Johnathon is currently a partner at KONTUR / ctrl+n, an architecture and design firm with offices both in Gjovik and Oslo, Norway. Johnathon emigrated to Norway mid 2008 and started work as an architect with Snøhetta, during this time there he worked on a number of projects including winning competitions in the Middle East, many of which are now going through to built works. His key projects in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, involved working on many aspects of the design stages from concept through to detailed design. Up until September 2008, Johnathon worked as an architectural designer for a London based firm Benoy Architects, specialising in Eastern Europe, in countries such as Romania, Russia and Ukraine. Previous to this Johnathon worked as a volunteer architectural designer in Sri Lanka helping with the aid relief post tsunami. This project was in association with the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA.) Johnathon completed his studies at the University of Bath with a degree in architecture, BSc Arch. The course involved all aspects of architecture and design, including architectural design, graphic design, web design, interior design, landscape design and structural design. Over the last years Johnathon has worked on both large-scale urban projects and smaller-scale residential and commercial projects and is now working on many cultural and installation projects in Norway and abroad. Johnathon has specialised in front end design and has fused together aspects of graphic design, illustration, photography and art into his architectural works. This combination of the design mediums is something he has been passionate about from the outset and this is a key factor in ctrl+n’s aspirations for the future.

Amber waves of acrylic plastic extend through the floor of a two-story, mechanized matrix in Breaking The Surface, a new interactive installation from Scandanavian Design Group, ctrl+n, Abida, Pivot Product Design and Intek. The kinetic sculpture is meant to evoke an abstract image of the geological world below sea level, a nod to the technology used by the commissioning oil company, Lundin Norway. PLAY is an ongoing development of furntiture projects using different materials and manufacturing techniques. PLAY should entice and encourage the user, the different elements are parts to be moved, altered and placed in order to engage the participant and shape the spaces they occupy. ctrl+n do not want to dictate the users experience, but rather to allow for individual interpretation and spacial intervention. Erik moved back to Norway after completing his degree at the AA School of Architecture in London, summer 2007. He worked with KONTUR AS after his degree before signing on to Snøhetta in September 2008. He was involved in the concept design stage of a wide range of international projects during his employment at Snøhetta. i.e : National Concert Hall- Dublin, Deichmansk Library- Oslo, Musquat fish market- Oman, AOC headquartersAmsterdam, KAPSARC research facility- Saudi Arabia, Visitor centre- Qatar, Sørvågen hotell apartment and spa- Lofoten. Previously employed at KONTUR (07-08) he was involved in master planning, concept design, detailing and on site follow up of projects under construction. One of the main competitions he worked on during this time was the competition concept design for the Police Computer and Material Resource Centre (PDMT) in Norway. Erik has won several prizes for his diploma projects. He recieved first prize in the open design competition “Environmental Techtonics V2.0“ in London. The same project recieved honorable mention in the International Award for Architecture Diploma ACXT IDOM in Madrid, Spain. In Nusfjord, Northern Norway he was in charge of designing and constructing a historical roundtrip (Museum Experience) through 11 buiildings on a listed site. Using historical artefacts, lighting and historical photos he created an experience for the visitors visiting the heritage site of the history of the small fishing community. Erik is highly interested in research aspects of architecture participating in international workshops. i.e: Parametric Design Workshop in Istanbull looking at the potential of weaving tubes and filling them with liquid concrete to design a column that accomodates structure and space and in Ghana where bamboo was tested as a vernacular material to create shelter with a high degree of complex geometry.

Mustad pedestrian bridge connects Mustad business park with nearby Gjovik town centre. The bridge spans 32 meters with two triangulated girders, hidden within the corten steel clad railings. A lighting strip along the bottom of the railings emphasises this architectonic point. Cast into the prefabricated concrete decking elements is a crystaline sine-wave pattern, a referance to the streams of information going in and out of the business park. The Norwegian Wild Reindeer Centre Pavilion is located at Hjerkinn on the outskirts of Dovrefjell National Park, overlooking the Snøhetta mountain massif. The 90m2 building is open to the public and serves as an observation pavilion for the Wild Reindeer Foundation educational programmes. A 1,5km nature path brings visitors to this spectacular site, 1200 meters above sea level. Published by Archdaily, Dezeen, Design milk + others. Executed as an employee of Snøhetta AS.

Hege joined KONTUR / ctrl+n two years ago and has since been engaged as an interior designer in connection with the rehabilitation of Mustad Business Park in Gjøvik. These include the new offices of Telenor, the expansion of Mustad Business Park’s canteen (two flexible meeting rooms) as well as the new coffee shop “Coffee Corner” all of which were completed in autumn 2013. Hege has also to been part of the ongoing renovation of the new office space for Eika Gruppen, Simpleo, O. Mustad and son Property as well as some drawings in connection with Sweco’s new premises. Besides the Mustad Business Park Hege has been working as an interior designer in conjunction with concept development and implementation of interiors of EAB Engineering’s new building at Kallerud, Gjøvik. Hege was also engaged as an interior designer in connection with a feasibility study for the rehabilitation of the SINTEF Raufoss Manufacturing. Her main tasks have been related to the preparation of layouts, complete working drawings in a BIM application Revit, choice of colors and materials, fixtures and fittings, furnishing and decorative lighting for offices, bathrooms, meeting rooms, coffee shops and various other social zones. I am telling the story of the ship stuck in the ice by using design, material and controlled daylight, but perhaps most importantly of all, I give the viewer room to create their own “lighting experience” and “lighting memories.” Many people become tired in dark premises and I wanted to show how the artificial light and daylight can complement each other in museums and exhibition spaces where daylight is often shut out. SNITT is an experimental furniture piece which is both a specific construction technique and an investigation into inter-disciplinary design processes. SNITT #1 explored the concept as a bench and sculptural dividing wall. Here we fused architecture, set production, furniture design and pattern design to create a unified, tactile and usable object. #2 explores collaborations with movie and music producers. The assignment includes concept and choices of all movable and immovable fixtures. EAB Engineering have a clear brand, which they wished to be reflected in their interior concept. This has resulted in a concept that is tailored to the customer’s blue and yellow graphic brand.
