EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN IDEAS assignment three
EXTENSION
M
The synthesis and combination of the ideas and the knowledge from the two previous assignments are the basis for assignment 3. Remembering and forgetting, absence and presence are a couple of dialectical parameters than define how we think and experience the things that engage us. Things are expressions of an interpretation of reality. Mixing intuitive and non‐intuitive design methods and personal creative impulses, knowledge and procedures, students need to give personal interpretations of the applicability of the researched issues and realities within your self‐directed process. Use what you have found and revealed from the physical and the sensory explorations from the previous two assignments to begin to design an experience in this assignment. This is an expression (Bruner+Turner: see lecture 5)of how the lived reality and what you experienced will be creatively expressed in a design. Student will create a design output that is developed as a conceptual idea and presented in a form of an experience for someone else ‐ related to a developed design premise supported by writings developed through the process to reflect the content and ideas embedded within their projects. Start with the strongest aspect and/or your most passionate research/investigation from the three sensory explorations presented in assignment two. Choose a part of the body (not hands) to consider for your design experienced as an artefact. Consider a part of the body that relates to the original act as a starting point. Consider the body, the senses, scale and time in this design. 1. concept sketches and models: minimum of 3 different ideas. 10% of final grade DUE Group A+B+C DUE Group D+E+F

to understand how what we design is experienced by someone else which will be used (in part) for the final assignment.
Each student is required to summarize this project with readings and researching into the experiential in a minimum of 750 words with primary references in APA style. ASSESSMENT CRITERIA extension M
