Hi! I am Sinitta, and I am a makeup and body artist based in Nairobi. Have you heard of Cultured Ego online? Well, it is a blog showcasing alternative African fashion and music that I founded in 2013. I am a jack off all trades, and through creating content for Cultured Ego as a one man band, I found my passion, Makeup and body art. I started off doing an internship at Suzie Beauty and abit of freelance after. I then worked at MAC cosmetics for just under 2 years and started life as a freelance makeup artist again, in Feb 2016. We are back again this month and I am so excited to share with you our 2nd Cultured Issue. Feburary is supposed to be the month (well the first half at least!) of love. I am not a sucker for romantic myself but as a makeup artist, I will definately celebrate some romance! MY BONDED VALENTINE During my time at MAC, alot of ladies used to come into the store wondering what lipstick shades suit their skin tone.This sparked an idea to showcase this the Cultured Ego way! My Bonded Valentine was a colaborative editorial that I worked on with Migwa Ntigga of Magiq Lens Kenya and director Andrew Mageto. The first part of the raunchy trilogy “50 Shades of Grey� was released world wide in cinemas on Valentines day 2014. I decided to take the opportunity to showcase different shades of red lipsticks for different skin tones and run with a bondage concept. A few years back, the dudes over at Magiq Lens, Eye Que, director Andrew Mageto and myself took a trip out of Nairobi to Mt. Kenya too shoot the epic Concept by Magiq Lens, Fear and Desire. This was the very first on location and big scale passion project I was a part of. It was also one of the few first times I got to experiment with unconventional makeup material, which I believe kicked off my unique makeup style.
