We are famous for our fells and mountains, with 214 Wainwrights and England’s highest peak - Scafell Pike. There’s something for hikers of all levels, with enough variety to suit all ages and capabilities!

WATER SPORTS
Dive in and find your inner water baby. Choose from stand up paddle boarding, kayaking, sailing and white water rafting to name a few. Wild swimming is popular and our lakes also play host to open water swimming events - from stargazing swims to charity fund-raising challenges.
CYCLING
Cumbria was made for cycling: there are challenging mountain biking routes, hardcore road climbs, and family-friendly country lanes. Discover long distance cycle trails like the Hadrian’s Wall Cycleway or the Sea to Sea (C2C).

Challenge yourself to a treetop adventure. Choose from several exhilarating courses, all of which are family friendly; and manned by expert staff happy to help boost your confidence along the way.

Some attractions offer all-terrain scooter or wheelchair hire; and there are plenty of accessible accommodation options.
HORSE RIDING
Walk with friendly native ponies along an old pack horse trail, gallop along the beach, or go horse trekking across stunning landscapes.
MILES WITHOUT STILES
An initiative by the Lake District National Park Authority offering 50 routes across the Park that are suitable for people with limited mobility, including wheelchair users, families with pushchairs, and the visually impaired.
