LIVE WORDS ASSIGNMENT FOUR

A word is not a crystal, transparent and unchanged, it is the skin of a living thought and may vary greatly in color and content according to the circumstances and the time in which it is used. O.W.Holmes

I am a dreamer of words, of written words. I think I am reading; a word stops me. I leave the page. The syllables of the word begin to move around. Stressed accents begin to invert. The word abandons its meaning like an overload which is too heavy and prevents dreaming. Then words take on other meanings as if they had the right to be young. Gaston Bachelard

As Wittgenstein stated 'be bothered by something', Assignment Four is about researching, reflecting and writing about a topic that your are bothered by - meaning a topic about which you are intrigued, curious, passionate, interested in, committed to, ardent, vehement, provoked, challenged, influenced, puzzled, wonder .... Use the research and readings that have been the basis for your group manifestos as a point of departure to develop your argument for your critical writing. Critical writing is a means to reflect more deeply into a point of view on a specific topic - to argue, debate and to theorise about it.

LIVE WORDS will be completed in two phases: Phase A 10% of final grade draft abstract (optional - highly recommended) abstract 200 words + annotated bibliography (10 books) Phase B 30% of final grade critical writing 3000 words
