樂曲介紹 《長頸鹿》(2012) 是我為香港兒童合唱團寫的動物組曲第一首。我為香兒創作時一直秉持一個信念： 對兒童來說音樂可以很簡單，說說生果，說說動物，也是饒有趣味，用不著每首歌都「熱愛生命、熱 愛音樂」。若要追求所謂深度，可在音樂上花點功夫，令作品豐富有趣，而且更具份量。《長頸鹿》 的內容非常簡單，我在創作前上網搜集資料，找到長頸鹿一系列特徵：世界最高的陸上生物、不太愛 說話、唾液豐富有時會流出、非洲獨有、主要是褐色−−看到 一點，突然想到動畫裡的長頸鹿仿佛 都是橙色，但世上竟然沒有橙色的長頸鹿？我不禁 的反問自己：「我多麼喜歡橙色，又多麼喜歡 長頸鹿，為甚麼長頸鹿不是橙色 ？」 個反問是很「周星馳式」的無厘頭，但我偏偏就寫進歌曲 去−− 呼應了我對兒童音樂的信念：內容有時不必太認真，可以是隨心的話題。《長頸鹿》可算實 踐了我對兒童音樂的信念。 譚天樂（作曲、作詞） 畢業於倫敦皇家音樂學院之歌劇課程及香港演藝學院，身兼歌唱家、合唱指揮及作曲家。譚氏曾在世 界各地不少舞台製作中擔任要角，演出超過三十個歌劇角色 。2015年在 「譜Teen同唱 - 萬人音樂 會」中擔任合唱總監，由近萬位青年參與合唱貝多芬《第九交響曲》之《歡樂頌》打破健力士世界紀 錄。2016年被委任為「香港國際無伴奏合唱節」的藝術總監。譚氏亦參與不少本地流行音樂編曲、作 曲、現場演奏及和音工作，以及為香港管弦樂團及香港小交響樂團擔任管弦樂編曲。譚氏獲英國皇家 音樂學院頒發 ARAM 榮銜，以表揚他在音樂領域上的貢獻。2018年獲香港音樂及舞蹈聯會頒發「傑 出音樂家大獎」。他現為香港歌劇院合唱團總監、艾莉亞音樂學院院長、香港演藝學院合唱團指揮及 聲樂導師。 Programme Notes Giraffe (2012) is the first song in the “Animals Suite” I composed for the Hong Kong Children’s Choir. When writing for children I have always followed my belief that to children, music and singing can sometimes be very simple; their interest may be excited by down-to-earth topics such as animals or fruits. I enjoy writing about areas not often chosen by composers rather than old standbys, such as “passion for life” or “love for music”. As the lyrics for “Giraffe” are simple, I found that I had to work much harder musically, and hope the composition speaks for itself. Before I started composing this piece, I researched on the internet and discovered some interesting facts about giraffes: They are the world’s tallest terrestrial animal; they are generally quiet and non-vocal, but they communicate using a variety of sounds including grunting, snorting and hissing; they are only found in the wild in Africa and are mainly brown in colour - and this particular fact struck me - I suddenly asked myself why all the cartoon giraffes I had seen were orange, when there aren’t orange giraffes on Earth. This rhetorical question comes with a bit of Stephen Chow-style humour, but I thought, “Why not?” This resonates with my belief in music for children: The content does not have to be so serious all the time, it can be anything you want - the sky is the limit. Alex Tam (composer, lyricist) Graduated from the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts (HKAPA), Alex Tam is an opera singer, choral conductor and composer. He took leading roles in many stage productions worldwide, including over 30 operatic roles. Alex was the Chorus Master of the Guinness World Record-breaking event, ODE TO JOY - Concert of Ten Thousand in 2015, and was appointed Artistic Director of the Hong Kong International A Cappella Festival in 2016. He is also active in the pop music field, composing and arranging for numerous artists, and making orchestral arrangements for Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra and Hong Kong Sinfonietta. Alex received the ARAM award from the Royal Academy of Music for his significant contribution in the music field. In 2018, he received the Outstanding Musician Award from the Hong Kong Music and Dance Association.
