Little Cloud Lamb

Illustrations by Monica Carretero

One night, under the light of the full moon and the stars, a lamb was born. Molly, his mother, lay next to him in the meadow, tired but happy as she gazed lovingly at her new baby. “Lambkin, now that’s a fine name,” she thought as she licked his four little legs and rosy body.

The following morning, as soon as the sun came up, the other sheep in the flock trotted over to congratulate Molly.

A few weeks after he was born, Molly began to notice that instead of having wool growing on his body, Lambkin looked different, and was covered with a small, fluffy, white cloud. A real cloud that had fallen from the sky and come to rest on her son’s four legs.

A cloudy cloud, with storms, lightning and sudden rain, but also with the sun shining through.

Lambkin got bigger and bigger, but because he had a cloud instead of a woolly coat, he grew apart from the other lambs, who found him different and didn’t know how to play with him.

Cuento de Luz (Tale of Light) publishes stories that enlighten our lives to bring out our inner child. Stories that make time stand still for us to live the present. Stories that take the imagination on a journey and help care for our planet, to respect differences, break down barriers and promote peace. Stories that do not leave you indifferent; stories that lift you up. Cuento de Luz respects the environment and contributes to the protection of nature, incorporating sustainability principles through eco-friendly publishing.

Lambkin is a different lamb. Instead of being covered in wool, his body is a cloud. A touching and sensitive story for all ages, about accepting differences and dealing with the loss of a loved one. Because very often what happen to us in life is an opportunity to learn and grow. Intended for parents and educators, this thoughtful book treats a delicate topic with compassion and understanding.
