Okay I have some great articles with information important to our industry in the Web Edition but here I have some News from the Road. First next to us here the crew from First Class Training Centre at the Convoy last year with a stellar showing of thier trucks. 2014 First Class is talking about 9 yea “9” Trucks in the Convoy, now that’s outstanding! That deserves a banner at the bottom of this page to put out a challenge to all the other companies out there, that if First Class can put in 9, others should match or beat that. Let’s make the 2014 Convoy the World’s Largest right in Canada in Manitoba on September 6th. July 19th @ Headingley MB @ the Dog is a Pre Convoy Party @ the CanadianTrucking Show. Good time to come down meet the organizers and maybe some athletes, pick up a pledge form and make a difference on the 6th of September while participating in one of the greatest Convoy Events you will never forget. Travelling Cross Border With Pets?

Our summer holiday season has arrived; as we begin making our plans for travel with our families, many of us bring along our pets because they are an important part of our family and we choose not to leave them behind. Often we wonder what if any are the requirements when we cross the borders in or out of Canada and the U.S.A. or even Internationally. When crossing any border point travelling by land whether you are in a motorhome or car the same rules apply for both Canada and U.S.A. All pets are subject to heath, quarantine, agriculture and wildlife requirements according to the guidelines set out by Animal Plant Health Inspection Service, Center for Animal Welfare and the CDC Center for Disease Control. Dogs: must be vaccinated against rabies at least 30 days prior to entry, except for puppies younger than 3 months. A dog with an unexpired health certificate meets these requirements. These requirements apply to service dogs as well. Unfortunately if you do not comply your dog must be placed into confinement for 30 days (takes that long for the vaccination to take effect) and you have to sign a confinement agreement. For air travel you must have a certain sized dog carrier according to the guidelines of the specific airline, they are all different so please contact your air carrier for specific size details. Only small dogs are allowed in the cabin on plane confined to a soft-sided airline approved carrier. Medium to large dogs must go in the cargo section with baggage in an airline approved hard shell carrier. 10

Cats: subject to inspection at ports of entry, if they appear to be ill they may be denied entry and subject to further examination by a licensed Vet at owner’s expense may be required at port of entry. Cats are not required to have proof of rabies vaccination . For air travel cats also have to be confined to a small soft-sided airline approved carrier in cabin. Cats and Dogs that are being imported into Hawaii will be quarantined for 130 days. Birds: you must fill out a USDA Import Permit, provide current health certificate by licensed Vet, must quarantine the bird for 30 days at owner’s expense in a USDA animal import center.

Horses: You will need a completed and signed by Equine Vet a Veterinary Health Certificate valid for 30 days, form HA1964 and a Coggins Test valid for 6 months. Be prepared to show documentation that your horse will only be in U.S.A. or Canada for a short period of time. When transporting any pet do not use bedding such as hay, straw, grass or other natural bedOne more topic that I get asked freding as they are not allowed due to harboring quently, travelling with children: various plant pests. If your children have passports please bring them with you (to obtain a passport please go to passport.gc.ca, all passports issued after July 1, 2013 are now ePassports which are digital chip equipped), if not a valid birth certificate is required. Parents who share custody of their children carry copies of legal custody documents. If the other parent is not travelling with you, or if you are travelling with minors for whom you are not the parent or legal guardian, we recommend you carry a letter of consent authorizing you to take the child on the trip. For information regarding anything Exotic animals are a whole other mentioned in this article or information on the ball game so you will need to contact the fight against smuggling, terrorism, C-TPAT, CDC for those regulations. FAST, PIP please contact When travelling by Air with your pets Dawn Truell you must fill out a Canadian International Health Cross Border Services Certificate, issued by CFIA and you can print a 905-973-9136 copy of this form on inspection.gc.ca website. dawntruell@gmail.com Requirements listed above are the same. www.crossborderservices.org Just in case you were wondering www.c-tpat-certified.com. about food restrictions I thought that I would Note from Dave! throw that topic in as well. If You must declare all food prod- you see suspicious activity, persons asking ucts; failure to do so can result in up to you for a ride across the border in your vehicle, a loose lipped driver talking about smug$10,000 in fines and penalties. Restricted gling loads of weapons or drugs, do us all a items include meats, fruits, vegetables, big favour and contact authorities. Try to get plants, soil, and products made from animal as much information as possible without beor plant materials. coming involved and shut these bad guys down. They are bad for our business.

TAT and WIT Pilot Program to Combat Human Trafficking By; Ellen Voie CAE, President/CEO Women in Trucking

Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT) and Women in Trucking (WIT) are looking for 25 women drivers to participate in a three-month pilot program handing out lip balm with a special message on them to girls and women who might be human trafficking victims. “We are excited to see our partnership with WIT move to the next level, and truly believe this campaign has great potential to reach victims with the help they so desperately need," says Kendis Paris, TAT executive director. Women, by virtue of their gender, often have greater opportunity to interact with and show compassion to minors and adult women (away from their pimps and without suspicion), who may be the victims of forced prostitution.

This interaction may occur in public restrooms at truck stops or travel plazas, in a hotel/motel lobby, at a laundromat or even in a restaurant.

That interaction, either via the message on the lip balm (if the girl is able to act on it) or the phone call a driver makes -- if human trafficking is suspected -- could directly lead to victim rescue. A similar program in Kentucky resulted in a spike of victim calls to the National Human Trafficking Resource Center (NHTRC) at 1-888-3737-888 requesting help. To harness this potential for female interaction, TAT and WIT are launching this threemonth pilot to run from July 7-Sept. 30, 2014. If successful, the program has the potential to expand across the United States with an unlimited number of drivers participating.

Participating drivers in the pilot will be responsible to hand out specially printed lip balms to those they think might be human trafficking victims and to engage them in conversation, if that is possible.

At the end of each interaction, participating drivers will need to write down specific data regarding the exchange, as well as report potential human trafficking situations to the NHTRC. An online training webinar for the 25 women will take place on June 24, 2014 from 5:30-6:30 CST. It will cover how to approach and interact with potential victims as well as understand the field data that needs to be documented after each exchange.

If you’re interested and care about taking advantage of the key role you can play as a female driver in reaching out to girls and women forced into the sex industry, please call 920-737-9490 or email lana@womenintrucking.org. 2014.

X p 3

Carolynne Miss May CTM Xp3’d me at the RoadKing Truck Stop in Calgary AB, Canada.

I put the juice in my tanks and noticed the power change right off, I pulled Scott Lake Hill, hit bottom at 100k and went over top at 85k, and just split to direct at botom because running 3.55 rears in my Pete. Never dropped below 1300 what a major diffference. Then unbelivable I got 8.48 mpg pulling fully loaded tri from Winnipeg MB to Dead Man’s Flats. Canada is now starting to see more truck drivers and owner operators smiling and feeling better about their businesses after they experience first-hand benefits of the new Xp3 Fuel Enhancer. Xp3 is a non-petroleum based, biodegradable blend of synthetic resins and organic compounds engineered to maximize the full potential of diesel by providing a more complete combustion of the fuel. It improves fuel economy, reduces soot, pollution and toxic emissions, safely and completely disperses water into a burnable fuel, lubricates and cleans injectors, removes sludge and carbon deposits, 32

provides cold weather protection against gelling and waxing, improves pour point, protects against corrosion, stabilizes fuel, provides antialgae protection, is an effective biocide, extends engine life and reduces maintenance costs including extended oil change intervals, contains no abrasive, toxic or harmful compounds and does not void engine manufacturer’s warranties. By enhancing the fuel’s combustion properties, Xp3 extracts more efficiency and power out of every combustion stroke, a more complete burn equals more power generated. This means better performance, less unburnt hydrocarbons and toxic emissions, improved DPF regen cycles, reduced DEF consumption and increased fuel economy. Dating back to 1989, Xp3 was created by Xp Lab Inc., in San Diego, CA to treat and enhance bunker fuels used in ocean freighters and marine ships. Today, Xp3 is currently sold in over 27 countries through appointed Master Distributors. In January 2014, Repstar Agencies Inc., a multi-line manufacturer’s rep firm from Ile Des Chenes, MB secured Master Distribution rights to Xp3 for Canada. “Xp3 is a unique and important product for many Canadian businesses operating diesel powered equipment” says Marc Palud, President of Repstar Agencies. “Being able to solve 10+ fuel related problems with a non-toxic, commercial grade concentrated formula is both convenient and profitable for all diesel equipment users in the Canadian economy”. Xp3 is sold through select Truck Stops, Warehouse Distributors and Dealers serving industries and customers operating all types of diesel powered equipment. For more information on Xp3 and for Dealer inquiries, call Marc Palud at 1-800-507-4107 or email Marc@RepstarAgencies.com. www.Xp3Canada.com - www.XpLab.com Watch for me on the road and I will have a bottle or two with me!
