GREETING CALL TO WORSHIP Psalm 149 (In Unison)
HYMN (found on page six)
Praise the Lord. Sing to the Lord a new song, His praise in the assembly of his faithful people. Let Israel rejoice in their Maker; let the people of Zion be glad in their King. Let them praise His name with dancing and make music to Him with timbrel and harp. For the Lord takes delight in his people; He crowns the humble with victory. Let his faithful people rejoice in this honor and sing for joy on their beds. May the praise of God be in their mouths and a double-edged sword in their hands, to inflict vengeance on the nations and punishment on the peoples, to bind their kings with fetters, their nobles with shackles of iron, to carry out the sentence written against them— this is the glory of all his faithful people. Praise the Lord. #557 Blest Be the Tie That Binds — DENNIS
AFFIRMATION OF FAITH
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
After each prayer, the leader may conclude: Lord, in your mercy. All may respond: Hear our prayer.
THE LORD'S PRAYER
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. 3
WE HEAR THE WORD PROCLAIMED CANTICLE
Peace in the Valley — Thomas A. Dorsey Well, I'm tired and so weary but I must go alone. Till the Lord comes and calls, calls me away. Well the morning's so bright and the lamb is the light and the night is as black as the sea. There will be peace in the valley for me some day. There will be peace in the valley for me, oh Lord I pray. There'll be no sadness, no sorrow no trouble, trouble I see. There will be peace in the valley for me. Well the bear will be gentle and the wolves will be tame and the lion shall lay down by the lamb. And the beasts from the wild shall be led by a little child and I'll be changed from this creature that I am.
SCRIPTURE Matthew 18:15-20
“If your brother or sister sins, go and point out their fault, just between the two of you. If they listen to you, you have won them over. But if they will not listen, take one or two others along, so that ‘every matter may be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses.’ If they still refuse to listen, tell it to the church; and if they refuse to listen even to the church, treat them as you would a pagan or a tax collector.“Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. “Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.” (NIV) This is the word of God for the people of God. Thanks be to God.

OFFERTORY
Get Together — Chet Powers Love is but a song to sing, fear’s the way we die. You can make the mountains ring or make the angels cry though the bird is on the wing and you may not know why. Come on people now smile on your brother. Everybody get together. Try to love one another right now. Some may come and some may go but we shall surely pass when the one that left us here returns for us at last. We are but a moment's sunlight fading in the grass.
PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING
Almighty God, giver of every good and perfect gift, teach us to render to you all that we have and all that we are, that we may praise you, not with our lips only, but with our whole lives, turning the duties, the sorrows, and the joys of all our days into a living sacrifice to you; through our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

CENTENARY SEEKS LEADERS The Committee on Nominations and Lay Leadership works in concert with the Senior Minister and staff to select leaders for the program and administrative ministries of the church. If you have a passion for Centenary, our mission to follow Jesus, make disciples, and transform the world, and want to live out your membership vow to support the church by your prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness, then serving in lay leadership is an excellent way to practice discipleship and help Centenary grow. The Nominations Committee seeks servants: leaders for Children’s, Youth, Adult Faith Formation, Senior Adult, Congregational Care, Evangelism and Engagement, Mission and Outreach, and Music and the Arts ministries, the Board of Trustees, the Finance, Stewardship, Staff Parish Relations, Property & Maintenance, Investments, and Scholarship committees, and to be delegates to the Western North Carolina Annual Conference meeting in June. If you are an active member of the congregation and wish to be considered for leadership in one of these areas please email Dr. Kinken (gkinken@centenary-ws.org) your name and area of interest. This information will be shared with the Nominations and Lay Leadership Committee.
OFFICES CLOSED In observance of Labor Day, all church/home offices will be closed on Monday, September 7. All offices will re-open on Tuesday, September 8.
