliance manager, but I like him anyways),doing a log book check on Ice Road Truckers @ ExpoCam in Montreal. I like this picture as it shows the fun and excitement of the show. Everyone had a smile and a great time. As said before I will write a full report and more pictures in the Expanded Web Edition. At my house during Easter, Kaitlynne & Tia had to get me to snap a pic of them and Peanut Butter & Oreo, and by the way those rabbits posed I think they were camera hounds too. But thanks for an awesome Easter picture! I wish I had more room here to include the hundreds of pictures we took at the events this month, but if you LIKE our FB page, we post there.

Marc Springer, star of A&E’s hit TV sho
Marc Springer from A&E’s hit TV Show “Shipping Wars” is a passionate guy. If you have ever seen his show, you will know that it’s this passion and Marc’s no “BS” attitude that has helped Marc find success in trucking as well as in front of the camera.
38
Having been on Shipping Wars for 100 episodes now, Marc knows what it takes to be successful in trucking as well as on Television. “Nothing is ever easy but when you have the right formula, and you are willing to put in the effort, it just works!” One of Marc’s passions, when not on the road in his Kenworth or filming for his show, is the sport of Waterfowl Hunting. “Just getting out in the blind and spending time with good friends is always a great time.” Marc is a firm believer that by respecting the wildlife, educating the youth, and focusing on conservation and responsible land use this sport will continue to be enjoyed by generations to come. To pursue his goals of keeping the sport alive, Marc’s company, Snortn’ Boar Transport recently signed on as an advertiser with a new Television show on The Pursuit Channel called “Waterfowl Evolution” that focuses on these ideals.
ow “Shipping Wars” and Owner/Operator of Snortn’ Boar Transport Waterfowl Evolution follows Ryan Swartz, Stuart Harr, Austin Lindsey and Diesel (Austin’s Yellow Lab) as they share with the world their passion for Waterfowl hunting and the lifestyle that surrounds it. As Marc puts it: “These guys really are passionate about what they do and I respect that. Show them your support by tuning in and checking out the show. Also, remember to like them on facebook!” Ryan Swartz's father started him hunting at four years old. When he turned six, he got his first rifle, a .22. When Ryan turned eight, he got himself a single-shot 20 gauge shotgun.
Needless to say, he's had the passion for hunting waterfowl ever since. He enjoys the camaraderie of being in the blind. During the off season he's either fishing or hunting other game. It's hard to find Ryan indoors, and if you ever have the chance to meet him, it will most likely be outdoors where he loves sharing the experience with others.
39
Stuart Harr got into hunting roughly 12 years ago when he purchased his first shotgun. He was introduced to the sport by means of "selfinviting" himself to go hunting with one of the guys from work. There was just something about that first trip he will always remember. Sleeping in the blind to hold their spot while the other guys went back to get the rest of the decoys was a totally new experience for him. That trip sparked a passion in Stuart that still burns strong today. Stuart would like to pass on his love for the sport,
not only to his own son, but also to every young hunter he meets. Austin Lindsey has been a fireman for the last 8 years following in his father’s footsteps. Austin was introduced to waterfowl hunting shortly after becoming a career fireman and, much like his job, hunting became an immediate passion. Austin has always enjoyed working with dogs and wanted a lab to share the hunt with. Diesel who is coming up on 3 years old and Hallie a black lab female puppy love nothing more than being with Austin on a hunt.
With a natural knack for training, it quickly became Austin’s focus during the offseason. Whether at work, in a duck blind, or out training his dogs Austin strives to be the best he can be and to help others better themselves as well. On the show, the team explores the rich history surrounding the sport. There is so much more to water fowl hunting than just “pulling the trigger”. The entire team at PNW Productions and Waterfowl Evolution is committed to family friendly and ethical hunting practices in line with
the International Hunter Education Association’s published code of ethics and respected organizations such as Ducks Unlimited and Delta Waterfowl. It is the goal of Waterfowl Evolution to share with the viewer that true multi-generational passion and love of the outdoors that drives this sport.
With a focus on history, education, land use/conservation, proper gear/product reviews, dog training, and of course, epic hunts, our team lives life to the fullest sharing their adventures with friends, family, and the viewers at home. Waterfowl Evolution makes every day an adventure. Tune in to the Pursuit Channel (Direct TV channel 604 and Dish Network channel 393) on Sundays at 8:30pm PST. Re-runs can also be seen Wednesdays at 11:00am PST and Thursdays at 5:00am PST Episodes can also be found on the Waterfowl Evolution Website at: www.waterfowlevolution.com

It seems like yesterday but 40 years ago Jack Shields and his 3 sons (Clarence, Jim & John) started their first restaurant an A&W, in a small northern town called Fort McMurray. At that time there were less then 5,000 people living in that community. From there they expanded to include the Fort’s first Smitty’s Pancake House & Diary Queen franchises, the Garden Cafe, Willies and Oriellys & the Stags Head Inn. As Fort McMuuray continued to grow so did the Shields family business. In 1986 after the introduction of the Liberal National Energy Program the family lost all their business and were forced to start all over again. Some 25 years ago Jack and Clarence started all over again by operating a restaurant located the Nisku Truck Stop. From there they continued to grow acquiring the Airways Country Inn and numerous other business interests. Brother Jim and his wife Jody ventured off to start a successful greenhouse operation, while John continued on with an award winning career in radio. Blackjacks Roadhouse and Games Room is a brand new building been created to host Clarence’s latest vision, this outstanding and beautiful building features amazing truss work and a 2nd floor grand stage over- looking our room. They boast the best buffet in the area, as well as a great Canadian & Chinese cuisine menu. Our games room is furnished with 25 V.L.T.s, 5 Minute Keno, Sports Select. Watch and play all the sports from our comfortable lounge. Trucker Friendly Please come by anytime and enjoy our menu and great service. Open 24 hours a day featuring specials daily. Spend some time wandering around looking at one of the largest collection of oilfield, trucking and car racing memorabilia dating back some 100 + years.

You’ve heard about the south side of Chicago and a guy named Leroy Brown. Well, on the north side of St. Louis, Leroy had a counterpart named Joe Willyard. Born in the inner city, Joe was raised by a step-father who didn’t work out any better than the father who’d left soon after his birth. No one taught him to play baseball or took him hunting. There was no father image in his young life and no guidance – just a hole called loneliness. At the tender age of 13 Joe had a full time interest in alcohol, was an alcoholic by age 14 and was mainlining drugs by 17. After a short hitch in the army, he celebrated a lonely nineteenth birthday in prison. Joe came out harder and wilder. He was mean to the core and carried an attitude. Appropriately, he found employment as a nightclub bouncer. During this period in his life, his girl-
friend’s brother was killed in a drug deal. Always the protector, Joe agreed to set up the killer for the murdered boy’s father to avenge. When he went to a bar to finger the triggerman, the word of his mission had already gotten around. When he walked out the door, he was the one who got shot. But that was child’s play compared to an episode a few months later. In the bar where he worked, a guy gave a waitress a hard time and Joe called the loudmouth outside to fight. Joe had just taken his fighting stance when he noticed the man pull a gun. The shot exploded into his chest, penetrating his right lung. But before Joe hit the ground, he pulled out his own gun and shot his assailant three times, completely blowing away his stomach. Only plea-bargaining kept him out of prison again. Just like in the old westerns, everyone wanted to take on the bad bouncer. So Joe decided to move. In the following years, he experienced one continual bout of drinking and drugs, until he found himself panhandling on the streets of Boston to get enough money for another cheap bottle of white port wine to drink alone.
Joe had been driving a truck on and off since he got out of prison and had been married three times. Ultimately he found himself in a detox center trying to get off booze. He wanted to be free from the bottle but was continually set off by things that drove him back to it. That’s why on December 26, 1976 he awoke one morning in a mental ward in Milan, Illinois. He was closely guarded because they were afraid that Joe had become as suicidal as he was homicidal. Joe Willard decided at that moment that he’d taken his last drink, and he’s been dry ever since. But he was still a lost man. Sober but lost. His mother had sent him to Sunday school and church when he was young. He had a head full of facts about God, but his heart was empty. Although he quit drinking, he was still doing pills and snorting coke. Right up until May 19, 1984. On that day, a driving rainstorm caused Joe to shut down one night in Bartons, Oklahoma, where he got an overwhelming urge to go to church. “I walked into that little Pentecostal church alone. And when the pastor gave the call to surrender my life to Jesus Christ, I did. There was no hokey stuff about it. I meant business. I prayed, ‘Lord, show me where to go, what to do and I will obey.” The saving, cleansing presence of Jesus Christ took up residence in the empty heart of the tough guy from the north side of St. Louis. When he walked back to his truck, he noticed that he was conveniently parked right next to a dumpster. There he dumped the last of his drugs. He might be alone from time to time, but he’d never be lonely again. Since that time, Joe Willyard’s iden-
tity has been caught up in the person of Jesus Christ. His passion has become introducing others to his Lord. You may have seen Joe Willyard’s Peterbilt somewhere on the road. It’s the one with the gorgeous mural of the sunset over the ocean painted on the side. On the hood’s painted, “Jesus is my Pilot.” Ont he back’s the decal, “Get right with God or get left.” Looking back on his own troubled, lonely childhood, Joe urges truckers to commit their lives to the Lord and “train up a child in the way he should go.” He knows that youth cannot get involved in the things of God too early. The Bible verse that drives him most is found in Luke 14:23: “Go out to the roads…and make them come in” (pg. 87). Truckers have given their hearts to the Lord under the illumination of the big spotlight on Joe’s truck. “A constant problem facing truckers is loneliness,” says Joe. “The temptation of prostitution lies mainly in just wanting to be with someone, even if it’s just for a few minutes. A woman’s voice on the CB sounds like heaven. It can be a lonely life.” “Becoming a follower of Jesus means that Satan is taken out and Christ comes in. The lonely spot in all of us is filled with the Son of God. Christ can give all the peace and companionship a man seeks.”

WHERE’S CHUCKY
DARYL FROM ICE ROAD TRUCKERS FOUND CHUCKY!
In 1970 Mike and Marvin Sandstra formed Sandstra Bros. Transportation Ltd. in Red Deer, AB. The company was in operation about 25 years. They had running authority in AB., Sask. and BC., with a couple of trucks licensed for Man. Construction materials such as lumber and drywall, agricultural products; canola, beet pulp, hay, pellets, grain, etc. were the main products they transported. They had approximately 45 trucks running at any given time which included their own trucks and also lease operators. Including the drivers and support staff (mechanics, office staff, etc) there would have been around 60 employees. As with any business employees come and go. These are the people that this reunion is all about. We have managed to locate 85 people and have sent out invitations to each of them: however as you can imagine there were a lot more people than that who were connected to Sandstra Bros. Transportation Ltd. It is the rest of the people that we are trying to reach. We have a list of 40 more names that we have no contact information for and would really like to get in touch with them and give them the opportunity to enjoy this weekend with us. This reunion is the brain child of Roger Olson who drove for the company in the 80's.
From their days at Sandstra's a lot for these guys have stayed in touch and have become life long friends. Many are in their 60's and 70's and are still teaming these big rigs up and down the highways. Over the years a number of these friends have passed on and before they lose any more, it would be nice to meet again, renew old friendships and share laughter and stories together. The company is where they all met but this not about the company or the Sandstra family. They are invited guests only; the same as each and every one who will be there. They have given us information about the company and some pictures and memorabilia but in no way have had any part in organizing this get together. Since the weekend for this event is fast approaching we need to hear from any interested parties asap. It is by invitation only because of the catered meal on Saturday night and the meals we will be providing for the rest of the weekend. June 12, 13, and 14, 2015. For more information please contact:
